Chapter 920: Chapter 9: Bargaining

Sha chewed the Soul Crystals, crushing them before swallowing.

”This is the hope of freedom...”

Sha’s lips curled up, a wisp of black mist drifted out from her body, gradually dissipating into the air.

Seeing this black mist, Su Xiao squinted; he didn’t know what the mist was, but after it left Sha’s body, he felt her aura grow a bit stronger, albeit it was negligibly small.

More precisely, Sha didn’t get stronger, but rather, some of her power was restored.

”It seems pure souls are quite beneficial to you.”

Su Xiao had mostly figured it out.

”Of course, as long as there are enough pure souls, I can regain my freedom, and break free from Alice’s control.”

Sha didn’t hide anything, she sat on the bed, crossing her legs.

”That b**ch Alice sealed me. If it were an unbreakable seal, it wouldn’t be long before I’d end myself, but that b**ch is smart; she gave me a glimmer of hope. As long as I absorb pure souls, the seal inside me will gradually peel away. When the seal is completely gone, I’ll be free.

It’s not just me; everyone in the castle is the same. An Liya, that little girl, breaks her seal with candy. Candy is relatively easy to obtain, so she can only eat three pieces a day. That little girl has hamster-like tendencies, storing candy. A certain ’bat’ needs human blood, blood from a human of a certain strength. A certain Water Buffalo needs Sacred objects, which you know as... right, equipment.”

Sha’s personality is bold; she’s a woman with a very strong close combat ability and eight-pack abs, yet her build isn’t considered burly. If she’s wrapped tightly, the enemy might mistake her for a tall, slim woman.

From Sha’s description, Su Xiao had some understanding of the Demon Castle’s first floor. Aside from the ’Game Room,’ other rooms were cells.

There are 48 plot creatures here; they come from different worlds, with various races, each with their own specialized abilities. Not just anyone qualifies to be imprisoned here.

Before these prisoners manage to break their seals, they cannot leave their rooms or the castle; otherwise, they will be cleared by the Wolf Steward.

The Wolf Steward and the Demon Servants are not prisoners. They hold a status similar to ’staff’ within the castle, directly under Alice.

Some prisoners are quite stubborn, unwilling to be manipulated by Alice. They belong to the kind with whom negotiation is nearly impossible, even with an introduction.

Some prisoners have accepted their fate, hoping to break the seal soon and gain freedom, like the little hamster An Liya.

Others are conflicted, imprisoned for too long. They want to break the seal but refuse to be controlled by Alice, like Sha.

Consequently, Sha set two standards: sufficiently strong (close combat ability) and pleasing to the eye.

Su Xiao falls into the category of being strong but not very pleasing to the eye. However, he has a lot of introduction letters, annoying Sha to no end.

In exasperation, Sha chose to let Su Xiao in for a thrashing. Yet, after exchanging blows with Su Xiao, Sha inexplicably changed her mind and chose to negotiate with him; the exact reason is still unknown.

”In adherence to the principle of fair trade, since you provided pure souls, you can learn an ability from me. I don’t know much, just this.”

Sha raised her fist.

”I’m not much interested in close combat; I rely on this in battles.”

Su Xiao tapped the scabbard of Dragon Slash with his finger.

”Tch, a weakling who relies on external objects.”

Sha sneered at Su Xiao’s combat style of using a sword. But is that really the case? Not at all.

On Sha’s collarbone, there was a thirty-centimeter-long scar, and upon seeing it, Su Xiao immediately deduced it was a sword wound.

From any angle, Su Xiao’s sword technique restrained melee-type enemies, and the sword wasn’t an external object. When he held the sword, Dragon Slash became an extension of his arm. He could even feel the breeze brushing against its blade.

The reason Sha said that was most likely that she had been schooled by a sword technique expert, understanding how sword techniques greatly restrained close combat abilities.

”Not interested in close combat? Then what do you want to learn? My strongest abilities are two: Scorpion Tail Swing and Rushing Fist. If you don’t want to learn those, I have nothing to offer.”

Sha yawned, seemingly intending to renege?

”I want to learn that beast-like intuition of yours.”

”It’s intuition, not perception. Intuition and perception are two different things. Intuition serves as a warning, while perception enhances one’s senses during combat.”

”Whatever, how do I master this ability? What’s the cost?”

Su Xiao had his eyes on Sha’s ’Beast Intuition (Passive LV.59)’. He wasn’t blinded by Sha’s skill levels; those Level 69 active skills might seem fierce but weren’t suitable for Su Xiao. What’s best is what fits you; otherwise, even the strongest ability is useless.

Of Sha’s abilities, Su Xiao was interested in two:

Skill 3: Beast Intuition (Passive LV.59)

Skill 4: Combat Expertise (Passive Lv.53)

...

As for ’Master of Close Combat (Passive Lv.67)’, the ability seems suitable for Su Xiao, but in reality, it’s not. Everyone’s basic close combat ability has its own inclination. For instance, Su Xiao’s basic close combat ability, ’Sword Technique Master Lv.39,’ leans towards sword techniques. If he were to teach others in fist techniques, he’d be just as baffled. ℯℯ𝑙.

Sha’s situation is similar; her ’Master of Close Combat (Passive Lv.67)’ is inclined towards fist techniques, unrelated to sword techniques.

”Beast Intuition... are you sure?”

Sha almost pronounced ’are you sure’ word by word, and hearing this tone, Bu Wang took a few steps back.

”Sure.”

”Don’t blame me if you die, and if you want me to teach you this ability, the pure soul’s amount earlier isn’t enough.”

”Name your price.”

”A hundred of those from earlier.”

”Two.”

”A hundred.”

”Two.”

Hearing their negotiating style, Bu Wang rolled his eyes, wanting to comment, ”Isn’t the price disparity a bit large? Is it because of middlemen?”

After intense negotiation, Su Xiao ultimately paid 7 Soul Crystals (Small) to have Lisa guide him in mastering ’Beast Intuition.’

Initially, Su Xiao thought the first floor of the Demon Castle was somewhat similar to Reincarnation Paradise’s Trial Field. However, it’s not the case.

In the Trial Field, learning skills in the Mirror Image was difficult, usually only enhancing already mastered skills; its main purpose was teaching combat techniques.

Whereas on the first floor of the Demon Castle, skills are taught. As long as you pay the right price or chips, you can learn the skills you fancy here.
