Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

The incident of the Minister of Internal Affairs being abducted from the execution ground quickly shocked the entire Imperial City; listeners were all dumbfounded, not to mention the Judgment who announced the Emperor’s edict was killed on the spot, which was a naked contempt for the Emperor!!

For a while, the entire Imperial City mobilized, whether it was the Royal Army or the Guard Force, patrolling tirelessly twenty-four hours a day. The whole Imperial City became completely sealed off, with any travelers subjected to the strictest examinations, and a curfew order was also implemented in the Imperial City.

At first, high-ranking officials believed under such strict orders, those daring to offend the Imperial power should not appear anymore, but the reality was completely contrary to their imagination. As the security level of the Imperial City escalated, the frequency of these ”Grim Reapers” deploying actually increased!

A patrol guard unit did not return on time during a midnight patrol, and by the time they were found, they had already become corpses in an alley.

The Captain responsible for the patrol area had someone prepare breakfast, and when the subordinate returned with breakfast, they found the Guard Force Captain and his two subordinates dead in the office.

The lieutenant of the Royal Army was found dead in the toilet.

The clerk responsible for inspecting the market was discovered hanging from a railing on the street.

Though infuriated Imperial City soldiers exhibited the momentum of wrongly killing a hundred rather than letting one go, capturing and even detaining ordinary people in an attempt to threaten those elusive phantoms. However, those who tried generally didn’t survive more than two days before their bodies were found lying in the street.

Under such circumstances, the Empire’s Nobility was extremely angry and even closed the entire city, ordering all armies to be deployed for search and surveillance on every street! This made the Imperial City even more tense than during wartime.

But what was unexpected was that the night after they distributed all the armies to search in the outer city, the opponent struck in the Nobility’s district within the inner city, killing a high-ranking civil official.

This terrified the Nobility; they hurriedly ordered all armies to return to the Nobility’s area within the inner city to protect themselves. For ordinary people outside the city, these Nobility clearly did not care.

But when it concerns their own life and death, it’s a different matter.

Thus, most of the army has now returned to the inner city, and the patrol level of the outer city has reverted to its original state.

No, it should be said, even lower than before.

Reality is not a game, there are no infinitely refreshing soldiers, and everyone only has one life. Initially, the Guard Force and Royal Army were indeed angry, especially when the opponent disregarded them as if they were nobody, breaking in and killing whoever they wanted. Moreover, what was most frustrating is that they don’t even know who their opponent truly is!

If it were Night Raid, at least they could carry a few portraits to find people, but now, they don’t know whether the murderers are male or female, human or ghost. They want to catch someone but don’t even know whom to catch, this feeling of hitting the air with a punch is genuinely quite uncomfortable.

However, after the anger reached its peak — it turned into fear.

Yes, more and more people are suspecting that those Grim Reapers might really be Grim Reapers, hidden in the darkness, mercilessly harvesting other people’s lives. As for why those killed died, even if the ordinary public doesn’t know, someone should know the reason. Also, precisely because of this, the morale of these soldiers became increasingly low, especially after the Nobility withdrew most forces back into the inner city to preserve their own life, leaving only the most basic armed forces in the outer city. After this, the morale of these soldiers virtually disappeared.

Under such circumstances, patrolling soldiers grew increasingly lazy, with many simply going through the motions on routine patrols. Even their superiors had no solutions because if they try to detain all these soldiers for negligence in duty, it would immediately trigger a mutiny.

And if they do that, perhaps they will be the next ones to die.

After all, previously those fools who vented their anger on their subordinates for not catching the Grim Reapers basically didn’t live to see the sun rise the next day.

This is why most people believe they are truly Grim Reapers; otherwise, it would be inexplicable why they know so much about the things around them. You need to know that many people died even under heavy guard, but those soldiers either found nothing or fell dead together.

And from their condition, they didn’t even have time to send out the slightest amount of information.

But not everyone gave up.

”Captain......”

Standing in the room, looking at the empty desk, the brown-haired girl gritted her teeth, turned, and walked towards the door. As she opened it, she saw a short-haired boy blocking her path.

”Miss Seiru, where are you going?”

”I’m going on a patrol.”

Facing the boy’s inquiry, the girl named Seiru responded.

”Those villains will certainly act again. Without Guard Force patrols, they will act more recklessly. I can take this opportunity to hide and definitely catch them!”

After saying this, Seiru picked up the white puppy beside her and headed outside. However, the boy hesitated for a moment, then hurriedly chased after her.

”Miss Seiru, I’ll go with you!”

”Tazmi?”

Looking at the boy in front of her, Seiru froze for a moment, while Tazmi stared back at her.

”I remember when I first came to this city, I was swindled out of all my money; it was you, Miss Seiru, who helped me and recommended me to join the Guard Force, and Captain Oka was very good to me. I... I won’t forget what happened that day either! I also want to avenge Captain Oka, kill those who disrupt the Imperial City!”

Speaking here, Tazmi clenched his fists tightly. He witnessed the once bustling Imperial City becoming desolate and cold, filled with anger. He doesn’t know who exactly is disrupting the Imperial City, but it is exactly because of these people that the city became like this, and even Captain Oka died at their hands!

He absolutely won’t let those guys get away with it!

”There might be danger, you know?”

Staring at Tazmi, Seiru said in a low voice, while Tazmi gave a slight smile.

”I won’t die so easily.”

”Alright, follow me then, Tazmi.”

Hearing Tazmi’s answer, Seiru also smiled.

”Let us use absolute justice to destroy those evil scoundrels!!!”

The night has fallen.

It was already late at night, and on the cold Imperial City streets, two figures were sprinting forward along the road.

”Ah, it’s all because of those Grim Reapers that our mission execution has become so difficult now.”

Main complained softly while running. The girl with purple hair and wearing glasses, running beside her in a qipao, smiled slightly at her complaint.

”But success in the mission is more important than anything.”

The purple-haired girl was also a member of Night Raid, named Hill, and like Main, she was also a Teigu wielder. This assassination mission was a team effort by her and Main.

”Yes, now even those Guard Force guys don’t dare to show up... this way... hmm?”

However, before Main could finish her words, she seemed to sense something and quickly looked up behind her. At the same time, a figure suddenly shot out of the woods, charging towards them!

”Enemy attack!”

Main swiftly flipped backward to dodge, while the purple-haired girl grabbed her scissors and dodged to the other side. Almost at the same time they dodged, the figure struck the ground like a cannonball.

”What’s with this guy?”

Looking at the figure slowly standing up before them, Main’s expression was solemn.

”I can’t feel her presence at all.”

Hill slowly raised the scissors in her hand and looked ahead. As the smoke cleared, they saw a brown-haired girl and a small dog standing in the middle of the street.

”Seems like she’s on a completely different level than those Guard Force members who expose their full presence.”

”.........”

The brown-haired girl didn’t care about their conversation. She silently picked up the wanted notice in her hand and glanced at it.

”Indeed, matches the appearance on the wanted list, identified as Hill of Night Raid. From the Teigu held, the woman accompanying her also belongs to Night Raid......”

At this point, the girl grinned, revealing a ferocious smile.

”Finally, we meet, Night Raid!!! In the name of absolute justice, here to judge evil! Embrace death, you wicked thieves!!!”

”Boom——————!”

Sounds of explosions echoed.

”Hmm?”

Standing atop the tower, Fang Zheng turned his head to look in the direction of the explosion.

Over there... there shouldn’t be any assassination plans today, right?

Thinking this, Fang Zheng narrowed his eyes, and the next moment, the scene before him zoomed in like a telescope. Immediately, he saw the battle erupting on the deserted square.

”That’s... three people and a... dog?”

Fang Zheng could clearly see a pink-haired twin-tailed girl holding a large, gun-like object, fighting a dog that looked like an inflated toy. She shot countless bullets at the dog, piercing its body and even firing beams, but the large white dog quickly reverted and continued attacking.

On the other side, a purple-haired girl in a qipao wielded scissors about as tall as herself, engaging in combat with a girl clad in Guard Force armor.

”That must be... Night Raid’s members.”

Fang Zheng also took out a wanted notice from his pocket and glanced at it. By the way, the style of this country is such a hodgepodge that even Fang Zheng was left speechless. Unlike pure fantasy or Western fantasy or even traditional styles, this country’s style was a massive blend. In this country, he could see people in kimonos, suits, qipao, and armor, as well as those in sailor uniforms and Gothic Lolita... what kind of bizarre cultural fusion is this?

What kind of madness is it to cram everything from past and present, East and West, altogether?

Well, these are minor issues, no need to mind.

”Iyeas.”

Fang Zheng looked down and turned toward the person beside him.

”Here, Mentor.”

”It seems Night Raid and the Imperial City Guard are fighting, let’s go check the situation and tidy up the aftermath.”

”Understood.”

After saying this, Fang Zheng stood up, walked to the edge of the tower, and spread his arms. At that moment, a pitch-black falcon descended from the sky, circling the entire tower once.

”———————!!”

With an eagle’s cry, Fang Zheng leaped from the tower, disappearing into the darkness.
