Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

It went extremely smoothly.

Looking at the girl in his arms sleeping as docilely as a lamb, Fang Zheng’s lips curved slightly, revealing a faint smile.

To be honest, Fang Zheng had considered using other methods to manipulate these people, but unfortunately he found that he just couldn’t do it.

These girls had come to the Ci Hang Brothel to eat vegetarian food and recite Buddhist Scripture since they were very young; the Buddhist Scripture had already sunk into the depths of their souls. It was like a piece of salt dissolved into water—if you want to extract the salt again, the only way is to evaporate the water completely.

There was nothing Fang Zheng could do about this, so he had no choice but to adopt his own Plan B.

In other words, infiltration and Transformation.

And in this, Fang Zheng was utterly ruthless. As a True God, he understood very well what real Believers were like.

They are not those ordinary people who come out to worship the Dragon King for rain in times of drought, or to pray to the Dragon King to drain the flood when there is a deluge, or those who hope to become top scorers in the imperial examinations, make the honor roll, and successfully marry and have children. Strictly speaking, these people are not Believers. The relationship between them and the Deity is, rather than Deity and Believer, more like merchant and consumer—they offer Incense Wish Power to the Deity, hoping the Deity will give something back and fulfill their wishes, or point out a way forward. You could say that the two sides are in a kind of equal consumer relationship.

If the Deity cannot give back or fulfill their wishes, then these ”consumers” will leave, turn to other merchants (Deities), or simply stop coming altogether.

This is certainly not what a Believer is.

True Believers are actually like the girl in front of him, beings who give their everything, body and soul, to their Deity.

Of course, from a normal person’s perspective, religious Believers are in many ways no different from ordinary people. They also like charity, are happy to help others, and even, like this girl, can be naive and lively, looking utterly harmless. But they overlook one thing, and that is—within a Believer’s world, there is no right or wrong, only good and evil.

When you stand together with him and his faith, then you are righteous.

But conversely, if you are at odds with his faith, then you are evil.

This is far more troublesome than distinguishing between right and wrong.

The reason is simple: right and wrong are based on facts. Suppose there is a King whose country is prosperous and strong under his rule, with people living in peace and contentment—this is a fact. On this level, what the King has done is certainly ”right.” If you use right and wrong as the standard, you can’t stare at those people happily living on the streets and insist that they are actually suffering, that they’re actually oppressed... That’s simply untenable, and impossible to argue for.

But evil is a different matter altogether.

The same deed, if it does not conform to their faith, will not be acknowledged by the Believer. No matter how well that King does, they will only think that this King is putting on such a disguise for some evil purpose, and that those people are merely deceived. They believe these people have ignored Justice and Truth, and are hopelessly addicted to the temptations of evil; they themselves must sacrifice everything to ensure these people escape the sea of suffering and return to the arms of the Deity.

This is the difference between right and wrong, and good and evil.

And once they have decided that the other side is evil, then whatever they do will carry no psychological burden.

They can kill a criminal, because he is an accomplice of evil.

They can also kill an ordinary person, because he is a victim of evil. Killing him is not to kill him, but to save him.

They can likewise destroy a family, even a village, even a country, because these are fighting for evil; erasing these accomplices of evil is, in their view, an act of great righteousness.

Fan Qinghui is the same. You can call her cheap, a whore, a green tea bitch, but it’s meaningless. She will not change her faith, nor her conviction, because she believes all this to be righteous, beyond question. So for a lofty and righteous goal, for the sake of all the people under heaven, even if she willingly degenerates, she won’t feel any psychological burden. She doesn’t think selling her looks is wrong, nor does she see seducing men as some licentious, debased act, because in Fan Qinghui’s eyes, all this is a sacrifice made for the great Buddhist Dharma and all under heaven, a sacred and righteous act.

This is one of the reasons why Fang Zheng feels the Ci Hang Brothel is worse than the Red Mansion—because at least the women of the Red Mansion still have a sense of shame, whereas the women of the Ci Hang Brothel have no such thoughts at all.

Oh, and by the way, the female disciples of the Ci Hang Brothel are almost all above the standard in looks. Hmm... that alone says a lot.

You have to understand, among the millions of Cursed Children in Fang Zheng’s Heavenly Dao Palace, their looks range from high to low, but in your Ci Hang Brothel they’re all uniformly above standard... Are you training in martial arts, or hosting a beauty pageant?

Or is there some ulterior motive?

Any attempt to persuade a Believer to abandon the Deity he worships is a complete waste of effort.

Incidentally, Fang Zheng’s God of Magical Girls is not a profession-type Deity, but a race-type Deity, so he does not need to rely on certain unique rules to ensure his own characteristics like other Deities do.

If it were the Goddess of Order, and if she ever wrote ”Believers must be gay” into her declaration, then... EMMMM.

Wouldn’t be surprising if she actually did it, to be honest.

No, actually, if it didn’t violate her ”only taboo romance hidden among normal people is truly exciting” ”aesthetic,” she would’ve done it long ago! I mean, she already created a world before where men could fall in love, marry, and have kids!

啧啧啧, thinking about it like that, the Archbishop and the others really did dodge a bullet.

By the way, the Buddhist Scriptures in this world really do have effects similar to driving out evil and Demon Exorcism, but they’ve also sunk deep into these girls’ souls and fused completely with them. Fang Zheng once tried to make this girl abandon her faith, and it almost caused her Spirit to collapse.

Because her faith in Buddha has already parasitized her soul like a parasite; forcibly ripping it out would be no different from performing an organ removal surgery on a healthy person.

And the ”hack it out with a cleaver” type.

If she turned into a demented fool, that would be bad, so Fang Zheng had no choice but to go with Plan B.

Which was to twist her faith.

These Believers still worship Buddha; that point doesn’t undergo Transformation. Fang Zheng merely makes them regard Buddha as himself, that’s all.

If it were just ordinary Mental Manipulation, then these Believers wouldn’t be totally defenseless. But the problem is, Fang Zheng is using the power he obtained back in the Cthulhu World, power from an Ancient God.

An Ancient God is not a Demon Monster, but a Deity.

So these Believers of Buddha, when faced with the pull of an Ancient God, not only don’t develop resistance, they instead—thanks to their practice of the Buddhist Scriptures, which has made their senses more acute—perceive ever more clearly the presence and allure of the Ancient God.

Just like how those gifted people in the Cthulhu World will always be pulled into Cthulhu’s dreams.

And among them, the ones with the sharpest senses will come into contact with the Ancient God Whispers, and then gradually undergo Transformation, distortion, becoming Believers of the Ancient God.

What Fang Zheng used on the girl earlier were the abilities of ”Appearance of the Ancient God” and ”Ancient God Whispers” he had obtained in the Cthulhu World. The Appearance of the Ancient God has a Thousand Forms, letting people see the figure they most want to see, and Fang Zheng just needs to stand there for the girl before him to regard him as the Buddha she worships, and then voluntarily submit to him.

Ancient God Whispers, on the other hand, can, through soft chanting by her ear, twist the girl’s Spirit and will. What she studies does not change; on the surface she still appears just as devout as ever, obeying her faith. Even the people closest to her will not notice any Transformation.

And no one will know that the Buddha she worships and the one they imagine are already entirely different beings.

However......

”Why do I feel like I’m evolving more and more into an Evil God?”

Thinking of this, Fang Zheng couldn’t help shaking his head. It’s not that he’s questioning his methods, but rather his own traits.

Other people have a smoke afterwards and feel happy like Immortals. But for Fang Zheng, he gets a post-coital inspiration rush. How to put it... that pleasure from becoming one seems to flip some switch inside him, so that his brain becomes much more full of Spiritual Light when he thinks.

Just like those grandmasters who gaze at landscapes and comprehend the Truth of the world...... every time he has one of these intimate contacts, Fang Zheng feels like he’s gotten a temporary ”Inspiration +10” buff, letting him, for that period, think sharply and clearly about the principles of Chaos and order, and fuse and refine them into his own designs......

Well, how to say this, it’s the fault of that ”romance Game World protagonist Destiny” of his.

If back then Fang Zheng hadn’t gone to a romance Game World, but instead to something like the Hunter’s World or Call of Duty, then he’d probably be pondering life and tasting philosophy after slaying Creatures or fighting wars on the battlefield.

But...... how to put it? This isn’t bad either.

Thinking this, Fang Zheng gently stroked the hair of the girl at his side, then stood up.

The experiment was a success. Next...... it was time to begin full-scale infiltration.

When the girl appeared before everyone again, she seemed completely back to normal. She apologized very earnestly to her teacher, saying she was truly sorry, and solemnly declared that she had thoroughly repented and would never again show such rude behavior. Not only that, during the evening sutra chanting afterward, the girl really did throw herself wholly into it, which made her master very satisfied. As for that earlier little lapse, in her master’s eyes, it wasn’t worth making a fuss over.

Not only that, the girl’s insight into the Buddhist Scriptures seemed to grow more profound; she even showed a certain spiritual comprehension. On top of that, she exuded a strange, unimaginable charm, like a magnet—wherever she went, she drew everyone’s gaze.

In her master’s view, perhaps this was the girl’s latent talent finally blooming?

Maybe...... she would be an even better choice than Fan Qinghui?

But unexpectedly, after this, things gradually began to change......
