Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

The wild wind roared past their ears, and the white clouds scattered away.

”———————!”

With a sharp eagle’s cry, a magnificent, enormous city appeared before them.

At the same time, a deep voice arose.

When others blindly pursue truth, remember———everything is permitted.

When others are bound by morals or laws, remember———anything is possible.

We walk in the darkness to serve the light.

We are... Assassins.

”Dong!”

Fang Zheng landed slowly on the rooftop of one of the houses, gazing at the imperial city beneath the night sky.

Under the moonlight, the city appeared so dark, prosperous, yet filled with a rancid smell.

Oh Northern Empire... although we have no personal feud, for the sake of helping Felt, hmm... it would be better if you met your end sooner.

Thinking of this, Fang Zheng raised his head. Before his eyes, the world immediately transformed into a blurred space of black and white, where the undead and resentment, death and fear, everything emerged. Soon, Fang Zheng locked his gaze in one direction, then bent down, swiftly dashing towards it.

In the moonlit night, his white robe flashed like the embodiment of a ghost, quickly arriving in front of a hidden warehouse located in the nobility district. The warehouse doors were shut tight; from inside, faint screams and angry roars could be heard, accompanied by the sounds of cruel laughter.

Two soldiers stood on guard outside the warehouse, appearing somewhat bored, seemingly unaware of death’s shadow looming over them.

In the next moment, Fang Zheng leaped down.

He spread his hands, pressing down on the necks of the two soldiers, and at the same time, an icy blade suddenly appeared, piercing through their throats.

Under the sleeve sword, all are equal.

The two guards died the instant they hit the ground. Fang Zheng turned around, gently pushed open the door, and slipped inside. Soon, he witnessed the scene inside the room.

In the dim, cold warehouse lit only by candlelight, a man dressed in noble attire stood with his hands held behind his back, seemingly admiring a dramatic scene in front of him. Strictly speaking, indeed, a drama played out before his eyes.

A play titled Les Misérables.

”Scream, scream for me!!!”

A luxuriously dressed girl with golden hair swung a long whip with force, lashing at a girl with pitch-black hair suspended in front of her, while the girl bit her lip in silence. On the other side, a young man was bound, watched over by a noblewoman holding a notebook, regarding him with a sinister smile as if engaged in some activity.

Fang Zheng could clearly see the resentment entwining these people. While they appeared to be ordinary nobility on the surface, the blackish-purple resentment surging from them showed they were bloodstained executioners.

Fang Zheng walked slowly towards the noble man, reaching out to cover the man’s mouth. His left hand’s sleeve sword then plunged straight into the man’s back. The man’s entire body stiffened for a moment before slowly collapsing backward. Fang Zheng caught his body, gently laying it on the ground before moving forward again.

The woman and girl pair seemed unaware of Fang Zheng’s presence, with the golden-haired girl still engrossed in performing her task. The young man bound up seemed to sense Fang Zheng’s presence, eyes wide with a look of surprise crossing his face.

”Huh? What’s wrong? Why that expression?”

Seeing the young man’s expression, the girl frowned, instinctively turning her head to look back.

At the same time, Fang Zheng’s sleeve sword had already slid across her neck, a silent flash.

The blond girl’s eyes widened in surprise, her mouth opening but soon filling with blood, with her hands grasping the air a few times before falling powerlessly to the ground.

Fang Zheng glanced at the young man tied up, then proceeded, stopping behind the golden-haired girl torturing the black-haired girl. Perhaps finding the whipping ineffective, the girl had discarded the whip and eagerly grabbed a hot iron from the nearby stove.

”I wonder how long you can endure, maybe I should burn off your damn hair...”

Fang Zheng reached out, covering the girl’s mouth, then thrust his left hand’s sleeve sword forward again.

”Ssshhhh———”

The girl’s azure eyes widened sharply, then in the next moment, they lost all focus, turning into lifeless, inorganic objects. Fang Zheng gently laid her body down on the ground before raising his head to look at the hanging black-haired girl. He abruptly flicked his hand, releasing a knife that swiftly flew through the air, cutting the rope binding her, and she dropped to the ground with a faint groan. She raised her head just as the white cloak floated down, settling upon her.

”Sayu!!”

Meanwhile, the young man, now unrestrained, hurriedly rushed over to support the girl.

”Are you okay?”

”I... I’m still okay, how about you, Iyeas?”

”Nothing serious, that woman tried to make me drink something disgusting, but luckily I didn’t.”

Hearing her companion’s answer, the girl named Sayu also showed a smile, then looked up to see the figure in a white robe she had seen earlier preparing to leave.

”Wait, that!”

Seeing the figure, Sayu hastily screamed loudly.

”Thank you very much for rescuing us!”

Upon hearing Sayu’s words, Fang Zheng nodded to them.

”Follow me, or leave here, the choice is yours.”

After saying this, Fang Zheng turned and walked out of the warehouse, while Iyeas and Sayu exchanged glances, then both stood up and followed the white-robed figure out of this space filled with blood and death.

The strange death of a noble naturally caused a stir in the Imperial City, and the next day, many soldiers began to stay vigilant, searching everywhere for the killer, of course, finding them would be like seeing a ghost.

”I understand your situation now.”

Fang Zheng retracted his gaze from the soldiers on the street outside the window, turned his head, and looked at the two youngsters behind him. After that, he took the two young people to a hidden, deserted place, where he learned of their backgrounds.

They were born in an impoverished village on the border of the Empire, with hopes of making a name for themselves in the Imperial City to save their village from hunger and poverty. But naturally, coming from the village, they were unfamiliar with the city’s situations, thus realizing they were at a dead-end with no way out upon arrival.

Just as the two were unsure of what to do, a noble girl named Elia took them in. Originally they thought this young lady was kind-hearted, but what they did not expect was that Elia’s family was in fact a group of demons, who used this method to deceive outsiders, lure them into their home, and then humiliate and kill them for fun.

Sayu and Iyeas also became their prey, but fortunately, they were rescued by Fang Zheng in time.

”So what do you plan to do next? Do you want to leave here and return to your village?”

Fang Zheng stared at the two.

”This country is already utterly corrupt, beyond rescue, it’s pointless for you to try making a name here. Everything here is an amalgamation of filth and ugliness, if you want my personal advice, you should return to your village, even if life might be a bit harder, at least it would be peaceful and harmonious.”

While speaking, Fang Zheng tossed a bag of coins over, which he had picked up after killing those nobles yesterday.

”Thank you for your suggestion, but... no, we cannot just go back like this...”

Iyeas shook his head.

”Then what do you plan to do next?”

”We......”

Facing Fang Zheng’s inquiry, Sayu and Iyeas were also speechless, not knowing what to say. After a moment, Sayu looked at Fang Zheng.

”Then are you here, Master...?”

”To eliminate those greedy nobles and officials, you have seen it.”

Fang Zheng waved his hand; the task he had to do this time was simple. Since the Northern Empire is a threat to Lugnica, Fang Zheng’s goal is to prevent the Northern Empire from threatening Lugnica.

And how to achieve that?

Naturally, it’s simple; kill all corrupt and evil nobles and officials, from the bottom all the way to the Emperor, ensuring that this country would be in turmoil and utterly ruined. By that time, even if the Northern Empire intends anything against Lugnica, it won’t act impulsively.

With Fang Zheng’s experience, such a large country returning to the right path isn’t easy; it might take a couple of years or even more than a decade to stabilize. Especially, they must also pray neighboring nations won’t take a bite of this juicy piece.

”Since you don’t want to leave, would you like to join my ranks?”

At this point, Fang Zheng finally got to the point.

Each Soulstone possesses unique abilities, and the one he possesses is no exception. Through ”Ratziel”, Fang Zheng learned that there is a special weapon called ”Teigu” within the Northern Empire, simply put, it is also a very powerful piece of Magic Equipment, only suitable individuals can use it. However, each Teigu holder possesses significant power, Esdeath being one of them.

For this reason, there are no substantial rebellions within the Northern Empire, because most of the powerful Teigu and Teigu holders are on the Empire’s side.

But Fang Zheng is different; he doesn’t need a Teigu. In fact, the Soulstone he is using now allows him to share the ”Assassin” profession’s characteristics with others, granting them the same abilities. Simply put, Fang Zheng’s Soulstone skills are somewhat akin to a game mentor, where players can learn new skills from the mentor after changing professions.

With these skills, even ordinary people like Sayu and Iyeas can take on Teigu holders.

So Fang Zheng’s objective in this Empire is straightforward.

Oh, young ones, have you heard of the Brotherhood?
