Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Fang Zheng had long thought of ways to resolve the sister issue between Akame and Heitong. The reason is simple: Akame is, after all, the first person Fang Zheng chose to pass down the martial sword technique to in this world. Being the first, he definitely hoped for a good outcome.

Just like in those martial arts novels where people who practice peculiar skills either become a fallen star or end up neither human nor ghost, you know?

Regarding this issue between the sisters, Fang Zheng actually didn’t hear much from Akame, aside from her very serious expression as she said, ”Only one of us can live,” which led Fang Zheng to imagine quite a bit. Because neither of the sisters seemed interested in love, it shouldn’t be a fight to the death over a man like the Celestial Maiden and Li Qiushui, right? Could it be a personal issue within the family? Or was there some secret involved?

In the end, after listening to Heitong’s chatter, it all boiled down to one sentence.

Which was — My sister doesn’t want me anymore!

What a brat asking for trouble!!

After figuring out the situation, Fang Zheng immediately felt like he’d wasted his emotions!

He thought there was some deep-seated hatred, but damn, it turned out to be just a sibling quarrel!

The kind without any misunderstandings!

Of course, it’s not that Akame was without fault either, she’s an honest person. Fang Zheng guessed that even if Heitong refused back then, if Akame had insisted a bit, she might have followed along. After all, Heitong still valued her sister the most. But since Akame was so honest, as soon as Heitong said she wanted to stay, she just left.

As a result, Heitong was instead dumbfounded, kind of like playing cool but ending up looking foolish — I just said one thing, and my sister didn’t want me?

No problem, if my sister doesn’t want me, I still have companions!

But all her companions ended up dead.

This is another unlucky kid.

But ah.........

”It’s your own fault for your bad luck!”

The sleeve sword in Fang Zheng’s hand turned into a streak of lightning, stabbing towards Heitong, who brandished her Teigu to barely fend off Fang Zheng’s attacks.

”Ultimately, it’s your own stubbornness causing you trouble. When Akame left, you could have just followed her!”

”How could I do that!? I still had so many companions, and an Empire...!”

”Which is more important, your companions and the Empire, or your sister?”

Fang Zheng thrust another sword while casually posing the question, ”Who would you save first, your mom or boyfriend if they fell into the water?” to Heitong.

”......”

Heitong fell silent immediately, gripping her blade and biting her lip, glaring at Fang Zheng with the look of a child who knows they can’t win an argument but is filled with rage and ready to bite in tantrum, though Fang Zheng certainly wasn’t afraid.

”In short, it’s your own pride at fault. You know your sister’s personality very well. At that time, an apology could have fixed everything. But now things have escalated...”

Fang Zheng could somewhat guess that when Heitong retorted Akame, there might have been a rebellious phase involved as well, and after seeing that her sister really abandoned her, she just gave up on herself.

”Okay, so what if that’s the case!?”

At this moment, Heitong couldn’t hold back anymore, gripping her blade tightly and charging at Fang Zheng again.

”But what about after that!? My sister never came back to find me! Not even once! I only have those companions! I can only survive for the Empire! I killed so many people! Yet my sister never appeared before me, even though I killed so many rebels as well! Why is it always my fault!?”

Is this a ”sister love me one more time” situation?

Watching the crazed Heitong, Fang Zheng raised an eyebrow. Though faint, he could sense Heitong’s emotions right now were very unstable, and the instability wasn’t entirely her own......

Was it that thing?

Fang Zheng dodged another attack from Heitong, eyeing the Teigu in her hand. He had learned from others that Teigu were made from the organs of Danger Species and, to some extent, they were not truly dead items but living entities.

Of course, this was also a weakness, as Akame’s Thirteen Fatal Swords could bring true death to any Teigu — so the Murasame in her hand posed no threat now.

Since that’s the case, then.........

”Aaaaaah!!”

Heitong once again raised her blade against Fang Zheng, but this time Fang Zheng didn’t dodge like before. Instead, he blocked Heitong’s swinging blade with his sleeve sword, and then tightly clenched his right fist, hammering down hard with his sleeve sword against the sharp blade!

”Ding ding ding!!!”

The sharp sleeve sword glinted with cold light, stabbing forward, hitting Heitong’s blade, while Heitong could only grip the handle tightly, forced to bear Fang Zheng’s storm-like offensive, not noticing that each time Fang Zheng struck her Teigu with the sleeve sword, the slender blade, similar to Murasame, began vibrating at a peculiar frequency. Finally, Fang Zheng suddenly stopped, and both his hands’ sleeve swords bared their fangs like venomous snakes, striking forward!

”Clang!!”

With the intense impact, Heitong could no longer endure Fang Zheng’s assault, grunted, and fell backward to the ground. Simultaneously, her Teigu, ”Hachibo,” broke with a snap, turning into a broken sword.

”Ugh......!!”

Heitong fell heavily to the ground, shattered blade fragments spinning and scattering. She struggled to get up but hadn’t managed before clutching her mouth, coughing violently, then flipping her eyes, eventually fainting.

”Did you kill her?”

At this moment, Main finally walked over and looked at Fang Zheng, asking uneasily. As a member of the Night Raid, she knew a bit about the enmity between Akame and her own sister. In fact, Main had once thought about eliminating Heitong before Akame did, so Akame wouldn’t have to personally kill her own sister.

But now... the Emperor is dead, and most of the originators are dead as well, so the life or death of Heitong is not that important anymore.

”No, but her body was inherently weak. I suspect it’s some kind of drug reaction. We need to investigate this further when we get back... for now, let’s see how things are going on Akame’s side.”

As he spoke, Fang Zheng turned his head to look at the other side of the battlefield.

At this moment, Akame was engaged in combat with the red-haired girl. The opponent’s swordsmanship was clearly much stronger than Akame’s, to the point that all Akame could do was barely defend, without any chance to counterattack. Moreover, Akame was already covered in injuries, looking quite miserable.

”I want to go up and help!”

”No rush.”

Fang Zheng waved his hand, stopping Main and Hill, who intended to join the battle.

”This battle is also a trial for Akame, after all, such a strong opponent is rare.”

”An opponent?”

Hearing this, Main looked at Fang Zheng in confusion.

”Is this woman someone significant?”

”Yes, she was once a heroic figure.”

Fang Zheng said, looking at the red-haired girl fiercely battling Akame.

”Her name is Theresia van Astraea, she was the former Sword Saint of the Kingdom of Lugnica, who once led the Lugnica army to end the Subhuman War.”

”Wait, wasn’t that decades ago?”

Upon hearing this, Chelsea was taken aback.

”She still looks so young, like she’s not even twenty!”

”Yes, in fact, according to historical records, this Sword Saint was supposed to have died during a campaign against Danger Species... Hmm...”

As he spoke, Fang Zheng squinted with interest while staring at Theresia. He initially investigated her coincidentally. At first, Fang Zheng used to investigate the list of the Hunter Troop, and then noticed the Astraea surname. Finding it intriguing, he dug deeper, only to discover that this woman named Theresia was actually Reinhard’s grandmother. Moreover, she should have been long dead... No, rather, it’s more accurate to say she’s not truly alive.

To put it simply, Theresia was manipulated by the Witch Cult using some secret technique, existing in a peculiar undead form. Even though the Witch Cult was eradicated, the remnants fled to the Northern Empire, reviving themselves under the name of Anning Dao. Theresia, as a result, became a bargaining chip in their dealings with Minister Ernest, which led her to join the Hunter Troop.

Fang Zheng uncovered Anning Dao’s true identity here, and only then did he eliminate them conveniently.

As a former Sword Saint, Theresia’s strength was undeniable. Although she hadn’t fully regained her own will and was merely following orders, even so, she managed to overpower Akame to the extent that Akame couldn’t hold her head high.

For Akame, this also served as a good trial.

Now, it was up to her to seize the opportunity.

”Hah———!”

Once again blocking Theresia’s attack, Akame thrust her sword forward and then suddenly shifted. Simultaneously, Theresia seemed to sense Akame’s change in move, swiftly swinging her longsword forward, blocking Akame’s attack at a very subtle distance.

However, what followed was Akame’s trump card.

The Murasame in her hand began to tremble, and a deadly aura gradually emerged.

The Fifteenth...

But, to everyone’s surprise, just as Akame was about to unleash her Fifteenth Sword, Theresia seemed to sense something as she suddenly leaped back, and without looking back, she directly turned and left the arena, disappearing into the pitch-black passageway.

”............”

Seeing this scene, Akame was stunned.

”You’ve got to be kidding me!”

Main was dumbfounded, looking at the distant pitch-black passageway, finding Theresia’s actions unbelievably decisive—she ran without hesitation, showing none of the elegance of a Sword Saint and disappeared without a word...

”No wonder she’s the former Sword Saint.”

Compared to the astonishment of Akame, Main, and the others, Fang Zheng nodded his head. The name of the former Sword Saint wasn’t for nothing; even when facing a sword move for the first time, she could sense danger through intuition and choose to flee. Although Theresia’s method was slightly embarrassing, it was indeed effective.

After all, no matter how mighty the Thirteen Fatal Swords are, they’re sword techniques with an attack range. Within the attack range, they may mean instant death, but once outside of it, no matter how formidable the swords are, they become useless.

At this moment, Akame sheathed her sword, looking pale. She should be grateful that Theresia ran early; the Fifteenth Sword wasn’t released. Had Theresia pulled back at the moment Akame released the Fifteenth Sword, Akame might have ended up like Yan Shisan, needing to swing the sword at herself to commit suicide.

But for now... let’s just let it be.

Fang Zheng glanced around and then withdrew his gaze.

If Reinhard knew his grandmother was here, he would definitely come looking for her, and at that time, wouldn’t Esdeath have a chance?
