Wilderness Survival with Druid System

Chapter 393: Chapter 62: Second Bloom

”Hippopotamus? Where did it come from? It seems to have wounds, it should be an expelled hippo, right?”

Yoshikawa Feng muttered to himself, ”But why did it come over here? There’s a gentler and more open water surface a few hundred meters upstream, where a group of solitary male hippos congregate. Logically, it should be staying there.”

Although he didn’t quite understand why the hippo appeared here, Yoshikawa Feng remained vigilant enough.

He deliberately went a little further to draw water.

But he happened to come across Chen Wen’s side.

Bending down to draw water.

At this moment, the distance between Yoshikawa Feng and Chen Wen was only about ten meters.

Chen Wen even lightened his breathing significantly.

He hunched his body, hiding among the lush reeds, peering through the gaps to watch beside Yoshikawa Feng.

Due to the presence of [Intimidation], in order to maintain concealment, Chen Wen had to avoid eye contact with Yoshikawa Feng as much as possible.

Meanwhile, the effects related to hiding from[Hide], [Night Shadow], and [Sneak Attack] were fully triggered.

From outside the reeds, Chen Wen was almost invisible.

Unless someone continuously stared at the area where Chen Wen was, only then could a vague human-shaped shadow be seen.

Obviously, Yoshikawa Feng wasn’t that idle.

After drawing water, he started splashing water to wash his face and arms.

Seeing the leaves sticking to Yoshikawa Feng’s body, Chen Wen felt a stir in his heart.

These leaves were the ones seen in the trap area last time.

At that time, Chen Wen specially arranged the leaves to cover his traces.

Which made him have some impression of these leaves.

It seems the plan succeeded!

Yoshikawa Feng probably just set up a trap!

Chen Wen was delighted.

But just at this moment.

Yoshikawa Feng jumped into the water, intending to wash his feet and legs.

The ripples from the splash slowly spread, reaching Chen Wen’s side.

On the edge of the reedbed where Chen Wen had just come ashore.

The soft mud he had stepped on had loosened quite a bit.

Like the straw that broke the camel’s back, the soil fell into the water under the ripples’ caress.

This sound naturally caught Yoshikawa Feng’s attention.

He instinctively looked over.

Chen Wen and the assistants behind the lens all felt their hearts leap to their throats.

Chen Wen and Lin Jiawei naturally worried about being discovered, causing the plan to fail, directly starting the duel phase.

This wasn’t in line with Chen Wen’s ideas.

He wanted to prolong it, slowly drain every bit of utility from Yoshikawa Feng.

To eliminate Yoshikawa Feng unless discovered, or witnessing enough profit to change Chen Wen’s mind.

Yoshikawa Feng’s assistant was even more anxious.

After all, he knew very well that Yoshikawa Feng, equipped only with a pot and machete, was likely no match for Chen Wen.

Rather than being eliminated now, it was better to be exploited by Chen Wen, survive to the later stages.

Therefore, both sides were worried about a showdown happening next moment.

But Yoshikawa Feng got suspicious.

As a highly vigilant person, he believed all suspected dangers should be promptly eliminated.

Yoshikawa Feng began approaching the reedbed, intending to investigate.

If Yoshikawa Feng comes close, he would definitely discover him!

Chen Wen hesitated, contemplating whether to eliminate Yoshikawa Feng now.

But suddenly, he had a quick thought, opened his backpack, and placed the side-necked turtle on the ground.

The side-necked turtle, regaining its freedom, instinctively ran away from Chen Wen.

Naturally, away from Chen Wen meant towards Yoshikawa Feng’s side.

Accompanied by the side-necked turtle squeezing through the reeds, heading towards the river.

The reeds swayed, raising Yoshikawa Feng’s alertness to the maximum.

But just as he focused on the approaching swaying reeds, the side-necked turtle crawled out from the reed stems, splashed into the water with a thud.

Yoshikawa Feng let out a long breath: ”Ah, I thought it was something, turns out it’s just a turtle!”

He watched the side-necked turtle enter the water, escaping to the side.

Meanwhile, Chen Wen and Lin Jiawei relaxed a lot.

No need for confrontation now, prolonged benefits, perfect!

And Yoshikawa Feng’s assistant was undoubtedly the most relieved one.

He wiped the sweat off his head, thinking to himself: That was close! Almost got taken out by Chen Wen!

Wait, why did I assume Yoshikawa Feng would lose?

Yoshikawa Feng’s assistant fell into deep suspicion.

...

Beside the Kuanduo River’s reedbed.

After eliminating the danger, Yoshikawa Feng also looked at the side-necked turtle swimming in the water.

He remarked with interest, ”This seems to be a side-necked turtle. I remember side-necked turtles are edible.”

”This side-necked turtle doesn’t look too smart, even after seeing me, it just lingers nearby, maybe I can try catching it.”

Yoshikawa Feng said this and planned to go ashore first.

He intended to use the pot as a net, to see if he could catch this side-necked turtle.

With Yoshikawa Feng turning to go ashore.

Chen Wen quickly escaped to the opposite side.

The reedbed had a shape protruding into the riverbank.

After Yoshikawa Feng went ashore, Chen Wen had already entered the water from the other side.

He watched Yoshikawa Feng go into the water, begin catching the side-necked turtle.

Once Yoshikawa Feng fully focused on the side-necked turtle, Chen Wen climbed ashore, placed the tools in hidden spots.

Carrying an axe and spear, he circled toward the hills from the other side.

Hoping Yoshikawa Feng’s turtle catching skills were poor, thus wasting more time.

Chen Wen ran swiftly without looking back, silently praying in his heart.

...

After a burst of sprinting.

With his heart racing, face flushed, Chen Wen reached the hill area.

He quickly entered the forest, confirmed safety, then took a lengthy breath.

Really dangerous!

Almost got discovered by Yoshikawa Feng!

Chen Wen thought, holding the axe as he stood up.

This time, the main purpose was to check if Yoshikawa Feng had fallen for it.

If he fell for it, take the rope.

If not, attempt a theft.

As Chen Wen arrived at the previously set trap spot, his expression turned quite colorful.

”He fell for it! Ha!”

Chen Wen saw the re-arranged deer trap, didn’t hesitate, and directly dismantled the trap.

The last rope was about the thickness of Chen Wen’s middle finger, while this time the rope was nearly twice as thick!

Profit!

This rope probably isn’t far off from nylon rope in strength, right?

Got to admit, Yoshikawa Feng’s efficiency was quite high, made a new rope in just a few days.

Chen Wen thought, happily stored the rope away.

Yoshikawa Feng’s assistant watched this, his heart bleeding.

But what could be done?

He could only watch Chen Wen take the rope from the first trap, proceed to the second rope.

Home is gone!

Feng!

...

Over at Yoshikawa Feng’s side.

As a survivor, his turtle-catching skills were solid.

Moreover, this side-necked turtle had just escaped Chen Wen’s clutches, expending a lot of energy.

Therefore, soon, about halfway through Chen Wen’s run.

Yoshikawa Feng easily caught the side-necked turtle.

But he didn’t immediately start butchering the side-necked turtle.

He planned to take the side-necked turtle back, raise it first, eat it when food runs short later.

After all, a lot of prepared food was available, not easy to preserve.

Better to eat the old food first.

Thus, after catching the side-necked turtle, Yoshikawa Feng satisfactorily headed towards the hills.

...

Chen Wen easily found the second trap.

After removing the rope, Chen Wen didn’t rush to set up the scene.

He noticed this time that Yoshikawa Feng fell for the trick rather skeptically.

Deceiving once was effective.

But fooling him twice might not work on Yoshikawa Feng.

After some thought, Chen Wen decided to dismantle the third trap first.

Then think about stealing from him again.

Once Chen Wen reached the third trap and was about to dismantle it, his expression suddenly changed.

He saw a very strange animal.

It had horns twisted like tree roots and a massive body.

In his mind, Chen Wen thought of picking up the rope without hesitation, if Yoshikawa Feng fell for it.
