Chapter 352: Chapter 23: Killing the Crocodile

Chen Wen moved backward, with the Nile crocodile in pursuit.

But the distance between the man and the crocodile remained steady.

This was the result of Chen Wen’s deliberate strategy.

He constantly kept one leg dangling around thirty centimeters in front of the Nile crocodile’s eyes.

At this distance, the Nile crocodile could bite with a single charge.

But at this distance, as soon as the crocodile charged, Chen Wen could react and withdraw his leg.

The Nile crocodile chased Chen Wen for about six meters before stopping.

The animal’s instincts warned it that continuing the chase might lead to something unfortunate.

It wanted to leave.

Chen Wen glanced at the distance and linked it to the crocodile’s recent speed.

He shook his head slightly; the distance wasn’t enough.

If his first attack missed the vital point and the crocodile made a desperate escape,

there was still a chance it could get away.

Therefore, Chen Wen lured it again.

Suddenly, he kicked the lower part of the crocodile’s mouth with his leg.

Under the blessing of [Swift], the speed of this kick surpassed the Twelve Styles of Tan Legs.

The Nile crocodile was completely enraged.

Chen Wen’s action was even more infuriating than defecating on the crocodile’s head.

As a result, the crocodile abandoned thinking and instincts.

It chose to engage in a life-or-death struggle with this hateful biped, falling fully into Chen Wen’s trap.

Ten meters!

At this distance, unless the river suddenly surged or the crocodile’s parent descended from the sky,

it had no chance of escaping into the water!

Gripping a javelin, Chen Wen began his counterattack after the crocodile missed another charge.

He aimed at the crocodile’s eye and thrust the javelin fiercely.

He was using the javelin as a long spear.

This is what Lin Jiawei thought when he saw the scene.

The javelin’s speed was swift, piercing directly into the crocodile’s eye.

The eye, protected only by a nictitating membrane and not by an eyelid, was pierced by the javelin.

It was like a juicy grape being pierced by chopsticks, the juice exploded instantly.

The crocodile let out a howl.

The pain was excruciating!

Instinctively, it wanted to flee.

But after Chen Wen pulled out the javelin, he stepped forward and pierced the other eye again.

The first strike missed, and Chen Wen clicked his tongue.

But the ten-meter error margin was too high.

Chen Wen easily made a second jab.

Another grape burst.

The world of the crocodile descended into darkness.

Panic and immense pain drove it to bite madly around in an attempt to escape.

But ten meters from the water, the Nile crocodile had no chance.

Chen Wen seized an opportunity in the crocodile’s attack to get to its side.

Using the javelin as a lever, he inserted it into the crocodile’s side and lifted it up.

The crocodile’s body was raised on one side by Chen Wen’s strength.

Although it quickly adjusted its center of gravity and tried to bite Chen Wen,

without eyes, and on land, it was no match for Chen Wen.

Chen Wen flipped it over.

The pale belly was exposed, marking the end of the crocodile’s life.

Chen Wen held the javelin in one hand, stepping forward with his left foot on the crocodile’s belly.

Seizing the moment of its struggle, he raised the javelin high and thrust it into the front of its body.

Once, twice, thrice!

Three quick thrusts tore away a lot of flesh.

Under Chen Wen’s precise strikes, the crocodile’s body quickly lost strength.

It died.

One of the strikes seemed to have pierced its heart.

Chen Wen released his foot and waited for a while beside it.

After confirming that this Nile crocodile was absolutely, completely dead, he carefully approached, flipping it over.

”Three meters, definitely over three meters.”

Chen Wen roughly measured the crocodile’s length with his stride, and the achievement on his face was unmistakable.

After all, being able to single-handedly take down a three-meter-long river giant is an incredibly rare life experience.

”Unexpectedly, on the second day itself, food isn’t something to worry about for a while. I wonder how the others are doing, whether they too have achieved crocodile meat freedom like me?”

Chen Wen said, patting the crocodile’s pale white belly as if showing off.

Back at the camp,

several competitors’ assistants had a dark face and lowered their heads.

Damn it, can’t we have a pleasant conversation?

We admit you’re awesome, isn’t that enough?

But, to be honest, most competitors’ assistants no longer held any malice toward Chen Wen.

They were even considering whether to approach him for a relationship, for survival collaboration in the future.

After all, a survival expert like him, fierce and pragmatic, could become wildly popular anytime.

Establishing a relationship early on could mean riding the wave of their success when they skyrocket, couldn’t it?

After some contemplation, many assistants happily went over to Lin Jiawei’s side.

Building relationships naturally starts with the assistants.

Though Lin Jiawei didn’t understand the sudden warmth from everyone, he had the hospitable DNA of a Hua Country native.

He happily communicated with the many assistants, watching Chen Wen’s next move along the way.

However, these actions made Yoshikawa Feng’s assistant envious and subsequently frustrated.

Teacher, why doesn’t my Chuanfeng receive such treatment?

Oh, him, restart it.

...

To Chen Wen, killing a Nile crocodile that had landed would rate only five stars in difficulty out of a maximum of ten.

Moderate difficulty.

But ensuring that the carcass of a dead Nile crocodile in the Caprivi Strip wouldn’t be discovered by other wild beasts, while roasting it and eating it all,

this task felt to Chen Wen vaguely like a nine-star difficulty.

Extremely challenging!

”Conquering is hard, maintaining is harder.”

Chen Wen looked at the dead Nile crocodile and began planning how to preserve it.

And ensure that top predators with exceptional sensory organs wouldn’t discover it.

”The gutting and cleaning of the internal organs must not be done back at the camp,”

Chen Wen said to the camera, ”In the Caprivi Strip, many predators have extremely keen senses, particularly to the smell of blood.”

”If you don’t want to wake up seeing a leopard above you, sand cats cuddled beside you, and hyena and lion packs under your feet looking for their dues, you better heed my advice.”

Using exaggerated rhetoric, Chen Wen felt that he had made the danger of handling the crocodile at the camp clear.

”So, I’ve decided to gut this Nile crocodile here, remove its organs, and discard them on the riverbank nearby.”

Chen Wen’s goal was clear: to not let the smell of blood return to camp with him.

He took out the javelin, pierced the crocodile’s abdominal skin with the tip, and slit it open.

The crocodile’s organs were relatively easy to remove.

Standing by the river, Chen Wen cautiously watched for other crocodiles while extracting the organs and discarding them on the riverbank.

As for the crocodile’s body, Chen Wen repeatedly washed it until the blood almost stopped appearing before halting.

Handling the crocodile took Chen Wen almost half an hour.

This was without removing the crocodile’s scales or skinning it.

If done more meticulously, it would likely take even longer.

However, he did not remove the skin or scales.

Chen Wen had some ideas about cooking the crocodile.

After the survival experience in the Yukon, his former teammate—the cook Du Feng—had mentioned some new thoughts on wilderness cooking to Chen Wen.

He and Du Feng had discussed this once, and Du Feng’s new ideas inspired him, providing new insights.

This time, he intended to test these ideas, seeing if they could be practical in the wild.
