Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 1381: Chapter 1380: You Don’t Seem All That Interested

Fang Zheng played a song in the music room, reminisced about his youthful days, and then left. He didn’t run into anyone and didn’t bother to look for them. After all, the task was to choose one of three places to go, and Fang Zheng chose the music room and even sang a song, as a form of respect to the system.

But what he didn’t expect was that the consequences of his choice wouldn’t show up until the next day.

”Classmate Haruno, someone is looking for you.”

”Oh?”

Not even two minutes after the lunch break started, Fang Zheng was planning to go out and check on Sora, but was stopped by a classmate. The classmate grinned and pointed to the doors nearby.

”It’s ’another’ girl.”

Fang Zheng’s classmates were actually used to this by now. After almost a month into the new school term, Fang Zheng’s reputation had already spread. Some bold girls naturally dared to come confess to Fang Zheng. But with the system’s aid, Fang Zheng could immediately see that these girls’ likability levels were all below ”Rank,” none even reaching 80, so he decisively turned them all down.

Kidding aside, this world is complicated enough; I don’t want to invite more trouble by involving with more girls.

Fortunately, after rejecting many confessions, fewer girls dared to boldly approach Fang Zheng anymore.

But there were still some brave ones willing to face Fang Zheng directly.

”Thank you, I know.”

Fang Zheng nodded at his classmate and then walked out the door. Soon, he saw, not far away, a girl with chestnut long hair, wearing a school uniform and twin-tails. Seeing Fang Zheng appear, the girl looked visibly nervous, fiddling with her hair, unsure of what to do.

”Are you the one looking for me?”

Fang Zheng glanced at the girl and then at her favor level above her head—well, not reaching 80.

”What can I help you with?”

”Ah, hello, Classmate Haruno.”

Upon hearing Fang Zheng’s question, the girl seemed nervous. She took a deep breath and then gave a very cute and sweet smile.

”I’m Komizo Yukina from Class 1-A, um... I have something... I’d like to ask of you.”

”What is it?”

Fang Zheng had then already guessed that this girl wasn’t here to confess, hence his piqued interest.

”Classmate Haruno, you... you’re not in any club right now, are you?”

”That’s right.”

Fang Zheng nodded, while Komizo Yukina hesitated for a moment, then suddenly bowed her head to Fang Zheng.

”Um... sorry to trouble you, could you please join our Light Music Club?”

”Oh?”

Hearing this, Fang Zheng raised an eyebrow.

”Why?”

”Well, our Light Music Club plans to perform at the school festival, but due to certain reasons, the club currently only has the president and me...”

”You’re also in the Light Music Club?”

Fang Zheng looked at the girl in bewilderment. He remembered that when he first visited the clubs, he checked out the Light Music Club, hoping to see four cute girls holding some kind of afternoon tea party. Instead, he saw a group of heavy metal enthusiasts, so he retreated immediately, not remembering this girl among them.

”I remember there were a few more people in the Light Music Club?”

”They’ve all left the club...”

At this point, Komizo Yukina’s expression turned complicated, obviously harboring some unspeakable secrets, but Fang Zheng couldn’t have cared less.

”Then why are you approaching me?”

”Because Classmate Haruno plays the guitar beautifully.”

At these words, Komizo Yukina suddenly got excited, clenching her fists, her eyes glowing as she gazed at Fang Zheng.

”Yesterday, you were performing in the music room, right? I happened to pass by and hear it... even though I couldn’t understand what you were saying, your guitar sounded amazing...”

Bullshit, I was singing a Cantonese song, and if a little Japanese girl like you could understand it, that would be the real problem.

”So, you’re hoping to invite me to join the Light Music Club?”

”Yes!”

”Hmm...”

Looking at the girl before him, Fang Zheng squinted his eyes, observing her with interest. Although Komizo Yukina earnestly tried to show her eagerness to recruit talented people — if she tried a bit harder, she might as well be the protagonist of some idol anime, Fang Zheng could see that her actual thoughts didn’t quite match her demeanor.

”But judging by your appearance, it seems you’re not all that interested in the Light Music Club?”

”Eh?”

Hearing this, Komizo Yukina’s expression froze awkwardly for a moment.

”Classmate Haruno, I don’t quite understand what you mean...”

”Although you’ve worked hard to invite me to join the Light Music Club, it seems to me that what you care about isn’t actually getting the club to perform on stage, but rather the act of ’inviting me to join,’ isn’t it?”

As he spoke, Fang Zheng glanced again at Komizo Yukina, and by this time, Komizo Yukina’s face had turned a bit pale.

Indeed, just as Fang Zheng said, if Komizo Yukina were really the protagonist of some idol anime, going around inviting people just for the sake of performing, her main goal should be something like ”shining together” or ”happily making music and singing.” Yet, Komizo Yukina’s behavior seemed more mechanical... no, it should be described as purely business-like.

Just like a real estate agent who smiles at you not because they genuinely like you, but to sell houses. Currently, Komizo Yukina is the same; although she appears to be doing her best, her actions seemed problematic in Fang Zheng’s eyes.

She isn’t sincerely inviting him for reasons like ”having a more perfect performance after joining.” Instead, Komizo Yukina seems to be fulfilling a task of ”inviting him to join the Light Music Club.” She just acts so well that it looks genuine at first glance.

In fact, she doesn’t seem to care about whether he joins at all.

”This... no, I’m not...”

Faced with Fang Zheng’s question, Komizo Yukina finally began to waver; she was clearly a bit panicked and at a loss for what to do. Fang Zheng didn’t give her any more chances and just waved it off.

”See, this is it, Komizo. Since you’re just following orders, my answer is a refusal.”

”Yes, yes... I see...”

Hearing this, Komizo Yukina forced a stiff smile.

”Then... sorry for disturbing you...”

After saying this, Komizo Yukina turned to leave—as if fleeing in panic.

The little girl is quite interesting.

Watching Komizo Yukina run away in disarray, Fang Zheng smiled slightly; he didn’t really mind what Komizo Yukina did. After all, girls do act to some extent. Even Kurumi once openly told him, ”All girls are natural actresses, and men who get fooled are just willing fools.”

Of course, just like Kurumi said, if it’s love, then one would naturally be willing to be fooled. But unfortunately, there was no such affection between Fang Zheng and Komizo Yukina, so Fang Zheng saw no reason to play along with her act.

”Big brother.”

At this moment, a calm voice came from behind Fang Zheng. Turning his head, he saw Sora standing there holding a lunch box.

”Hey, Sora, when did you arrive?”

Looking at his sister, Fang Zheng smiled and reached out to pat her head, while Sora shook her head and then gazed at Komizo Yukina’s retreating figure.

”Who is she?”

”A-Class Komizo. She came to invite me to join the Light Music Club...”

”Did you agree?”

”Not at the moment.”

Fang Zheng shrugged.

”But come to think of it, aren’t you planning to join any club, Sora?”

Since the beginning of the new semester, Sora naturally also attended school, though reluctantly. Fang Zheng, however, wasn’t about to let her stay at home forever. He had once heard a fairy say that they had neighbors where the sister became a complete shut-in after their parents unexpectedly passed away, not stepping out at all and even wearing a mask during video chats... Fang Zheng didn’t want Sora to end up like that.

So, Fang Zheng directly dragged Sora to school.

Fortunately, because of Fang Zheng’s reputation at school, Sora didn’t suffer any harassment or bullying. Of course, there were a few oblivious people who confessed to Sora, only to be directly rejected.

As for those who persisted even after being rejected and tried to use force... Fang Zheng simply arranged for them to ’transfer schools.’

Though on the surface I’m just a high school student, you can’t really ignore my status as a Time Dragon.

”Not interested.”

Sora’s attitude remained the same as always, so Fang Zheng didn’t pursue the matter further.

”Alright then, let’s go have lunch.”

”Wait.”

However, just when Fang Zheng was about to leave with Sora, she suddenly grabbed his hand.

”There’s someone else.”

”Someone else?”

Hearing Sora’s response, Fang Zheng then noticed that not far behind her, there was a black-haired girl standing there. Judging from both her height and chest, she was the complete opposite of Sora...

”Who might this be...”

”H-hello...”

Feeling Fang Zheng’s gaze, the black-haired girl trembled slightly and lowered her head in embarrassment.

”I-I’m Gui Kotonoha from Year 1, Class C...”

”..........”

Hearing the girl’s introduction, Fang Zheng blinked, looked at his sister, and then at Gui Kotonoha.

How did these two end up together?
