Chapter 1382: Chapter 1381: It’s All the World’s Fault

Fang Zheng’s confusion was quickly resolved; Gui Kotonoha and Sora were in the same class, and coincidentally, both were often observing from the sidelines due to their frail health. Gui Kotonoha was introverted and not good with words, making her feel out of place in the class, while Sora was another extreme.

Although Sora, being Fang Zheng’s sister, could easily fit into a group if she wanted to, she had no interest in these interpersonal interactions. As a result, people hesitated to approach her, and somehow, she and Gui Kotonoha ended up together.

This is the malice of the world...

Sitting on the bench by the flower bed, eating his lunch, Fang Zheng sighed as he looked at Sora and Word Leaf beside him. To be honest, he and Word Leaf were not in the same class. Initially, Fang Zheng intended to avoid her entirely. He didn’t know much about Gui Kotonoha, but from various online jokes, he knew she could be violent.

Fang Zheng always kept away from such unstable factors, and there wouldn’t have been any interaction between him and Gui Kotonoha if he didn’t approach her. However, what Fang Zheng didn’t expect was for Gui Kotonoha to meet him through Sora...

He could only marvel at such an operation.

Even so, Fang Zheng did not take the initiative to talk to Word Leaf, and Gui Kotonoha seemed very afraid of Fang Zheng, not daring to even glance at him. Sora was indifferent to it all, just focused on her lunch. As long as things stayed this way, Fang Zheng wasn’t worried about Gui Kotonoha developing feelings for him.

At least that’s how it was for now.

The three of them had an uneventful lunch. Fang Zheng had no intentions of provoking Gui Kotonoha, and she had no interest in chatting with him. Meanwhile, Sora, as usual, shrank next to Fang Zheng and played games after finishing her lunch, seemingly ignoring Gui Kotonoha. Anyone else might find this awkward, but Fang Zheng noticed that Gui Kotonoha seemed to enjoy this not-too-close dynamic, so he didn’t comment further.

As long as he didn’t flirt, everything should be stable.

Unfortunately, Fang Zheng’s peaceful days only lasted half a day before being disrupted.

As the school bell rang, and Fang Zheng was yawning, ready to go home, a cold voice came from behind him.

”Haruno.”

”Hmm?”

Hearing the voice, Fang Zheng turned around but saw no one.

Then he looked down... Yes, a girl only as tall as his chest was looking up at him expressionlessly.

”Kiyora, what’s up?”

The girl in front of him was Kiyora Setsuna, the girl he helped on his first day at school. By some trick of fate, she ended up in the same class as him. Not only that, but she became the class president of Year 1 Class E, while Fang Zheng was the vice president...

Originally, Fang Zheng was worried that his earlier act of heroism might have inadvertently charmed her, but fortunately, no affection points appeared over Kiyora Setsuna’s head, much to Fang Zheng’s relief. Frankly, compared to those girls who blushed and flirted every time they spoke with him, Kiyora Setsuna’s eternally cool demeanor was easier to deal with. At least Fang Zheng didn’t have to worry about accidentally raising her affection level.

After all, aren’t characters who are difficult to woo known as ’three no’ types?

Though, strictly speaking, Kiyora Setsuna wasn’t a ’three no’ type.

”Someone’s looking for you.”

After saying these words in a light tone, Kiyora Setsuna turned towards the door, and Fang Zheng shrugged and followed her.

Yet, when he followed Kiyora out and saw the girl standing opposite, Fang Zheng immediately wanted to turn around and leave.

”Hello, Classmate Haruno, I’m Saiin-ji Sekai from Year 1 Class A!”

Seeing the energetic Saiin-ji Sekai greeting him spiritedly, Fang Zheng glanced silently at Kiyora Setsuna beside him.

Kiyora, you’ve set me up!!!

Had he known that Saiin-ji Sekai was the one looking for him, he would have made an excuse and bailed!

What a joke! He had just seen Gui Kotonoha at noon, and in the afternoon Saiin-ji Sekai came looking for him. What kind of weird situation was this?

Fang Zheng already felt the world’s profound malice.

But thinking about it more... It was all his own doing, after all, he was the protagonist fated in this world. See, none of the other passersbys mingled with girls as often as he did—in a way, any collision had its timing, yet all his crashes seemed out of sync?

”So, Classmate Saiin-ji, what do you need from me?”

Fang Zheng glanced at Kiyora Setsuna beside him, who showed no intention of leaving, so the possibility of Saiin-ji Sekai confessing to him seemed slim. Plus, given her demeanor, it didn’t seem like she was there to deliver a love letter either.

”It’s like this, Classmate Haruno.”

Saiin-ji Sekai smiled as she spoke, extending her hand towards Fang Zheng.

”I would like you to join our Light Music Club!”

...............

Facing Saiin-ji Sekai’s outstretched hand, Fang Zheng fell silent.

Come to think of it, Saiin-ji Sekai... is part of the Light Music Club?

”Yesterday, Komizo came looking for me...”

”Hmm.”

Saiin-ji Sekai nodded generously.

”I heard from Yukina that you seemed to have refused... but I would still like to invite you to join as the acting president of the Light Music Club.”

”Can I ask why?”

Fang Zheng couldn’t help but feel curious.

”To be honest, I previously visited the Light Music Club, but I didn’t see you or Komizo then... At that time, if I remember correctly, there were a few members in the Light Music Club.”

”That’s right.”

Upon hearing Fang Zheng’s inquiry, Saiin-ji Sekai’s expression became a bit complex.

”In fact, Yukina and I joined after that...”

With Saiin-ji Sekai’s explanation, Fang Zheng finally understood what was going on.

Initially, Saiin-ji Sekai joined the Light Music Club, but after she joined, some things happened—Saiin-ji Sekai was vaguely indicating that there was disagreement in the club because of a female singer, a complex relationship situation, leading the singer to leave due to the pressure. Others also quarreled and walked away, leaving Saiin-ji Sekai alone.

In theory, Saiin-ji Sekai could have left too.

But... she keenly seized the opportunity.

It’s known that in high school clubs, the presidents are usually senior students. Since the seniors left, Saiin-ji Sekai, a first-year student, suddenly became the president of the Light Music Club!

In Japan, seniority is important, so even though Saiin-ji Sekai is a first-year student, she is now the most experienced member of the Light Music Club, making any future members, even seniors, her ”junior.”!

However, Saiin-ji Sekai knew she couldn’t manage alone, and if the numbers were insufficient, the Light Music Club might be forced to disband. Therefore, she invited her classmate and friend, Komizo Yukina, to join and started recruiting people everywhere, mainly targeting first-year students. Upon hearing Yukina say Fang Zheng plays the guitar well, Saiin-ji Sekai immediately decided to invite Fang Zheng to join.

Unfortunately, Komizo Yukina returned with no success.

”I see...”

After listening to Saiin-ji Sekai’s introduction, Fang Zheng nodded, finally understanding why Komizo Yukina seemed enthusiastic yesterday but oddly indifferent. It turned out she didn’t invite Fang Zheng of her own accord, appearing more like she was pulled into the Light Music Club by Saiin-ji Sekai.

”How about it? Would you like to join? We are all first-year students, so it’ll be more relaxed. And Classmate Haruno, you’re quite famous; joining the Light Music Club would surely increase our popularity.”

After clarifying everything, Saiin-ji Sekai smiled mischievously at Fang Zheng. Unlike Komizo Yukina, she seemed quite ”sincere,” revealing her underlying intentions. Fang Zheng wasn’t particularly bothered; as Saiin-ji Sekai mentioned, if there wasn’t any benefit, why would she go through the hassle of recruiting people for the Light Music Club alone?

”Hmm...”

Hearing this, Fang Zheng thought for a moment.

”How many members are in the Light Music Club now?”

”Three, Yukina is the lead singer, and Setsuna is the bass player.”

”...Classmate Kiyora has joined too?”

”Of course.”

While saying this, Sekai glanced at Kiyora, who slightly arched her mouth in a smile, showing Fang Zheng a V-sign.

”...”

Who would have thought there was a traitor among us.

”Well then...”

Thinking about this, Fang Zheng shook his head helplessly. Just as he was about to decide, the Dice of Fate suddenly appeared again, falling in front of him, revealing three options.

[Saiin-ji, you’re so cute, be my girlfriend.]

[Stop playing Light Music, be my wings.]

[Okay, I would like to join the Light Music Club.]

”...”

This is ridiculous, what am I supposed to choose!!

Looking at the choices, Fang Zheng was at a loss for words.

Eventually, he sighed helplessly.

”Alright, I can join.”

It’s all the world’s fault!!
