Global Game: I Have Portable Store

Chapter 47: Chapter 47: Police Station

They have a superpower that can locate people, which is why they could find Zeng Lin’s corpse so easily.

That’s the only logical explanation.

”So I was still too careless.”

Su Changxing took a deep breath, never expecting anyone would specifically come to check Zeng Lin’s corpse.

The bonfire still burned, and the temperature inside gradually became warm.

Su Changxing sat down and continued eating. This was already the second box of self-heating rice; his appetite seemed to grow with the number of times he strengthened himself, though it remained within a reasonable range.

He browsed the forum and found a large number of posts about forming alliances; everyone began spontaneously gathering together, forming small groups.

”So has the Doomsday Game entered the second stage? Humans are starting to take control and actively explore.”

Su Changxing thought about it. He never believed zombies were the real threat; the real threat would be the ubiquitous radiation infection in the air.

He wasn’t sure if official organizations like the Security Bureau had realized this.

Su Changxing packed his things, went out, and continued to search the streets for bookstores and newsstands, scavenging maps. Just after leaving, he received a private message from Heartless Beast.

Heartless Beast: Bro, do you have any weapons over there? I’m about to try my luck at the police station and need some weapons. How about I give you a gun in return after things work out?

Below is a picture of the police station. The station’s outer wall is glass but has been shattered, and there are several corpses inside, some zombies and some humans.

Lucky Child: Hasn’t the police station been scavenged?

Heartless Beast: No, there’s a monster inside, not a zombie. Anyway, none of the people who went in ever came out, but I’ve decided to go for it with a few brothers. Hey, if we get a gun, we’ll strike it rich.

Lucky Child: I trust you, how about five longswords? Give me one gun if you find it, or else points will do.

Heartless Beast: Good brother, with these longswords, we’ll definitely succeed.

A monster?

Su Changxing wasn’t surprised about the appearance of some other monsters because he had already seen them. As for Heartless Beast, he neither trusted nor distrusted him; five longswords would be considered a risk investment.

Anyway, he didn’t lack points currently. If Heartless Beast tricked him, it wouldn’t be a big problem, as he’d then have a clearer view of his character and would cease future cooperation.

Su Changxing walked along the street for four or five hundred meters and saw a blue sign with a police badge logo, indicating a police station not far ahead.

”It shouldn’t be such a coincidence; it might not necessarily be the same police station.”

Su Changxing murmured to himself, not believing in such coincidences, as he only believed in science.

Since it rained last night, the outside air was very clear, as if the entire city had become much cleaner.

Avoiding zombies all the way, and after walking over a thousand meters, Su Changxing could see the police station with transparent glass outer walls from afar.

Seven or eight people holding weapons were heading into the police station. Notably, three of them were holding longswords.

”Alright, it’s really them.”

Su Changxing walked to the front of the police station but didn’t enter. If Heartless Beast succeeded and shared a gun with him, that would be perfect.

Then he noticed something strange about the glass on the ground; it didn’t seem forcefully shattered, but rather broke into pieces of similar size, more like shattered by sound waves.

”What the hell is this.”

Su Changxing cautiously stepped back two steps, realizing there was indeed some sort of monster inside the police station; Heartless Beast hadn’t lied to him.

”This level of destruction is definitely not something ordinary people can deal with.”

He immediately messaged Heartless Beast.

Lucky Child: Bro, I advise you to get out of there immediately.

Heartless Beast: Heh, we’re about to reach the gun vault; with guns, dealing with that monster won’t be a problem.

But less than half a minute later, a high-frequency sound, like a child crying, came from the police station, and the glass attached to the walls began to vibrate.

Su Changxing suddenly felt a bit dizzy and immediately took two more steps back.

This sound came quickly and went quickly, but he noticed his status bar had changed to a mild spiritual shock.

Spiritual Attack?

Next came a burst of shouting; three people with blood flowing from their facial features staggered out, with the man running in front, seeing Su Changxing, shouted: ”Bro, help, there’s a ghost.”

The other two fell heavily to the ground upon escaping, having exhausted themselves, while only the bearded man stood there gasping for breath.

Two dark-skinned zombies followed them out, moving much faster than ordinary zombies.

Su Changxing raised his steel saber intending to slash at one of them, but found them making a quick turn back to the station after running just a few steps outside.

Are these zombies intelligent?

”Wow, bro, you scared them back.”

The bearded man beside him exclaimed in shock.

Su Changxing looked at the empty police station and said thoughtfully: ”Hmm, they probably ran back on their own. What’s inside?”

The bearded man, still unsettled, said: ”There’s a ghost-like child inside. Once it cries, I lose my sense of direction and can barely run out.”

”Who would have thought there’d be such a thing inside, just thought it was a more robust monster than a zombie.”

Su Changxing looked at the man in surprise; although he was bleeding from his facial features, he seemed unaffected, and asked: ”Did you not know the specific situation of the monster inside?”

The bearded man checked his comrades’ injuries and said seriously: ”No, only that the people who went in before never came out. No wonder nobody got out; when the monster cried, five of us collapsed immediately, how do you fight against that.”

Definitely reckless.

Su Changxing gave a fair evaluation in his heart; knowing there’s a monster inside and still rushing in with weapons.

The bearded man looked at Su Changxing, showing a cautious expression, and said: ”I’m Huang Biao. What’s your name, brother?”

”Su Changxing.”

Su Changxing suddenly noticed his phone vibrating.

[Side Quest (Special): You’ve discovered a suspected spiritually attacking monster in the police station; find a way to kill it. It may hold clues to the truth of the apocalypse.

Kill the monster, find the clue.

Reward: Two-Faced People.]

Su Changxing glanced at his phone and asked: ”Did you receive a mission regarding this monster?”

Huang Biao looked at his phone and said: ”Yes, it’s to kill the monster, and there might be extra points for being the first to do so.”

It appears that Huang Biao’s mission is different from his, probably because of the previous task.

”Like a series of tasks?”

Su Changxing murmured.

He hadn’t intended to go inside, but since this monster was related to the truth of the apocalypse, it was important—and connected to whether they could survive the Doomsday Game.

Huang Biao glanced at Su Changxing and said: ”Brother, do you also want to go in to get a gun? I still advise you not to go in; someone advised me to get out before, but I didn’t listen, and lost five brothers for nothing.”

Su Changxing looked at him strangely and replied: ”I only want to kill that one monster; you lost a few people inside, don’t you want revenge?”

Huang Biao thought for a while and said: ”I’m not a reckless man.”
