Chapter 914: Chapter 3: Fate’s Choice

”Give it to me, open...”

The sullen man’s face turned red as he struggled against the chains, causing them to crack loudly. With a clanging sound, the iron chain shattered. The sullen man stumbled forward a few steps, appearing somewhat exhausted. He must have used some kind of overexertion skill.

The sullen man looked at the golden glasses man, who had already freed himself from the chains, though he wasn’t sure how.

”Hey~ can anyone lend a hand?”

The detective little girl wore a distressed expression; she was indeed a support class.

”A lady’s request, of course, I dare not refuse.”

The golden glasses man stepped forward, placing a single hand on the chains. They began to tremble as if enduring unimaginable pain.

With a clattering sound, the chains unfurled, allowing the detective little girl to successfully break free.

”Thank you.”

The detective little girl let out a sigh of relief and nodded to the golden glasses man.

”We are partners, just a small favor.”

All nine managed to escape from the chains; this was just a prelude, but those sharp blades continued to close in.

Compared to the chains, Su Xiao felt these blades were more difficult to destroy. The faint gold glow on them made one wonder, were these blades all of light golden quality?

With a slicing sound, a stone door rose on the room’s wall, likely the exit.

The group of nine approached the doorway, which was pitch black inside, reminiscent of a mouth ready to devour those who enter.

”Time is short, everyone, it’s another choice.”

The golden glasses man, Walsh, nudged his glasses with his middle finger. Pibang stepped forward, pulling out a mini-computer. As he manipulated it, several miniature robots crawled out of his neckline, rushing into the doorway.

A moment later, Pibang pocketed his computer and walked straight into the doorway.

Seeing this, Walsh followed suit, the detective little girl close behind. The sullen man hesitated briefly before choosing to enter as well. Once inside, these people vanished into thin air.

The cat woman, now a cat, glanced at Bubu Wang before stepping into the doorway.

”Brother Bai Ye, long time no see.”

The National Foot Boss walked forward, the blades now dangerously close behind.

”Long time no see.”

Su Xiao released the alchemy raven; the others seemed to walk directly into the doorway, but in reality, they each employed their own means.

The alchemy raven rushed into the doorway. Su Xiao closed his eyes, using its vision to observe the situation inside.

It was all dark, no clear feedback, but no sense of danger either.

Su Xiao stepped towards the doorway, Bubu Wang following close behind. The National Team Brothers remained still; they were likely discussing a matter.

Upon entering the doorway, Su Xiao felt the space-time power envelop him. After a brief flash, he found himself in a small room, already seated on a chair.

This room was significantly better compared to the previous damp and gloomy environment. At the center was a metal round table surrounded by nine chairs, one of which Su Xiao found himself seated on. The chair was likely made of some metal, with armrests on each side, a soft cushion, and a backrest two meters high.

The walls surrounding the room featured many cubbyholes filled with various equipment: gold, light gold, dark purple, purple, blue, and green, at least a few hundred pieces. Most were stained with dried blood.

A light fragrance wafted through the air as the nine seats were occupied by nine gamers.

Bubu Wang crouched beside Su Xiao; it didn’t have a seat, which was a good thing, indicating it didn’t need to participate in the game.

”What kind of game is this, no restrictions set? Seems to have a lot of freedom.”

Pibang attempted to stand, found he could leave his seat, yet chose to sit back down.

”Gamers, welcome to the Demon Castle, where you shall become true strongmen.”

The voice boomed with vigor, drawing the gaze of several people towards its source—a wolf-headed man dressed in a black tailcoat with a bow tie.

Spotting the wolf-headed man, Su Xiao recalled the wolf steward mentioned in the world’s introduction.

”You are located on the Demon Castle’s first floor. The game here is about destiny; sometimes, luck is a part of strength. This is not just talk, folks; embrace your fate’s trial.”

The wolf steward approached the metal round table, pulling out a golden revolver from his chest pocket.

”It’s called the Fate Dominator, and for everyone, it only holds one bullet. Pick it up, pull the trigger; if you want to survive, choose your fate.”

The wolf steward inserted the golden revolver into the table’s slot. Throughout, he maintained impeccable precision, as if he had performed the actions countless times.

Once the task was complete, he stepped back.

”Russian Roulette? Wolf steward, this is ridiculous.”

The cat woman laughed in disbelief. The wolf steward stared straight ahead, ignoring her question.

”It’s not that. ’It only holds one bullet for everyone’; this statement is actually quite intriguing.”

Pibang studied the revolver in the table slot, lightly tapping his fingers on the table.

”Folks, we all came for the same purpose, the Proof of The Strong. It’s likely a test to determine if we possess the qualification to become strong. Who’s first?”

The golden glasses man eyed the crowd.

Click-click...

The metal round table began to rotate.

”Fate, begin.”

The wolf steward suddenly spoke. Su Xiao was only focused on the gun on the table. It emitted a sense of threat, and he had a feeling that pulling its trigger would result in a high chance of getting ’headshot.’ This gun was an exceptionally highly rated gold equipment.

Surveying the equipment in the cubbyholes on the wall, it was easy to guess their origin: they were items left behind by unsuccessful participants of the game, ’gifts’ to commemorate Alice.

With a clunk, the round table halted, leaving the golden revolver directly before Su Xiao.

”Pick it up, pull the trigger.”

Unnoticed, the wolf steward had appeared behind Su Xiao. He ignored the wolf steward, knowing the person was a neutral figure. As long as no rule-breaking actions were made, no harm would come. ℴ

Regarding violating rules, it was an unwise choice. Firstly, Alice was yet to appear, and she approached deity status within the Demon Castle. The wolf steward alone was a formidable challenge for Su Xiao, who never felt such intense and profound power before. The wolf steward’s aura resembled an abyss—step closer, and life would be forfeited.

After contemplating, Su Xiao picked up the golden revolver.

”Pull the trigger against the head?”

Su Xiao’s question this time received an answer.

”Correct.”

With the response, Su Xiao gleaned some information about the game; the wolf steward provided answers concerning the game content.

With his right hand holding the gun, his finger resting on the trigger, was simply pulling the trigger against the head an option? Certainly not; he prepared defensive measures.

A golden shield appeared around Su Xiao, who promptly pulled the trigger.

Bang!

A loud gunshot rang out, a bullet smashing into the secondary invincible shield, which deformed slightly, emphasizing the terrifying attack power of the gun. Ultimately, the bullet was repelled.

A hand blade struck, causing a cracking sound as the secondary invincible shield was pierced, bursting into tiny glowing fragments. It was the wolf steward who broke the shield bare-handed! While not genuinely invincible, piercing it bare-handed was overly dramatic.

The wolf steward merely shattered the secondary invincible shield, refraining from attacking Su Xiao. Due to his shield break, the bullet’s impact was dispersed.

”You’ve chosen... your fate to be self-determined, a commendable choice.”

The wolf steward seized the gun from Su Xiao’s hand, retrieving a rune card from a chest pocket to stick on Su Xiao.

[Tip: You’ve received Alice’s blessing; your luck attribute is permanently +1.]

Su Xiao’s eyes slightly narrowed; the enhancement was astonishing, luck attribute permanently +1 was an immense concept.

He grew interested in the Demon Castle game; though perilous, it equally offered opportunities.

While the Demon Castle game assessed his eligibility to become strong, it also granted strength potential, provided he survived.

”Wolf steward, are all the Demon Castle games this format?”

Upon hearing the question about the game, the wolf steward replied.

”The first three games follow fixed rules, explore the rest independently.”

Returning the golden revolver to the table’s slot, the round table rotated as the other eight involuntarily swallowed, having sensed some power in the gun.

With a clunk, the table halted, revolver landing before National Foot Elder Three, who shuddered.

”Wolf steward, um, can I swap guns? I have my own.”

National Foot Elder Three’s mind worked peculiarily as he immediately produced a white quality revolver. Not only were the other Contractors puzzled, but even the wolf steward paused—such a situation was unprecedented.
