Chapter 33: Chapter 33: Energy Net Project

As expected, Su Changxing found the post from last night of him running on the street, with a full video of him being chased by the Undead Tide after the car accident.

”Damn, no wonder Wu Wenbi recognized me, one second I was leading zombies in the video, the next second I was in front of him, even an idiot could recognize that.”

”This is too much of an invasion of privacy, with such a wide distribution of people, it seems like there’s a risk of being secretly filmed no matter where you are.”

Su Changxing estimated that he might be recognized, but for now, it’s not a big problem, as he didn’t reveal much in the video, mostly just running fast.

Wait a minute, this person?

He suddenly found that the poster’s ID was someone called Unremarkable.

Unremarkable?

This name sounded familiar.

Wasn’t this the same person he just encountered, and the location is similar too, it seems quite a coincidence to meet the original poster.

Su Changxing browsed the forum and found that the secret of the Mysterious Shop had not been exposed, as if by agreement, everyone in the know remained silent.

Once this secret is known to everyone, it will invisibly increase a lot of competitors.

However, this secret can’t be kept for long, as it might be exposed at any time.

Within a few minutes, Su Changxing saw a new trending post titled, Speculations on the Mysterious Shop.

King of the Sandbox: There’s a Mysterious Shop near me, but because of the zombies, I haven’t had a chance to go in. However, I saw someone go in last night and bring out some things.

As an experienced player, my intuition tells me, the Mysterious Shop must be related to Points, and one can exchange points for items.

This also explains why a lot of people on the forum are gathering Points, yet the prices of food and water remain high, indicating that the items in the shop are limited.

······

This person was like crafting a game strategy, posting a lot of words, analyzing the Mysterious Shop thoroughly based on his guesses.

What surprised Su Changxing was that most of this person’s analysis was correct, you could say he’s very skilled.

But it was also very unreasonable, as if he knew the result and was reverse engineering it, looking at the answer to write the process.

”Could it be he already knew, and just used this way to let everyone know, so what is his motive?”

Su Changxing pondered, muttering to himself.

Meanwhile, this post caused a strong reaction on the forum, with many people discussing it heatedly underneath.

Reply 1: I think the original poster makes a lot of sense, maybe some things people sell on the forum are exchanged from the shop.

Reply 2: It all feels too absurd, as if all this is just a game, unsure if there’s a chance to revive after dying.

Reply 3: Sounds good, but I can’t even get out at night, there are too many zombies outside.

Reply 4: No matter what, I want to give it a try.

······

Su Changxing put down the phone, took out a file from the backpack with a blue shield logo on it.

This might contain information about the causes of the apocalypse and explanations of the zombie infection mechanism.

The topmost document in the folder was Wang Donglai’s work log.

January 7th - February 2nd, 2987

At the company branch in Anxing City, I traveled here to oversee the establishment of a small Energy Station, which was successfully built and became operational.

Standing near the Energy Station, one can noticeably feel more spirited, but that’s about it.

Although I don’t know what the Energy Net plan is, I understand it will be a great plan for the benefit of humanity, and I am just a small cog in this great plan.

March 15th

The second phase of the experiment begins, and the company has sent a blue pill, said to enhance the human body’s ability to absorb energy.

In order to complete this great plan quickly, we contacted a near-bankrupt company nearby, expressing our willingness to invest large funds.

The boss readily agreed; no one would refuse Shield Company’s invitation.

April 10th - May 15th

After a period of experimentation, the results show that all employees who ate the pills are full of spirit, healthy, and sleep significantly less, with work efficiency drastically increased.

I seem to understand what a great plan this is: when everyone can work more efficiently and for longer hours, society will surely make another leap.

July 1st

Received a company order to continue monitoring and evaluating experimental personnel, while the company began establishing a large Energy Station in the city’s outskirts, Shiluo District.

This energy station’s radiation is magical, it is transitionary; small energy stations can radiate over ten kilometers, while large stations can radiate hundreds or even thousands of kilometers.

Thus, even if built outside the city, it can easily cover the entire city.

July 10th

Advertising about the Energy Plan flooded in from all directions, with all media touting it as something epoch-making.

I vaguely feel something is wrong, but the experimental personnel still show no problems, and the nearly bankrupt company is reviving under the employees’ strong work efficiency.

······

The rest were just heavy records, Su Changxing kept flipping through until he found what he wanted to see.

January 1st, 2988

Today will be a cross-era day, and in less than five months, energy stations were built globally and will start operating simultaneously after 12 o’clock; from now on it might be a world where everyone becomes a God.

I smelled the gamble of playing cards, the company seems too impatient, many people think so; such a thing involving all of humanity took less than three years from research to completion.

But we cannot change the company’s decision.

February 2nd

My colleagues and I didn’t go to the scene; we only watched the Energy Station’s operation start-up ceremony on TV, with all TV stations broadcasting this scene.

With the huge fan starting to spin, countless blue lights appeared in the air, beautiful and captivating.

Suddenly, the world became dark.

Electricity and communications were cut off at the same time; this was not anticipated before.

The Energy Station never showed any influence on electricity and communications in previous experiments, could it be that too many caused a fundamental change in this energy radiation?

In the darkness, the city fell silent again; we seemed to return to the most primitive state.

February 3rd

Without electricity and communications, the entire city began to fall apart, with numerous crimes of looting and killing appearing on the streets, and armed criminal investigators deployed to maintain order.

The most important thing now is to shut down the Energy Station, but when the issue arose, shouldn’t the company’s people at the station have shut it down immediately?

Could it be that some unforeseen changes occurred?

February 4th

A large Energy Station doesn’t need pills to affect the human body.

Almost everyone exhibited phenomena like the experimental subjects: being full of spirit, with less sleep.

My colleagues and I realized something was wrong, took another pill, which wasn’t in large supply, to inhibit the body’s absorption of this energy.

We also contacted Chief Wen Feng, and had him dispatch a team to accompany our people to the suburban Energy Station to check the situation and shut down the Energy Station.
