Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

For Main, this was an unimaginable experience.

Main has always looked down on assassins, thinking they are just rats hiding in the darkness, always sneaky and not at all righteous. In fact, Night Raid doesn’t seem like assassins either; they strictly fall somewhere between assassins and killers. Of course, Night Raid wouldn’t simply fade into anonymity like Fang Zheng.

But what she witnessed today gave Main a completely new understanding of the assassin profession.

Walking in darkness, serving the light.

To be honest, Main couldn’t quite believe that such words would come from assassins, but she had to admit that these words were truly... impactful.

However, the next scene left Main utterly shocked.

Fang Zheng and his group arrived at a high tower, and then Main saw the girl dressed in the assassin’s white robe spread her arms and jump directly off the tower!

She jumped off!!

”Wait, wait a minute!!”

Seeing Fang Zheng and the others nod in satisfaction and turn to leave, Main screamed in fear.

”What are you doing? Why did she just jump off?”

”It’s part of our ritual.”

”Part? Jumping from this height would... kill someone!”

Main swallowed nervously, wanting to peek over the edge of the tower, but she was too scared. Contrary to appearances, this girl had a mild fear of heights; just standing on this tower made Main’s legs feel weak. There was no way she’d dare to go to the edge and look down.

”For an ordinary person, it would, but assassins won’t die.”

Fang Zheng seemed very calm.

There’s still a distinction between games and reality. In fact, even in games, a player’s leap of faith could only land on haystacks; jumping elsewhere would result in ”desynchronization.” But that’s not how it works in reality. In reality, Fang Zheng’s ”leap of faith” seems closer to its original meaning.

Simply put, as long as you have faith in your heart, it doesn’t matter how high you jump from!

Of course, in an ordinary real world, this would certainly break the rules. But this world is different; there’s magic, Teigu, goblins, and Divine Arts, not to mention Lina Inverse who loves blasting things, so a leap of faith is hardly more impressive than a Dragon Break Slash, right?

According to Fang Zheng’s experimental results, currently even jumping from hundreds of meters high could result in a smooth landing using a leap of faith.

Just not sure if it would allow a body to break through the atmosphere.

Well... probably not, as having a bunch of assassins with oxygen tanks jumping from external orbits would be too absurd.

And there’s no need.

”Alright, next it’s your turn.”

”What?”

Upon hearing this, Main jumped up in fright.

”We have to jump too?!”

”Of course not, unless you officially join the Brotherhood.”

Fang Zheng looked at Main, slightly amused.

”Since you’re thinking about joining, I should first assess your skills; come with me.”

”Phew...”

Hearing this, Main finally breathed a sigh of relief. Watching the female assassin jump off had left her legs weak, and now she dared not even inch toward the wall for fear that she might accidentally fall off—breaking her neck would truly be a laughing stock!

Afterward, Fang Zheng led the two to the Brotherhood’s secret training ground, and Main finally recovered, starting to boast about her and Akame’s Teigu to Fang Zheng.

From Main, Fang Zheng learned that her Teigu was named Romantic Turret: Pumpkin, which uses spiritual power as bullets and can transform into various firearm forms. Hmm... Fang Zheng had to admit, upon hearing the introduction of this Teigu, he immediately thought it was tailor-made for Akemi Homura.

Were it not that Main was currently considered a half-ally, he would have taken it without a second thought.

But considering Akemi Homura already had the Bow Hero’s bow, this thing wouldn’t have much use.

And according to Main, this Romantic Turret had another interesting feature: when the holder is in danger, the power of the Romantic Turret would increase, with the power boost proportional to the level of danger the holder is in. In short, the deeper in danger, the more powerful it becomes.

Of course, as far as Fang Zheng was concerned, this trait was simply unreliable. Any sensible person could see this Teigu was best suited for long-range sniping, and if a sniper found themselves in danger, chances are they couldn’t escape, and what use is the increased power then?

However...

”Can it transform into any gun?”

”Of course.”

Facing Fang Zheng’s inquiry, Main nodded confidently, while Fang Zheng thought for a moment before reaching out.

”Let me take a look.”

”You can take a look, it’s fine...”

Seeing Fang Zheng’s extended hand, Main didn’t hesitate and soon handed over the Romantic Turret she carried.

”But I must tell you, every Teigu can only be used by certain people, even if I give it to you...”

However, Main’s words were cut short because, right at that moment, she saw Fang Zheng take the Romantic Turret. The next instant, she heard a ”crash” sound, and the Romantic Turret immediately began to transform, quickly turning into a Long Spear that Main didn’t recognize at all!

”Hmm... this is kind of interesting...”

Fang Zheng experimented with several more forms and had to admit, this Teigu was pretty intriguing. As long as it was a gun-type weapon, it could simulate anything from pistols to micros, sniper heavy machines, and RPGs, and it could be filled directly using Psychic Power without the need to create bullets... Hmm, maybe he could analyze this Teigu’s material and give it to the little girls to use?

After all, having such a shapeshifting weapon would obviously be a good thing for Heavenly Dao Palace.

”Wait, wait, why can you manipulate Pumpkin?!”

This time, Main finally snapped back, quickly jumping up and shouting.

”What’s going on? This is my Teigu!”

Teigu are supposed to recognize their owner, and theoretically, a Teigu would only allow the person it’s recognized to use it. If it’s someone the Teigu doesn’t acknowledge, they shouldn’t be able to use it. Normally, a Teigu would only have one owner. But now... watching the Romantic Turret shapeshift in Fang Zheng’s hands, even more fluently than in her own, Main suddenly had the feeling that her own spouse was being taken away by Old Wang next door and was even more accommodating than in her presence...

”Okay, okay, why are you yelling? I’m not stealing it from you...”

Facing the exasperated Main, Fang Zheng rolled his eyes helplessly and handed the Romantic Turret back to her. Main hurriedly took back her Teigu and carefully inspected it, trying to see if Fang Zheng had done anything to it... but in the end, she found nothing.

”So, Miss Akame...”

”Don’t even think about Akame’s weapon.”

This time, before Fang Zheng could finish, Main jumped up and glared at him fiercely.

No wonder, after all, anyone would be annoyed seeing their spouse being more alluring next to Old Wang next door.

”Akame’s weapon is a one-hit-kill Demon Blade Murakumo. If you’re struck by it, you’ll definitely die! It’s our Night Raid’s trump card!”

”Oh...”

To Main’s surprise, after listening to her introduction, Fang Zheng seemed uninterested, as if the Demon Blade Murakumo was less interesting to him than his Romantic Turret. But soon, Fang Zheng nodded, then walked to the center of the training ground and gestured to Akame.

”Well, let’s have a duel, let me see your skills.”

”Wait, are you sure?”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s words, Main was shocked.

”I’m not trying to scare you; if this sword cuts someone, they’re dead!”

”The prerequisite is that it can cut someone, right?”

Fang Zheng shook his head, then looked at Akame again. Although Akame was a little confused, she still followed Fang Zheng’s gesture to the center of the training ground and drew the Demon Blade Murakumo.

”Wait, Akame, you... oh no...”

Seeing this, Main felt a bit nervous; Akame is kind of dazed, and this man in front of them is the leader of the assassins! If Akame accidentally kills him, it won’t be easy to explain!

However, noticing Main’s gaze, Akame merely turned and glanced at her.

”This man is very strong.”

”Because he’s strong, you want to challenge him? You’re not Leone!!”

Hearing this response, Main immediately retorted, and to make matters worse, when she saw Fang Zheng not taking any weapons but instead extending both hands toward Akame, Main had an even bigger headache.

”Wait! Are you going to face Akame like that? With bare hands? Without any weapons?!”

”Of course, I have a weapon.”

Hearing Main’s question, Fang Zheng chuckled, then there was a slight ”click” sound, and the next moment, both of them saw a pair of dagger-like blades suddenly pop out from beneath Fang Zheng’s palms.

”These are Sleeve Swords, the assassins’ weapons. Be careful.”

”.......”

Upon hearing Fang Zheng’s words, Akame nodded, then raised the Murakumo in her hand, her expression becoming serious.

Akame isn’t dumb; she’s not a natural airhead like Hill and knows she shouldn’t draw her sword against others lightly. But Fang Zheng’s imposing aura was so overwhelming that, as a Swordsman, Akame could clearly feel the terrifying oppressive vibe emanating from Fang Zheng. She needed the confidence of holding the Murakumo, else she might have lost the battle before it even started!

”........”

Akame took a deep breath, calmly staring at Fang Zheng. She hadn’t seen such a move before, but Akame believed that a single sword swoop would be lethal. After all, Murakumo was that kind of weapon. Thinking this, Akame gripped the sword hilt firmly, and her figure flashed. In the next instant, Akame appeared in front of Fang Zheng, thrusting the sword toward his chest!

As the blade of Murakumo thrust forward, Akame saw Fang Zheng’s right hand suddenly swing toward her sword blade. Then she saw a Sleeve Sword suddenly extend from Fang Zheng’s sleeve, slashing against Murakumo’s blade. Fang Zheng smoothly slid to the side, and the Murakumo, which was originally thrust forward, naturally tilted off course.

Then, in the next moment, Fang Zheng took a step forward, and an icy touch immediately pressed against Akame’s throat.

”End of the line.”

Fang Zheng extended both hands forward, gesturing to virtual clench Akame’s neck, and his two Sleeve Swords were already extended, crossing at Akame’s throat. If Fang Zheng hadn’t shown mercy, the Sleeve Swords would have already pierced through Akame’s neck, turning her into a dead person.

Fang Zheng withdrew the Sleeve Swords and looked at Akame again.

”As I thought, you’re quite weak.”

Then, Fang Zheng spoke.
