Wilderness Survival with Druid System

Chapter 380: Chapter 49: Tigerfish

Returning to the camp under the cover of night.

It’s worth mentioning that on the way back, a hippopotamus encountered Chen Wen and acted as a bodyguard, escorting him to the shelter.

After escorting Chen Wen back to the shelter, the hippopotamus leisurely went along the riverbank to forage.

Chen Wen then used a pot to cook some previously roasted crocodile meat and drank some broth.

”Sigh, storing food in this place is indeed a problem, the crocodile meat now already has a bit of an odd taste.”

Chen Wen said, swallowing the crocodile meat and sprinkling some seasonings on it.

”If food were not scarce, I wouldn’t recommend eating meat with an off taste. It’s edible, but for those with sensitive stomachs, it might cause diarrhea, which is known to be quite serious in wilderness survival.”

”If it continues, it could lead to dehydration and death. In any case, everyone, please don’t imitate me.”

After a mouthful of soup, the spices masked the taste of the crocodile meat, and Chen Wen sighed with satisfaction.

No matter where you are, drinking a bowl of hot soup at night is truly comforting!

After eating, Chen Wen threw the kitchen waste a hundred meters away from the shelter.

Then he climbed a tree and placed some defensive spikes.

He leaned against the wall of the shelter, contemplating the next steps of his plan.

Once he catches some fish and gains some resources, he can prepare to eliminate others.

This time, elimination doesn’t involve taking the prize money.

However, based on the number of eliminations, there will be an additional reward after winning the championship prize.

It’s quite generous.

Chen Wen doesn’t lack money, but now is not the time to spend it, so he must strive for it.

So, in Chen Wen’s current plan, eliminating other contestants holds a certain weight.

”With ample food and a hippopotamus as transportation, it’s indeed time to consider trying out other competitors.”

Chen Wen said, ”The closest one is Yoshikawa Feng. With his survival strategy, he hasn’t been eliminated yet, so it seems he’s managed to stabilize with a substantial food reserve.”

”And I still have a special tool against Yoshikawa Feng. Even though he knows about Brad’s elimination, if I suddenly appear in front of him wearing this outfit, it might take him by surprise for a moment.”

”That’s when I’ll strike directly, taking advantage of his surprise!”

”Of course, if this outfit doesn’t work, I’ll still take him down!”

On the show’s side, Yoshikawa Feng’s assistant turned pale.

Why did this champion suddenly think of eliminating others?

Can’t they just develop peacefully?

Chen Wen chuckled, lay down in the shelter, and began to rest.

Meanwhile, in the distance, Yoshikawa Feng sneezed, feeling a sense of unease.

”Strange, could there be animals nearby?”

Yoshikawa Feng is someone who trusts his instincts.

He circled around the shelter with his weapon, finding nothing unusual, and only then muttered his way back to the shelter.

”I’ve got food, and a shelter, next I should consider storing more food.”

Yoshikawa Feng was also using the time before sleep for survival planning.

”There are many gazelles and red dik-diks around my shelter, all excellent food sources.”

”By the way, I saw some kudu in the hills over there a few days ago, also a very good food source.”

Yoshikawa Feng suddenly remembered something.

He rubbed his chin, analyzing: ”Kudu are large antelopes. If I can hunt one, my food supply will be ample, and perhaps I should put in some effort to hunt a kudu?”

After pondering for a moment, Yoshikawa Feng made up his mind, ”Hunt the kudu!”

”If I can get one and make jerky from it, I’ll have plenty of food, enough to search for allies and rendezvous with them!”

Yoshikawa Feng’s words made his assistant’s face look even more worried.

Stocking up now might soon become Chen Wen’s food storage in a few days!

One-on-one, the assistant, well-aware of Yoshikawa Feng’s capabilities, knew his win rate wasn’t over ten percent.

Hopefully, Yoshikawa Feng can wake up soon!

While there’s already some food, quickly joining allies is the only lifeline.

...

On Feng Zhong’s side.

Lying on a tree, he watched the situation with a drone.

”It will probably take three or four days to reach the area where Chen Wen is, and it might take another one or two days to find him. The food supply is barely enough, but I still need to gather some food along the way.”

After speaking, Feng Zhong noticed an African elephant approaching.

He immediately became alert.

Lone African elephants are typically male. They are more aggressive and dangerous, highly prone to attacks.

Feng Zhong hovered the drone in the distant sky, monitoring the elephant, while he remained completely still.

The African elephant had long heard the drone’s noise and wandered under it for a while.

After confirming that the thing was flying in the sky,

the elephant finally wandered off leisurely.

Feng Zhong felt a wave of lingering fear.

If he had called the drone back just now, he might have attracted the elephant.

Luckily, he reacted in time!

Feng Zhong breathed a sigh of relief, gaining a clearer understanding of the dangers in Caprivi.

...

The next day.

After waking up, Chen Wen first maintained the camp.

Then he armed himself with weapons and a water-filled bottle, planning to go out for exploration.

The first stop was with the hippopotamus.

After checking the hippo’s injuries, Chen Wen signaled it to rest in the water.

With the slow healing from the ”Animal Doctor,” the hippo’s recovery was just a matter of time.

The plan to capture Tilapia in cooperation with the hippo would wait until it recovered a bit more.

The second stop was the fishing trap.

Before reaching the trap, Chen Wen noticed something alive in it!

”Oh wow, did this trap work so quickly? Was there a catch overnight?”

Full of surprise, Chen Wen quickened his pace.

As he got closer, the contents of the trap made Chen Wen grin widely.

”Great, a tigerfish almost thirty centimeters long! That’s already a big catch!”

Chen Wen said as he hurried to the trap.

This tigerfish was full of energy.

Upon sensing Chen Wen’s approach, it immediately started struggling, its tail churning the river water non-stop, even attempting to jump up and take a bite at Chen Wen.

But once in the trap, its fate was sealed.

Chen Wen easily avoided the tigerfish’s jumping attack.

”It’s also a matter of luck for this guy. If it jumped to the right spot, it might have escaped,” Chen Wen couldn’t help but comment, observing the jump height of the tigerfish.

As he spoke, Chen Wen had already taken out the axe.

When the tigerfish fell back into the water, the axe followed.

With one strike on the tigerfish’s head, accompanied by the twitching of its tail,

the once energetic tigerfish gradually lost its vitality.

Chen Wen used the axe to chop off the tigerfish’s head; its head was indeed unsightly.

He didn’t plan to eat it.

Following the wound under the head, he sliced the fish open along the belly.

The innards were removed and left in the trap.

Fish scales were slightly scraped off.

The tigerfish quickly transitioned from river tyrant to culinary ingredient ready for the pot.

Washing off the remaining scales and blood from the tigerfish,

Chen Wen skewered the tigerfish on a spear, carried it on his back, and continued west for exploration.

Aside from environmental exploration and food gathering,

it was also to prepare for eliminating Yoshikawa Feng.

At the very least, he needed to map the area near Yoshikawa Feng’s survival zone.
