Chapter 364: Chapter 35: Unlucky Brad

As the orange sun dipped below the western horizon.

The night gradually took over the sky.

Accompanied by the roars, howls, and growls of various animals.

Caprivi entered the night.

The hippo went ashore early, according to Chen Wen’s instructions, to feed around the camp.

It ate while spinning its short tail, marking its territory.

Chen Wen lay inside the shelter, heating crocodile meat, eating leisurely.

After finishing the meat and taking a sip of water.

Chen Wen endured the stench, lying on the platform of the treehouse, pretending to sleep.

He was acting, letting the attacker believe he had an opportunity.

...

In the same forest.

In the remaining sunlight, Brad cleaned out the last can.

He braced himself and picked up the machete.

Of course, not to kill anyone.

Although the rules allow contestants to fight openly and covertly, Abel ordered that no blood be shed.

This is so the show can air in countries with strict ratings.

Brad took the machete mainly for showmanship, to intimidate Chen Wen.

Of course, in Brad’s plan.

He only needed to approach quietly, climb the tree, hold Chen Wen down, and force him to hand over the satellite phone.

...

On the production team’s side.

None of the contestants’ assistants left; instead, they were all glued to two computer screens, watching with great interest.

This was the first clash between the contestants.

Missing it would be a huge loss.

So, almost everyone was focused on Brad attacking Chen Wen.

Abel was also waiting in anticipation.

But he was expecting Chen Wen’s counterattack.

In his view, it was impossible for Chen Wen to be caught off guard.

But if he really was, the show’s impact would still be maximized.

A contestant who has tamed a hippo, in a head-on confrontation, would basically be eliminated unless three survivors teamed up.

And those three united survivors can’t be too weak.

At the very least, they should be at Ivan’s level—Rock is a bit lacking.

For such a contestant to be ambushed by someone lesser like Brad.

Brad could gain legendary status!

Of course, the odds are extremely low.

Abel prepared chips and coffee, planning to enjoy the show before resting.

But nobody knew, Chen Wen had already discovered Brad.

He let the grumpy hippo guard near the camp.

As soon as Brad got close.

He would face a dual blow from Chen Wen and the hippo.

...

On the hippo’s side.

After eating for a while, it decided to stop and rest.

Hippos don’t eat until they’re full; they also need to rest during feeding.

Some even return to the water to soak, to prevent their skin from cracking.

So, the hippo stopped near Chen Wen’s camp, motionless, starting to rest.

Buzz buzz buzz...

The slightly silent night sky.

A drone broke the peace, slowly approaching Chen Wen’s location.

Chen Wen did not open his eyes but heard the noise of the drone.

He pretended not to know, breathing evenly, looking as if he was sound asleep.

Through the drone’s real-time footage.

Brad watched this scene.

”Hey, you deserve to be eliminated, falling asleep in such a dangerous place.”

Brad laughed quite happily: ”But he’s on a tree, not easy to get up to, troublesome!”

”But I just noticed, there’s a lot of meat on his shelter!”

Speaking of meat, Brad’s eyes sparkled green.

He was really hungry.

After walking for so long, he hadn’t eaten much.

Just barely enough to stop from starving.

But far from full.

So, after seeing the meat, Brad’s rationality further diminished.

He now only wanted to quickly eliminate Chen Wen, take over his shelter, eat his hunted meat, and enjoy his campfire!

So, Brad no longer hesitated.

He crouched low, silently approaching Chen Wen’s side.

Having lived in the rainforest for so many years, Brad had rich stealth experience.

Soon, under the faint starlight and moonlight, Brad discovered a large rock.

He approached the rock, planned to adjust for a moment, then strike directly at Chen Wen.

However, when he walked near the rock, Brad couldn’t help but waft the air in front of his nose.

”Damn, what’s that smell, so stinky! Is this his latrine?”

Brad couldn’t help but say.

If it were a contestant like Adam, they would have turned and left after catching a whiff.

Because this smell definitely wasn’t left by humans.

There was surely a beast nearby!

But Brad was different, he sat at the same table as Gaston.

So, Brad slowly approached the rock.

The ”rock” hippo was depressed, listening to the footsteps gradually approach, feeling a bit nervous.

Are two-legged baboons—no, are humans really that formidable?

Even after smelling my scent, they dare to come closer?

To say someone sits at the same table with Gaston.

Brad’s luck was really something.

Facing his approach, the hippo felt quite panicked.

The trauma Chen Wen inflicted on it during the day was too great.

Causing it to develop a slight fear of the human species.

So, after Brad got close, its body stiffened, not attacking Brad immediately.

In the hippo’s inaction, Brad crouched down beside the hippo, placing the tarp and canisters there.

Then, he stood up, taking the machete.

At that moment, he felt something was off.

”This rock... doesn’t look quite right, round and... the closer you are, the stronger the smell.”

Brad muttered, planning to circle to the side of the rock.

Just as he came around to the side of the rock, the hippo opened its eyes and met Brad’s gaze.

Brad was stunned.

That was his immediate reaction.

The hippo was also a bit dazed.

Are humans really that fierce?

However, because it sensed the ferocity of humans, the hippo’s inner fury was provoked.

It got angry.

Humans are this fierce, how can a hippo lag behind?

With the hippo’s loud snort.

It slowly stood up.

From above, Chen Wen heard the commotion and immediately opened his eyes.

The hippo encountered Brad!

Chen Wen rolled over, grabbed the spear, and jumped down.

Landing with bent knees to absorb the impact.

Chen Wen quickly searched for the hippo’s whereabouts.

Soon, with the help of [Extreme Vision], he found Brad and the hippo.

By then, Brad was already scared out of his wits.

He couldn’t understand why a hippo was cosplaying as a rock at Chen Wen’s camp.

And it tricked him.

Brad mustered the courage to get his legs moving.

He had to run!

Brad’s courage wasn’t enough to support a desperate fight with the hippo, but running away was no problem.

With a scream, Brad turned and ran.

Hearing Brad’s roar, the hippo was startled, thinking Brad was going to fight it to the death.

But it couldn’t fathom that Brad actually turned and fled.

This transformed the hippo’s tension and fear into anger and shame.

It roared: ”Stop! You vile human! I will kill you!”

Then, like mad, the hippo chased after him, determined to catch this human who made it stress for nothing.

Kill him!

Seeing this scene, Chen Wen was stunned.

Really?

Was Brad really this brave?

Actually grabbing a machete and confronting a hippo?

Impressive!

From now on, I won’t let you sit at the same table with Gaston; you’ll have a table to yourself!

Sharing your table, maybe only Wolf Mink and the Honey Badger are worthy!
