Chapter 15: Chapter 15: Healing Through Sleep

After resting in place for more than ten minutes, Su Changxing felt a faint pain throughout his body, especially the pain in his abdomen was particularly obvious, and his head was becoming increasingly drowsy.

He took out a bottle of water, drank a big mouthful to suppress the pain, poured some over his face, forcing himself to stay awake, and observed the surrounding situation.

This is a regular commercial street with various storefronts: snacks, clothing, supermarkets... Various litter scattered on the streets looked dirty and desolate, but there was still a faint sense of past prosperity.

Su Changxing’s first priority now is to find a safe place to rest. This place shouldn’t be too high and should allow him to observe the street at all times.

This way, he can be both offensive and defensive, retreating and advancing as needed.

He immediately saw a building not far away with a huge billboard on top, a blue pentagon shield, still with the familiar slogan, ”Shield Company is protecting you.”

”Is this the power of advertising? Quite ironic.”

Su Changxing chuckled and walked towards the building with the billboard. It’s a decent spot for resting, a three-story building, with a café on the ground floor and a hotel on the upper two floors.

The reason he chose this place is because he found that on the third floor, it seemed possible to climb directly from the window to the rooftop, giving him a relatively extra escape route.

Also, there shouldn’t be too many zombies in the hotel, even if there are any, they won’t be gathered together.

Su Changxing tried to avoid zombies along the way but still attracted the attention of one or two zombies. His condition was very poor, his movements began to stiffen, and it took some effort to deal with them.

Bending over, Su Changxing arrived behind an abandoned car at the café door, peeked through, and found there were actually over a dozen zombies inside.

”So many, do zombies like coffee too?”

After thinking it over, Su Changxing planned to climb up from the outer wall, but after observing for a long time, he couldn’t find an angle to climb up.

The outer walls were all dirt-red tiles and glass curtain walls, with no place to start, and it was impossible for him to climb up with his climbing skills.

Just when he was at a loss, Su Changxing awkwardly realized there was a passage ahead.

”It makes sense, how could a hotel go up from a café, making such a common sense mistake... Am I dizzy?”

Entering the staircase, Su Changxing saw half a body of a zombie lying limp in the stairway. He went up and ended its struggle with a single blade.

This kind of already crippled zombie is like sending free points, which indirectly explains a problem: no one has been in and out of here recently.

If there were others inside, Su Changxing would consider changing places. He had many secrets different from others now, and the large amount of supplies in his backpack was prone to be coveted by others.

He quietly walked to the third floor. This hotel is similar to general small hotels. The corridor has two rows of small rooms on either side, with red carpets faintly bearing blood stains.

There were no zombies in the corridor, but there was a faint smell of decay and blood. There must still be zombies on this floor.

Su Changxing had just reached the door of the first room when he saw a zombie rush out from the second room, stiffly raising the steel saber in its hand, slicing horizontally—which happened to split the zombie’s head.

”The reaction is too fast, these zombies must have some special sensory capability.”

Su Changxing furrowed his brows, already guessing this earlier. He had definitely not made any sound just now, even if smelled by zombies, it shouldn’t have been this fast.

Without much thought, Su Changxing immediately began clearing out the zombies on this floor. His condition was poor and he needed rest.

He felt he could pass out at any moment.

But it was soon night, so he had to clear this floor first; otherwise, it would be more dangerous.

The hotel environment was fairly friendly because each room had limited space, so even if there were zombies, it would be no more than one or two.

There were indeed very few zombies; with the one killed first, Su Changxing found a total of only three, and each one charged out actively before he even got close.

This situation was completely different from when he was clearing zombies in the building earlier.

”So at night, zombies not only move faster, but their perception becomes more sensitive.”

Su Changxing couldn’t help but sink within; this would mean the nighttime danger factor would increase yet another level.

Reaching the last room outside, he smelled a strong bloody scent, knowing someone had died here, and upon entering, saw a corpse almost completely gnawed away, and a zombie corpse.

”Seems he killed a zombie before dying, but ultimately fell to numbers against multiple zombies.”

Su Changxing took a look and quickly grasped the situation, calmly picked up the black screen phone on the ground.

[Plunder Eliminator Points, Gain 110 Points]

The task accounted for 100 points, plus 10 points gained from killing the zombie, exactly 110 points.

Then, he left here, half-way down the corridor, found a relatively cleaner room, locked the door, leaned against the corner to rest.

Once he relaxed, Su Changxing felt a strong exhaustion and a faint pain throughout his body, not wanting to move anymore, bouts of sleepiness flooded in.

But he still took out water from the backpack, exchanged a loaf of bread from the store, forced himself to eat half a loaf, drank some water, and then slept drowsily.

”Beep beep beep~”

A faint ringtone sounded beside his ear.

Su Changxing suddenly opened his eyes in the darkness, took out the phone from his pocket for a look.

11:30

He had just slept for three and a half hours.

”Luckily there was an alarm, otherwise, I definitely wouldn’t have woken up.”

Su Changxing felt refreshed, the previous dizzy feeling completely disappeared, and the bodily pain had lessened a lot.

Checking character attributes.

Name: Su Changxing

Power: 4 (stronger than average human)

Speed: 3 (average human level)

Physique: 3 (average human level)

Spirit: 5 (far above average human)

Status: Light injury, mild mental trauma.

Evaluation: If it weren’t for that potion, you’d be dead from such injuries. Thank your luck. The potion reacted strangely with your body, giving you some kind of special ability.

Special ability?

Recovery ability?

Earlier on the rooftop, he was invisibly hit by that white creature, his internal organs were injured, but there was no time to deal with it later, feeling a faint pain, with the status showing injured.

After sleeping, the injury had turned to light injury, mild mental trauma to slight mental trauma, without affecting spiritual power anymore.

Presumably, the dizziness and sleepiness earlier were not just from exhaustion, it was also related to mental trauma.

”Resting to recover is normal, but the recovery effect is a bit too strong, so is this the special ability? Sleeping to regain health?”

Su Changxing estimated this to be a very good ability, although it doesn’t add combat capability, it can save his life at crucial times.

Meanwhile, he felt intense hunger, though he had just eaten half a loaf before sleeping.

”So, this ability consumes my body’s energy too, makes sense, adhering to the law of conservation of energy.”
