Global Game: I Have Portable Store

Chapter 17: Chapter 17: Mysterious Shop

Su Changxing glanced at the zombie lying on the ground, void of life, and surveyed the surroundings, discovering that there were probably no zombies nearby. With a decisive action, he ran towards the lit area on the opposite side of the street.

Separated by more than ten meters, Su Changxing reached the other side of the street in four or five seconds with his speed. Just as he was about to approach the Mysterious Shop, a voice halted him from the side.

”Kid, don’t go near there.”

Following the sound, Su Changxing saw a man in a suit holding a short stick in the darkness, and his vigilance instantly heightened.

Due to childhood experiences, he had always been wary of others, finding it difficult to truly trust anyone, especially in a situation like this.

”Why shouldn’t I go near it?”

The man heard this and a slight smile appeared on his face. The lenses of his glasses glowed blue under the moonlight as he said:

”Of course, it’s dangerous. Unknown things often pose dangers, and it’s too reckless for you to rush in blindly.”

Seeing Su Changxing say nothing, the man thought these young students were really easy to convince, much like the employees at his former company, and continued:

”My name is Sun Baisheng. It’s not easy for anyone in this world. We can cooperate, mutually benefit, and survive better.”

As he spoke, he walked towards Su Changxing.

Su Changxing felt a bit annoyed, never expecting the first person he encountered to be all talk. He lifted his steel saber and said coldly, ”Leave here immediately, or I will kill you. Trust me, I run faster than you.”

He noticed Sun Baisheng was further from the store than he was, but standing on the side closer to it, Sun Baisheng moving towards him was essentially also approaching the store.

Sun Baisheng’s smile froze. He hadn’t expected the young man to be so decisive, and he was very wary of the steel saber in Su Changxing’s hand. He stopped his steps immediately, smiled and said, ”Haha, young brother, I mean no harm.”

”I said leave here, you have ten seconds.”

With his steel saber, Su Changxing calmly looked at the middle-aged man, speaking indifferently.

He guessed the middle-aged man might know something about the Mysterious Shop, but didn’t bother to ask.

The middle-aged man, hearing the indifferent voice and sensing a hint of killing intent, realized the young man might really act. Without looking back, he ran in the other direction.

His steps were unsteady, clearly showing a severe lack of exercise before.

Su Changxing watched Sun Baisheng’s departing back, relaxing slightly, unable to discern Sun Baisheng’s true intentions.

In such circumstances, he could only speculate the worst in others.

Then, he ran back towards the brightly lit shop again. The light source in the shop was very similar to a mobile phone’s, visible but not dispersing. Outside, the street remained shrouded in darkness.

”Is it the same technology as mobile phones?”

Just as Su Changxing reached the shop’s entrance, a zombie lunged at him from a nearby alley, baring its teeth and claws.

As he raised his steel saber to counterattack, a flash of white light streaked before his eyes, and the zombie vanished from his sight. Su Changxing found himself in another space, a square, gray-white room.

The room was spacious, with a silver-white large sphere suspended in the center overhead.

”Is this the Mysterious Shop?”

Su Changxing looked around and saw nothing else, so he walked towards the silver sphere. As he approached beneath it, a light blue screen appeared in front of him.

The screen displayed dozens of items with their points prices listed behind them, and two time indicators below.

9:39, exit.

days, refresh.

”So, I can only stay here for at most ten minutes, the shop refreshes once every five days, and it’s possible that the shop’s location will be fixed for five days.”

Su Changxing immediately began browsing the items on the screen, first seeing the item at the top.

[Speed Enhancement (Rare, Quantity 2), 1200 Points.]

”This should be something similar to a potion, enhancing the body, but cheaper, with the rarity just being rare.”

Su Changxing clicked to view the description of Speed Enhancement.

[Speed Enhancement: Enhances the body, with a focus on speed. The weaker your speed, the better the enhancement effect.]

Su Changxing would definitely buy this item, but it was too expensive, and he only had enough points for one.

The rest included a large number of daily necessities, everything was available — sleeping bags, iron pots, clothes, shoes, even toothbrushes.

But the only weapon available was a sturdy wooden stick, valued at 10 points.

While water and food were rather scarce.

[550ml Bottled Water (Quantity 7), 2 Points

Instant Noodles (Quantity 8), 2 Points]

Seeing the quantities of water and instant noodles, Su Changxing immediately realized someone had exchanged for items there yesterday, but that person should have only had ten points, having bought three bottles of water and two packs of instant noodles.

”So, someone knew about exchanging points for items beforehand.”

Su Changxing thought for a moment and spent 1200 points to exchange for Speed Enhancement.

At the moment of exchange, a white light flew towards him from the metal ball, and then a bone-chilling cold swept through his body.

After seven breaths, just as he felt he was about to turn into an ice block, the cold vanished, leaving a sense of lightness and comfort all over his body.

Check Attributes.

Speed increased from 3 points to 4 points.

A slight smile appeared on Su Changxing’s face. As he grew stronger by one point, his foundation for survival also became sturdier.

Then, he spent thirty points to exchange all the water and food. These items were basic survival resources, not expensive in the Mysterious Shop but highly valuable outside.

Su Changxing spent over 200 points on toothpaste, toothbrush, sleeping bag, a black t-shirt, black leather coat, five wooden sticks, and a sack for carrying items.

Buying these things wasn’t about enjoying himself — the sleeping bag was for better sleep, maintaining a good mental state.

Toothpaste and toothbrush, well, also for better sleep.

As for the clothes, it wasn’t because his current set was dirty, but rather the black clothes were more conducive for hiding at night, whether or not it worked on zombies, it certainly would on humans.

Su Changxing changed clothes, placed the food, water, and wooden sticks into the sack, and put the other items in his backpack, then left the shop.

A flash of silver-white cold light passed, and a figure appeared behind the zombie at the shop door.

Drawing the saber, a putrid, fleshy head flew high, accompanied by pained howls.

”The blade speed is more than half faster than before, so speed mainly involves burst ability and agility?”

After taking only two steps forward, Su Changxing sensed something wrong; the howling behind him wasn’t stopping and still persisted.

”Not dead?”

He turned back to see only the zombie’s head left, yet it continued howling, not completely dead. Then he noticed the phone didn’t display a kill notification.

Now he completely understood that unless the zombies’ heads were destroyed, even remaining just a head, they would still live.

”What a frightening creature, or perhaps it can’t even be considered a living thing anymore.”
