I AM the Football Star

Chapter 177: Chapter 69: Special Mission, Maniero’s Vision (Part 2)

But Lu Yang knew.

Because this is the famous Bengbu Spin!

It looks messy, but actually, it’s all under control.

Using physical confrontation, maneuvering in the encirclement of the enemy, this ball protection is just like Henry.

Bam!

Lu Yang broke free and unleashed a powerful shot, scoring a wonderful solo goal.

The entire goal process was very characteristic of Lu Yang.

But it wasn’t a conventional, midfield core-style goal.

This is also a point of contention.

Lu Yang did the best Lu Yang, but he didn’t achieve being an excellent midfield core.

As a result, San Remo was quickly equalized by Allez.

And after that, both sides struggled intensely in the match.

Until the eighty-fifth minute, Lu Yang once again abandoned the core play, took the ball, and ventured forward. With too many defensive players in the center, he chose to pull to the right flank.

Then a powerful cross was made, leaving it to fate.

The football deflected off the opponent’s centre-back’s foot and went into the goal.

It’s an own goal!

With this own goal, San Remo led two to one.

This was their hard-fought seventh consecutive victory in the Italian Third Division.

After the match, although Lu Yang was once again awarded the best player on the field, his rating was not high, only 7.2.

This was enough to prove the low state of the entire San Remo team.

If Lu Yang wasn’t the midfield core and didn’t need to handle midfield connection and offensive organization tasks, then his performance today could easily score 8.5 or 9 points.

But unfortunately, as a midfield core, his performance in organization was indeed not good, and the conceded goal was closely related to him.

If it weren’t for creating an own goal at the end, Lu Yang might have been portrayed by the media as the sinner of San Remo after the game.

This kind of situation, where victory is hard-earned, made San Remo’s progress difficult.

...

November 3, the final Italian Third Division match before the second round of the Italian Cup.

San Remo VS Carpi.

In this round, San Remo finally stopped winning as expected by outsiders.

If it weren’t for Lu Yang’s header in the final moments, they might have suffered a defeat.

But even so, many football media were celebrating as if it were New Year, shouting to the world that San Remo finally didn’t win.

It made others think San Remo was some remarkable team or something.

But in the end, it’s just a Third Division team, what’s there to brag about not winning?

These media that criticize the team perhaps have gone crazy?

”Ding! You encountered the first draw of your career and received a random gift package*1.”

”You have received the player-level skill, Forward Attacker.”

”Forward Attacker, you are naturally inclined towards offense, and even in midfield, you have a great longing for the opposing goal. You can more clearly discern the route forward, knowing where you should run. When you are in the opponent’s half, your speed, dribbling, passing, and shooting will slightly improve.”

This is a very sharp attacking player skill.

Lu Yang’s offensive positioning, short pass, and dribbling skills each increased by two points, reaching 70, 74, and 67 respectively.

Thinking about his recent awkward playing style, Lu Yang knew he had to change.

He had tried hard, but the facts proved that he wasn’t suitable for the core style, at least for now.

So... he decided to liberate himself.

Knock knock knock!

Lu Yang knocked on Sotu’s office door.

Tom opened the door, but Maniero was also inside, as if they were discussing something.

”Lu Yang, you’re just in time. Take a look at this match. It’s the broadcast replay of the latest round’s Derby della Madonnina. This match is incredibly exciting, and the current top star in Serie A, Ricardo Izecson, dominated the game with a hat-trick, leading AC Milan to a thrilling 3-2 victory over Inter Milan,” Maniero was quite excited.

Even though his club and the two Milan clubs are sworn enemies, what he is studying right now belongs only to football, temporarily distancing from club feuds.

Lu Yang looked at the computer.

On the screen, a cheerful and sunny young man was sprinting on the green field.

He was too fast, no one could catch his shadow, shining like a meteor.

With just a glance, Lu Yang was certain that this star named Izecson was the Son of God in this world!

”So, what do you think?” After watching for a while, Maniero asked Lu Yang.

”He’s really strong, he’s at ease, and he’s a notch above the other players on the field! The title of the top star in Serie A is well-deserved!” Lu Yang didn’t know exactly what Maniero was asking, so he answered like this.

Sure enough, Maniero shook his head, ”I mean, if you were to play like this, would you... be willing?”

Boom!

In a flash of inspiration, Lu Yang’s mind raced with thoughts, and he squinted his eyes, beginning to analyze the true intentions of Maniero and Sotu.

Lu Yang looked towards Sotu.

There was no surprise on Sotu’s face, clearly, this was the solution he and Maniero had devised to save the team.

Lu Yang swallowed.

This... He originally just didn’t want to play as a midfield core and planned to retreat to a defensive midfielder. He intended to take care of defense and counterattack, leaving the rest to fate.

But unexpectedly, Sotu and Maniero not only didn’t step back but advanced, not only wanting Lu Yang to become the midfield core but also pushing his position further forward.

This is... so daring?

Maniero saw that Lu Yang didn’t refuse and immediately smiled, ”More than twenty years ago, I was in exactly the same situation as you. Although our technical characteristics are different, the difficulties we face are the same.”
