Chapter 1399: Chapter 1398: There Is Only One Truth

At the same time, Fang Zheng and Teacher Shishido Yui also returned to Class 1-A with Suzumoto Mayu whom they rescued. There, Fang Zheng saw the other two students Teacher Shishido Yui mentioned, Ryoki Kashizawa and Shizaki Ayumi.

Ryoki Kashizawa looked like a delinquent, while Shizaki Ayumi was a petite girl with twin ponytails. Seeing Suzumoto Mayu, the two were quite happy. After hearing about her ordeal, everyone was very surprised and astonished.

”I really didn’t expect those ghosts to be so terrifying...”

”Neither did I...”

At this moment, Suzumoto Mayu appeared quite downcast. Earlier, she had truly treated the two ghosts as friends, never expecting that they would want to kill her...

However, Fang Zheng seemed unfazed by this.

”It’s not surprising. They are ghosts, they definitely have a different value system from the living.”

”Is that right, Haruno?”

”Yes, that’s correct.”

Fang Zheng shrugged and then looked towards Shishido Yui and the others, spreading his hands.

”Let’s put it this way, you can think of the grudge spirits here as a kind of spiritual illness... I don’t mean it in a derogative sense, but essentially, these souls have been trapped here for a long time. The pain they endured is unimaginable to ordinary people. Therefore, no matter how innocent a ghost may seem, its reaction will certainly be intense once provoked. Not to mention the grudge spirits...”

Saying this, Fang Zheng looked again at Suzumoto Mayu.

”Just like you said before, you wanted to stay here with them. You thought it was simple, but how likely do you think that is to succeed? You’re alive, and they’re dead, and there’s no food here. Do you really naively believe that just because you accompany these children, they will be at peace? But for them, the best way to be with you forever is to kill you and turn you into a ghost, so you can be with them forever...”

”Eek——!!”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s words, Suzumoto Mayu turned pale, while Ryoki Kashizawa couldn’t stand it anymore and stepped up.

”Hey, that’s enough, stop scaring her!”

”I’m not trying to scare her.”

However, Fang Zheng paid no heed to Ryoki Kashizawa’s protest.

”I’m just warning you all, when dealing with ghosts, you need to be careful with your words. Because you and they are completely different entities, so even the same words can be interpreted differently by them. What might be a simple statement to you could lead to a calamity...”

”True enough.”

At that moment, a cold voice suddenly came from the doorway. Everyone turned around to see a short-haired girl wearing glasses and a purple school uniform, standing there blankly staring at them.

”Were you all just sent here?”

”Yes.”

Ryoki Kashizawa nodded in response to the purple-clad girl’s inquiry.

”What about you? Are you the same? I haven’t seen that uniform before...”

”No.”

In response to Ryoki Kashizawa’s inquiry, the purple-clad girl shook her head.

”I died long ago... I came here looking for someone important...”

It was at this moment that Shizaki Ayumi suddenly sized up the purple-clad girl and asked.

”Um... excuse me... could you be Miss Nanase?”

”...Yes.”

”Who is that?”

Hearing the name, both Ryoki Kashizawa and Fang Zheng were confused, but Shizaki Ayumi seemed very excited.

”She is Nanase Saenoki, the high school spirit medium!”

”Ah!”

At this, Ryoki Kashizawa seemed to remember something.

”The one who won some award last year and was on TV?”

”Yes, yes!!”

At this point, Shizaki Ayumi became even more excited.

”She is very famous on the Spiritual Energy and Supernatural Information homepage. I often read your blog, Miss Nanase!”

”Thank you...”

However, the expression of the purple-clad girl remained unchanged.

”But... it probably won’t be updated anymore.”

”After releasing the ’Happy Yukiko’s Spell Text’, the updates stopped, and I was really worried. Who knew... it would turn out like this...”

Saying this, Shizaki Ayumi looked at Nanase with a somewhat sad expression. Hearing this, Fang Zheng raised an eyebrow, looking thoughtfully at the purple-clad girl in the distance, and at this moment, the purple-clad girl spoke.

”The reason you all are trapped in this school is due to the failure of Happy Yukiko’s Spell Text.”

”Failure?”

Hearing this, the four, except Fang Zheng, were shocked, and the purple-clad girl continued.

”Someone must have recited it too many or too few times, not matching the number of recitations with the participants.”

”Ah?! How could...”

”Maybe someone pretended to participate because it was too much trouble, or just played around with it because they didn’t want it to end, leading to failure.”

”How could it be...”

”Even if it wasn’t intentional, if someone was careless about it, it could still fail.”

”Is, is this true?”

Now Shizaki Ayumi was looking at the others with a less friendly gaze.

”Kashizawa! It wasn’t you, was it? I told you so many times, make sure to recite it nine times!”

”It wasn’t me, it wasn’t me, I really recited it all...”

Facing the intense Shizaki Ayumi, Ryoki Kashizawa hurriedly waved his hand.

”It wasn’t me, it wasn’t me, I really recited it nine times!”

”Who knows.”

However, Nanase, the purple-clad girl, seemed indifferent, even showing a cold smile.

”Maybe someone thought it didn’t matter, thinking it was silently recited, and nobody else would know, assuming it was just a game, never expecting it would result in such terrifying events... Hehehe, no one came forward to apologize, no one admitted it was their mistake...”

”Kashizawa? Was it really you?”

Now not only Ayumi, but even Yui and Mayu looked at Kashizawa in surprise. It’s not surprising since Fang Zheng was an outsider and wasn’t part of the ritual with them before, and Ryoki Kashizawa looked sloppy like a delinquent. If anyone got it wrong, it would likely be him.

”It really wasn’t me!!!”

Ryoki Kashizawa was nearly in tears when Fang Zheng’s voice suddenly rang out.

”Interesting deduction, very interesting. As a return, let me share my reasoning.”

”Haruno?”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s words, everyone turned their heads in surprise, and Fang Zheng sneered, taking out several small pieces of paper from his pocket.

”These papers were found beside the deceased when I went out with Teacher Shishido to look for others. Based on the inscriptions, these people came to this school because they played the ’Happy Yukiko’ game.”

Saying this, Fang Zheng pointed at Shizaki Ayumi.

”I heard her say she often reads your blog, and the last thing recorded on your blog is Happy Yukiko’s Spell Text, right...”

”Yes...”

”Then, Shizaki.”

Fang Zheng continued while looking at Ayumi, who became somewhat nervous under his gaze.

”Yes, what is it?”

”Did you suggest playing Happy Yukiko this time?”

”Ye, yes...”

”The rules you mentioned are based on Miss Nanase’s blog, aren’t they.”

”Yes!”

Ayumi nodded vigorously as she spoke.

”I can guarantee, I absolutely did not remember the spell text wrong!!”

”That’s right.”

Fang Zheng nodded, then revealed a bizarre smile.

”Well, what if the recorded spell text was wrong in the first place?”

”Huh?!”

Facing Fang Zheng’s words, the four were once again shocked, and Ayumi widened her eyes, looking at Fang Zheng in disbelief.

”Wrong... in the first place?”

”That’s correct.”

Saying this, Fang Zheng looked again at the purple-clad girl standing at the door and squinted slightly.

”What she said earlier wasn’t all wrong, perhaps indeed if you recite the spell text incorrectly, you’ll be teleported here. But... what exactly is the correct spell text, none of us know, the current version is only the one recorded on Miss Nanase’s blog, but... who can guarantee that’s definitely correct?”

”But, but why would Miss Nanase do such a thing?”

Ayumi didn’t know what to say either.

”Who knows, maybe she’s trying to find scapegoats, or maybe she wants to drag more people down with her.”

Fang Zheng stared coldly at Nanase Saenoki.

”The reason for my suspicion is because she appeared here and attempted to sow discord among you as soon as she spoke. If she were just a random ghost passerby, I could only say the thoughts of crazy people are wide-ranging, but she’s the originator of spreading the Happy Yukiko spell text, which makes one inevitably think more... not to mention, she’s a spirit medium and has been on shows according to you. So she certainly understands more than those ignorant general public the consequences of this spell text failing, and I also have to admit, she mentioned cases where someone might recite the spell text wrong either out of laziness or accidentally, and indeed such situations could happen...”

Fang Zheng once again snorted lightly.

”Why would she still put this spell text on her blog then? Even if the spell text she recorded is real, but if really one or two people recite it wrong, then isn’t that sending a bunch of people to their deaths? Logically speaking, such things shouldn’t be spread, right? But she actually posted it on her blog... I think her motives shouldn’t be so simple as... just hoping everyone would be happy.”

”This...”

After listening to Fang Zheng’s analysis, everyone’s gaze towards the purple-clad girl became more puzzled and wary. Indeed, as Fang Zheng said, if the spreader of this spell text were just an ordinary person, it might be okay, perhaps they don’t understand the hidden dangers. But Nanase Saenoki is a famous spirit medium, she couldn’t possibly not understand the risk posed by reciting the spell text wrong, yet she still posted it on her blog...

”Hehehe...”

A laugh like a hellish specter was heard, and the next moment, Nanase Saenoki abruptly opened her mouth and laughed.

”Hahaha... Ahahaha... So what? You’re idiots for believing me, as long as it’s for the teacher, I’m willing to do anything, anything!!”

With Nanase’s shriek, the ground started shaking, and the lights began flickering.

”You don’t understand at all, you’re just accompaniments to a grave... you’ll all die here, everyone alike, no one! No one can survive!!”

With the scream, everyone saw Nanase reach out her hand, and a mass of pitch-black fog emerged from behind her, forming a huge ghost shadow, lunging toward them.

”Ah---!!”

Seeing this, almost everyone froze in fear, yet at this moment, Fang Zheng appeared in front of them.

”So you’ve confessed? Good, then let me judge your crimes.”

While speaking, Fang Zheng raised his right hand, the burning primordial fire once again appearing on his fingertip.

”Execution, immediate!”

With Fang Zheng’s words, the burning primordial fire suddenly whirled and spread out, turning into a giant serpent opening its huge mouth, completely swallowing up Nanase Saenoki transformed into dark fog.

”Ah--------!!”

With the scream, a figure disappeared completely into the flames. Fang Zheng flicked his hand, withdrawing the flames.

”Alright, at least we’ve resolved one prime culprit.”

”Phew...”

Seeing the immediate crisis resolved, everyone breathed a sigh of relief, but then they heard a muttering sound.

”It’s all my fault... it’s all my fault... it’s all my fault...”

”Hey, Shizaki!?”

Ryoki Kashizawa looked down, only then noticing Ayumi Shizaki hugging her head, curled up, murmuring to herself.

”It’s all my fault... it’s all my fault... it’s all my fault...”

”Shizaki! Pull yourself together!”

At this point, Shishido Yui also came over, reaching out to try and get her to pull herself together. But as her hand touched Ayumi Shizaki, Ayumi suddenly screamed hysterically.

”Noooooo!!”

With the scream, Ayumi Shizaki inexplicably found the strength to shove Shishido Yui away and then burst out of the classroom.

”Hey!! Shizaki!!”

This time Ryoki Kashizawa also hurriedly chased out of the classroom, but Ayumi’s figure was already gone in the pitch-black corridor.

”Ha... ha...”

On the dim corridor, Ayumi Shizaki ran as if mad.

It’s all my fault!

If I hadn’t read that blog, if I hadn’t made everyone recite those spell texts, then everyone wouldn’t have been dragged here, it’s all my fault!

Wuwuwu...

Thinking of this, Ayumi Shizaki’s tears fell uncontrollably from her eyes, she had no idea where she was headed. But she just didn’t want to return to the classroom, didn’t want to see the faces of the others, she had no idea how to face them.

Wiping her tears, Ayumi Shizaki ran past a corner, then she collided head-on with a pitch-black figure and fell to the ground.

”Ah---”

Falling to the ground, Ayumi Shizaki screamed, she raised her head and then was shocked to see... a giant wearing a mask, holding a huge weapon, standing there, looking at her coldly.

”This, this, this...”

Looking at the terrifying creature in front of her, Ayumi Shizaki was scared speechless, and the giant coldly watched the girl, then raised the weapon in his hand and slammed it down forcefully.

”Boom!!”

Perhaps instinctively, at the moment the weapon was smashed, Ayumi Shizaki sprang up from the ground, dodging the blow, then she screamed as she ran back the way she came.

”No, help, help!!”

Yet, in the empty corridor, there was no echo, only Ayumi’s screams and the sound of the creature dragging the weapon echoing...

”Help!!”

Ayumi Shizaki had reached the end of the corridor, but the classroom door there wouldn’t open, she was trapped with nowhere to go, the footsteps of the creature getting closer behind her...

”Clack!”

Suddenly, the cleaning box beside her opened, and a hand outstretched, abruptly covering Ayumi Shizaki’s mouth and pulling her in!

”Mmm!!”

This sudden ambush scared Ayumi Shizaki, she frantically tried to struggle, but at that moment a cold voice came from near her ear.

”Shut up, don’t speak, be careful not to be found.”

”Mm?”

Hearing the voice by her ear, Ayumi Shizaki then looked back, only to see a black-haired girl of similar stature to herself, wearing a strange uniform, standing behind her.

”Phew...”

Realizing the other person was human, Ayumi Shizaki was somewhat relieved, but before her heart could completely settle. A series of heavy footsteps once again raised Ayumi Shizaki’s tension.

”Boom... boom... boom...”

The footsteps of the creature got closer and closer, then... stopped right in front of the cleaning box where the two were hiding.
