Chapter 938: Chapter 26: Major Disadvantage

The second daytime quickly came to an end, and now there are three key suspects: Pibang, Glasses, Cat woman.

Su Xiao considered confronting the three to force Alice out, but this method isn’t practical, as there’s no mutual trust among the eight people.

Once Su Xiao attacks one of the three, the other two won’t stand idly by, and Alice can choose not to reveal herself. It must be understood that the only way to end the game is to identify who Alice’s clone is, not to kill Alice’s clone. If you can’t identify Alice’s clone, even killing her clone is pointless, unless you can kill it in the night. In that case, Alice won’t be able to appear in the subsequent daytime, and you only need to doubt whoever didn’t appear during the daytime.

It’s different during the daytime. If Alice’s clone chooses to stay hidden all the time, even if Su Xiao kills the disguised Alice, the game won’t end but will become more troublesome. If he kills the wrong person, he’ll forfeit a chance to question. Everyone has one questioning right, which can’t be used by those who die; this is obvious. The headache is that Alice’s clone also has a questioning right.

Pibang, Glasses, and Cat woman won’t sacrifice themselves for the sake of others, and self-sacrifice could be counterproductive.

Therefore, killing during the daytime is useless and will backfire. The only way to end the game is to find out who Alice’s clone is; there’s no other way.

Initially, Su Xiao felt the game was similar to Werewolf, but after some understanding, he found Werewolf too simple in comparison.

The game rules are skewed towards Alice; there’s no fairness to speak of. Alice barely shows any flaws, and if the seven game days pass, Alice will win, which is the biggest disadvantage for the Contractors.

The disadvantage of the Contractors is indeed significant. However, after the first dark night, this disadvantage disappeared because Alice chose to attack Su Xiao but didn’t kill him, putting Alice at a disadvantage.

What Su Xiao doesn’t know is that Alice acted out of personal grievance. She was once nearly strangled on the Void platform by the Shadow of Annihilation Law.

Su Xiao knows he isn’t Alice, so the remaining targets of suspicion are Pibang, Glasses, Cat woman, National Foot Boss, and National Foot Elder Two.

Among these five, Pibang, Glasses, and Cat woman are the most suspicious; among these, Pibang and Cat woman are more likely to be Alice.

Tomorrow, Su Xiao will choose between Pibang and Cat woman to question. As for catering to the crowd to question himself, he has no plans to do so. If others want to doubt him, they can go ahead. It doesn’t concern him. Ultimately, the reason why eight people can calmly discuss who Alice is because of the game rules, and victory is key.

Returning to his room, Su Xiao waits for the dark night to arrive.

[The dark night is about to fall.]

[3.2.1, the dark night arrives!]

The room becomes dim again, Bubu Wang lazily lies on the bed. It can guess Alice won’t come tonight unless she’s passively gaming. Otherwise, she won’t attack Su Xiao tonight.

In the pitch-dark corridor, a door quietly opens, and a figure steps out noiselessly. As it moves forward, its form changes into Alice’s clone wrapped in black mist.

Alice’s clone doesn’t rush to choose a room; she first walks downstairs and sits on the sofa, looking up at rooms number 1 to 8.

”I can’t deal with him for now. With that presence sheltering him, aside from legitimate means in the game, I can’t use other ways to kill him, nor can I break the game’s rules.”

Alice’s clone sighs, dismissing the idea of attacking Su Xiao again.

”It’s time to enjoy the game. That little girl is smart; Alice loves such gamers, especially the expression when that little girl collapses...”

Alice stands up and walks towards room number one.

...

Su Xiao sits cross-legged in the room, listening intently to the sound of high heels on the floor. Suddenly, a shout breaks out.

”Yaa...YAA|Mie|Die!!”

A loud cry comes from the next room, and Su Xiao’s eyes snap open.

”Wait, what are you doing, wuu~”

The sound from room number one disappears.

”Was there a victim? Unexpectedly, Alice attacked her.”

Alice’s move puzzles Su Xiao. Normally, she shouldn’t attack Detective Little Girl, and the only reason is Alice isn’t playing to win; she’s just enjoying the game. Thinking this way, Detective Little Girl’s reasoning ability undoubtedly heightens the game’s intrigue.

In Su Xiao’s view, Detective Little Girl is highly likely to survive till the end, but now it seems otherwise.

After the sound from next door disappears, there’s a deathly silence all around that lasts for two hours.

[Tip: The third daytime begins.]

[Tip: Information provided by the lucky passer-through has been placed in the hall.]

[Tip: Last night, game player number five died (Cat woman).]

[Tip: Last night, game player number three violated game rules (Pibang), unable to leave their room during the third daytime.]

[Tip: Last night, game player number four violated game rules (Golden Glasses Man), unable to leave their room during the third daytime.]

[Tip: Last night, game player number six violated game rules (National Foot Boss), unable to leave their room during the third daytime.]

[Tip: Last night, game player number seven violated game rules (National Foot Elder Two), unable to leave their room during the third daytime.]

...

Receiving this string of tips, Su Xiao’s pupils narrow. Cat woman is dead, and Pibang, Glasses man, National Foot Boss, and Elder Two all violated game rules, meaning they only stay in the room during the third daytime.

In just one night, the situation shifted from advantage to enormous disadvantage. Now, only Su Xiao, Detective Little Girl, and National Foot Elder Three can move freely. Detective Little Girl surprisingly survived the attack, which is a bit unexpected.

National Foot Elder Three is too reliable, so his role in the game is not significant. This means only Su Xiao and Detective Little Girl remain to uncover Alice.

The situation has seen a dramatic reversal, with Alice turning her disadvantage into a significant advantage in just one night. As for Pibang, Glasses man, National Foot Boss, and Elder Two, how they violated the rules is evident; it must be due to Alice’s clone.

There is some good news; the lucky gamer has already provided a small amount of information, which is crucial.

In Su Xiao’s view, that Contract member’s experience isn’t considered lucky at all. They can’t directly participate in the game, and their fate entirely depends on the performance of the other seven people. This is not luck but misfortune.

Su Xiao exits the room and happens to encounter National Foot Elder Three. Neither speaks, but they head downstairs to sit on the sofa.

Only three people remain who can freely move, and only Su Xiao retains the right to question. It’s not Alice’s clone deliberately leaving Su Xiao to add some difficulty to the game, but through the encounter on the first dark night, Alice’s clone realizes she can’t pin down Su Xiao, which explains why she didn’t go looking for Su Xiao last night.

Su Xiao remains with the only usable questioning right, not because of luck, but because he’s strong enough. It reminds him of the line of blood text he saw on the ceiling before: ’On the third layer, strength is the hard truth; Alice’s clone isn’t unbeatable.’
