Chapter 932: Chapter 21: Unconventional Thinking

Receiving this series of prompts, Su Xiao immediately rushed out of the room with Bu Wang.

”Pay attention to scents and auras, though the likelihood of detection is low.”

Su Xiao instructed Bu Wang, who barked to indicate he understood.

Bang, bang, bang...

Several door-slamming sounds echoed, and eight people almost simultaneously dashed out of their rooms, each standing on the platform in front of their respective rooms.

”A detective game, huh? I like it.”

The Detective Little Girl adjusted the cap on her head, appearing mysterious and enigmatic.

”Based on known information, it seems Alice is hiding among us.”

The Golden Glasses Man scanned the group, finally fixing his gaze on Su Xiao, then shook his head after a moment.

”It’s likely not purely a detective game but more of an elimination game.”

Cat Woman spoke, remaining wary of everyone since anyone could be Alice in disguise.

”What do you mean?”

National Foot Elder Three showed some confusion.

”If it were a simple detective game, there’d be no need for a day-and-night cycle, just daylight is enough. What’s the significance of night? It should be said that it’s not safe even inside the room at night. This is Alice’s castle; she can freely enter and exit all rooms, entering at night to kill. With five attributes at 80 points and all skills at Level 40, that kind of combat strength is terrifying. In just a few game days, the number will sharply decrease.”

Cat Woman’s expression was not peasant; she’s not good at this type of game.

”Not correct.”

The Detective Little Girl flatly rejected, becoming very active from the start of the game.

”This is indeed a detective game; night is just a smoke bomb. If someone truly dies at night, Alice can pretended to be dead, hiding inside a room, only coming out at night to kill. She can mingle among the living or the dead, compared to living people who frequently appear during daylight, the dead more easily hide her identity.”

The Detective Little Girl seemed to have activated some mode and grew very confident.

”Let’s not talk about these details for now and summarize the game rules.”

The Golden Glasses Man started walking to the downstairs lounge, and quickly, eight people stood around the sofa; during daylight, Alice is unlikely to make a move.

Su Xiao kept pondering one question: can Alice’s clone be directly eliminated? With five attributes at 80 points and skills at Level 40, it’s indeed strong. But for Su Xiao, it wasn’t unconquerable. His four attributes at 80 points weren’t just for show; even if he couldn’t win, holding out for two hours wasn’t a problem. If attacked, he could survive through a night.

Su Xiao could live through a night under Alice clone’s assault. Golden Glasses Man, however, didn’t share this sentiment; to him, an enemy with five attributes at 80 points was already desperate. As for skills at Level 40, his survival chances were slim.

”Firstly, we have seven opportunities, which means seven rights to question during the seven days. Every day, one person out of the eight can use their questioning rights; others must wait for the next day for their turn, so these questioning rights are key to our victory.”

The Golden Glasses Man crossed his hands; it’s his habitual gesture.

”I propose.”

The Detective Little Girl piped up, pointing at herself: ”We question ourselves.”

The Golden Glasses Man’s eyes lit up: ”This idea could be feasible.”

”I oppose.”

National Foot Boss spoke up.

”Why?”

”The validity of self-questioning is unknown, posing significant risk.”

”I agree with National Foot’s viewpoint.”

Cat Woman also spoke.

”In that case, let’s question in the order of room numbers.”

The Golden Glasses Man offered a suggestion.

”I agree.”

”I oppose.”

This time, Su Xiao opposed; he hadn’t spoken before, and The Golden Glasses Man looked at him.

”Why?”

”If anyone dies at night, it will disrupt the questioned and inquisitor’s sequence. I suggest the elimination method.”

”I agree.” ×3

The National Team Brothers instantly agreed with Su Xiao’s point; it wasn’t due to familiarity but because elimination would undoubtedly first exclude them.

”Makes sense, so we’ll use the elimination method and first clear the National Team Brothers of suspicion. But the questioning rights have significant flaws; eliminating sequentially involves considerable luck; good luck is delightful, bad luck means even if we survive the game, more than half of us might die.”

The Golden Glasses Man made a valid point. Self-questioning, questioning according to room number order, or elimination all had flaws, entangled with countless details like who uses the questioning right first and whether Alice employed a smoke bomb tactic.

Ultimately, the optimal method was to observe temporarily and question Alice based on clues.

”Messy. Nothing works. Should we wait to die?”

Cat Woman hammered the stone table.

”Calm down.”

The Golden Glasses Man furrowed his brows.

”I’m very calm. Everyone, Alice is among us, and how terrifying her combat strength is, you all understand. Thus, trust is non-existent between us. Say, today’s questioning right during daylight: we eight are here, the game day lasts seven, so Alice may not be questioned. Adding that deaths might occur during the game, it’s clear who uses questioning rights first is safer; Alice will attempt to reduce the number of times we can question. Those lacking questioning rights are safer.”

Everyone made valid points, yet only one correct answer existed, but unfortunately, Su Xiao couldn’t figure it out.

Su Xiao wasn’t a master strategist by nature, although not lacking in intelligence and abilities for basic planning; he’s not of the cunning type. His approach to Alice’s clone was simple: if she came for him, he’d find a way to kill her. Even if he couldn’t, she couldn’t kill him in a short period. The challenge was to identify Alice among them within seven game days; once the game ended and the Wolf Steward appeared, the enemy’s five attributes wouldn’t just be 80 points.

Su Xiao’s reasoning was quite unconventional. While others considered avoiding Alice’s clone, he thought about how to kill Alice’s clone.

This game seemed straightforward but was intricate; Alice’s clone disguised as a Contractor left no flaws, making it impossible to expose through habitual gestures but observing for behaviors inconsistent with others.

”We’re overthinking things; let’s change our approach, simplifying the matter. Let’s use the elimination method to first eliminate the National Team Brothers.”

The Detective Little Girl noticed the situation going astray; continued suspicion would only worsen matters.

”I agree.”

”I agree.”

Su Xiao and Pibang spoke together.

Su Xiao glanced at Pibang, who nodded.

”Does anyone disagree with us?”

Pibang stood up. Besides Su Xiao, the other six wore baffled expressions.

”Cough... my bad, does anyone disagree with us?”

Pibang stood beside Su Xiao, who now understood Pibang’s intention.

Pibang and Su Xiao appeared as those with exceptional combat strength, and the Detective Little Girl shrank her neck under their gaze.

”I, I’m convinced.”

The Detective Little Girl timidly raised her hand; disagreement would be deadly.

”I’m convinced too.”

The Golden Glasses Man replied solemnly, also recognizing the current circumstances.

”We three brothers have no objections.”

”I equally have no objections.”

Cat Woman temporarily showed submission despite her wildness, upon receiving the group’s responses, Pibang exhaled quietly and said:

”The little girl is right; overcomplicating the game leads to death. Alice induces mutual suspicion; therefore, let’s cease suspicion. The first day, we’ll conduct a test combining elimination, room number sequence, and self-voting.”

”This method...is feasible!”

The Detective Little Girl realized something, promptly agreeing with Pibang’s idea.

”An adventure is needed; hence, the first day we’ll risk testing the validity of self-voting. First, based on room number, National Foot Elder Three will question himself, then proceed sequentially. If someone dies during the period and happens to have used questioning rights, it’s case-dependent.”

Pibang’s method can be considered the most prudent, matching his stable physique.

Questioning went in the order: first National Foot Elder Three, afterward National Foot Elder Two, pushed back according to room numbers. As per Pibang’s thinking, confirming whether Alice impersonated the National Team Brothers was indispensable. The team can exert the largest influence, and according to probability, it’s highest Alice hid among them. Inter-team identification is impractical; if Alice’s disguise was clumsy, she’d be caught long before. Alice comes equipped with the impersonated individual’s memory like a Storage Space ability, including their number; hence, finding her via a reconnaissance equipment is unproductive.

”Um... can’t we question Number One first? My suspicion is not small either.”

The Detective Little Girl chimed in.

”No, National Foot’s issue must be resolved first, given they deliberately chose adjacent rooms. Let’s start voting.”

Everyone’s gaze turned to National Foot Elder Three, who lowered his eyelids.
