Wilderness Survival with Druid System

Chapter 359: Chapter 30: The First Special Animal

At the same time.

In a forest about two kilometers away from Chen Wen.

Brad endured the hunger and carefully stored away the last can of food.

He tightened the waterproof cloth on his body and leaned against the trunk to rest.

Having grown up in the South American Rainforest, Brad was already used to spending the night in trees.

”I’m almost out of food, I must find Chen Wen quickly, or I’ll be eliminated!”

Brad murmured with closed eyes, ”I wonder where Yoshikawa Feng is now. If he finds Chen Wen first, the two of us teaming up would greatly increase our chances of winning.”

...

On Feng Zhong’s side.

He rubbed his aching shoulder and leaned against the earth wall to rest.

Faced with ups and downs, Feng Zhong’s heart remained calm.

He had gotten used to the unexpected situations of survival.

After the elephant herd destroyed his home, he found a new shelter.

An abandoned hyena den.

There was hardly any hyena droppings here, and the den was severely eroded.

After arriving at the den, Feng Zhong did some simple tidying up and moved in.

Although this place wasn’t as safe as his previous shelter, the resources around were abundant.

Feng Zhong was confident that he could rise again by taking advantage of this place.

As for finding Chen Wen.

Feng Zhong temporarily put the matter aside.

After all, in an individual contest, what’s the point of a team?

...

Adam and Rock successfully regrouped, and by combining tools, survived steadily.

However, Adam also had an aggressive plan in mind.

There was a lone Nile crocodile in a nearby swamp.

Although it was large, nearly four meters, one of its front legs was missing.

It was a disabled crocodile.

Adam felt this was the peak of his luck.

Hunting down this disabled crocodile wouldn’t be difficult.

He began meticulous planning.

The distance between Kaelian and Jamie was also getting closer.

Vanessa held steady, currently struggling to survive.

Ivan was on the way.

As the third day of survival came to an end.

The contestants’ situations stabilized.

Every contestant, at this moment, had their own set of advantages and disadvantages.

Survival had entered the critical phase.

Abel closed the journal, pondering: In the next three days, if sufficient food and a safe shelter couldn’t be found.

Some people might get eliminated.

The moment of testing the editing skills had arrived.

Abel thought so.

...

On the morning of the fourth day.

There wasn’t any plan for today.

Chen Wen roughly thought through and felt that he didn’t lack anything at the moment.

The only thing missing might be transferring the fire to the treehouse.

But transferring the campfire wasn’t difficult.

It just needed a stove built with mud on the treehouse.

”The stove work can be done in the afternoon, let’s head to the riverbank to fetch some water this morning, and take a look at the distribution of prey around.”

Chen Wen reluctantly set the day’s plan.

With a water bottle in hand, Chen Wen walked to the riverbank.

But before reaching the riverbank, Chen Wen first used a drone to survey the situation around the riverbank.

”Nile crocodiles aren’t considered dangerous, the large ones are sunbathing on the shore, and that hippopotamus...”

Chen Wen watched for a while but didn’t see any sign of the hippopotamus on the river.

”Is it dead? Or did it go somewhere else?”

Chen Wen said in surprise.

Hearing this, even Lin Jiawei checked through the drone and also didn’t see any trace of the hippopotamus.

”Looks like the riverbank is safe now!”

Chen Wen was overjoyed.

The departure of the aggressive neighbor was an excellent turn of events for him.

With the hippopotamus gone, his living space would be much safer.

After confirming safety, Chen Wen confidently stepped out of his hiding place.

Upon reaching the riverbank, Chen Wen fetched water, washed his hands, and washed his face.

And just as Chen Wen was washing his hands.

In the river.

Accompanied by slight bubbling sounds.

A scarred hippopotamus surfaced.

Of course, it wasn’t dead, but alive.

The hippopotamus’s ears twitched and it heard the sound from Chen Wen’s direction.

And its nose picked up Chen Wen’s scent.

Though it didn’t see clearly, the hippopotamus indeed locked onto Chen Wen’s position.

A hint of anger flashed in its eyes.

The failure and humiliation of last night were still fresh in the hippopotamus’s memory.

Silently, it exhaled and submerged again.

This time its target was clear—Chen Wen at the shore.

But Chen Wen wasn’t just a sitting duck.

When he looked up once, Chen Wen noticed the ripples on the water.

He immediately became alert.

”What the hell is that!”

Chen Wen immediately went ashore, grabbing his steel javelin, using it as a long spear.

He watched the water cautiously and soon spotted the thing causing the ripples.

”That hippopotamus!”

Chen Wen’s expression tensed, and he turned around to leave.

After being discovered, the hippopotamus no longer pretended.

It suddenly leaped onto the riverbank, its four short legs moving at high frequency, charging at Chen Wen at high speed.

Knowing the explosive power of a hippopotamus, Chen Wen didn’t continue to run.

After the hippopotamus accelerated upon reaching the shore, he changed direction, facing the hippopotamus, ready for battle.

When the hippopotamus rushed over, its jaws wide open, tusks flaring.

Chen Wen suddenly dashed to the side of the hippopotamus.

Its massive weight, which usually allowed it to dominate, became its shackles at this moment.

As Chen Wen changed direction, the hippopotamus missed its target.

It just attempted to change direction to attack Chen Wen, but Chen Wen nimbly circled around behind it.

Chen Wen raised the javelin but hesitated, not striking.

He didn’t want an all-out fight to the death with this hippopotamus.

Chen Wen pondered and decided to leave from the side of the hippopotamus, using a zigzag escape route to completely shake off the hippopotamus.

With a flick of his body, avoiding the hippopotamus’s sight.

Chen Wen carefully escaped to the side.

As he fled, he said, ”To deal with such large, clumsy creatures, it’s best to use a zigzag escape route. Their big size and heavy weight mean they have a lot of inertia, making turning difficult, so every turn reduces their speed significantly, limiting their speed.”

Listening to Chen Wen’s advice, Abel scratched his head vigorously.

Isn’t this a critical moment?

Why is he analyzing now?

Unfathomable, truly unfathomable!

...

On Chen Wen’s side.

With his analysis complete.

Chen Wen began to widen the distance from the hippopotamus using a zigzag route.

But just when Chen Wen thought the hippopotamus would angrily and clumsily chase after him, then get fooled by him again.

The hippopotamus stopped in its tracks.

It emitted an angry snorting sound.

”Filthy baboon! Come near the river again and I’ll bite you to death!”

A voice with an obvious middle-aged man’s tone reached Chen Wen’s ears.

Hiss!

A hint of disbelief flashed in Chen Wen’s eyes.

Is this hippopotamus a special animal?

What’s going on?

Last night it didn’t make a sound?

The hippopotamus roared in frustration and planned to leave.

But Chen Wen wouldn’t let it go.

Sneakily turning off the sound equipment, Chen Wen took a step forward.

”Hey, can you understand what I’m saying?”

The hippopotamus remained silent, just continued to head toward the river.

Seeing this, Chen Wen became intrigued.

This was the first time he encountered such an aggressive special animal.

Even after gaining the ability to communicate, it remained filled with rage.

Chen Wen took a step forward, provocatively flicking sand with the javelin towards the hippopotamus.

The damage wasn’t great, but the insult was immense.

Even the dim-witted regular hippopotamus couldn’t tolerate it, let alone this hippopotamus?

The hippopotamus turned its body again, growling angrily, in a muffled voice, ”Baboon! Do you want to die? I’ll kill you!”

It said so, but seeing the javelin in Chen Wen’s hand, its eyes flashed with caution.

With a bit of intelligence, it could sense that the thing wasn’t simple!
