Chapter 1353: Chapter 1352: Martial King’s Second Campaign Against Zhou?

”.........”

As Fang Zheng’s words fell, the entire great hall was immediately enveloped in a strange atmosphere. Abbot Baozhi was even more dumbfounded, unable to speak for a moment.

”You, how can you......”

”Why can’t I? Remember, I am an ally of the Song Dynasty, but I’m not the same as General Yue Fei. I’m not a citizen of the Song Dynasty, and I don’t need to fully follow the orders of the Song Emperor. I wish to continue to wage war against the Jin Dynasty on behalf of the Miao Territory, do you have any say in it?”

Fang Zheng took a sip of tea, smiling mischievously at Abbot Baozhi. As he mentioned, the current relationship between the Miao Territory and the Song Dynasty was not a single entity; it was more akin to NATO or the Warsaw Pact. After establishing a military alliance, they could indeed collaborate to attack the enemy, but if one side wanted to withdraw for some reason, then the other side could also choose to continue the fight.

”.........Amitabha......”

After a while, Abbot Baozhi once again uttered the Buddha’s name.

”Why should the Immortal Master, with boundless mana, concern himself with the secular world?”

”Because I was once a mortal.”

”But now that the Immortal Master is Transcendent, why not distance yourself from this world and pursue Immortal Ascension?”

”I’m not interested in your way. Your so-called Six Senses Purification is nonsense. If that were truly the case, why don’t you tell me, old monk, if you’re really aiming to leave the secular world, why build temples in prosperous places rather than in some remote mountains? Why do your monks linger in brothels, enjoying the sound of revelry? Where is this so-called Six Senses Purification? I see you having more fun than anyone else, aren’t you? You eat meat while telling us to eat vegetarian? The ancient saying goes that you should not impose on others what you do not desire for yourself... I fear you do not understand it either.”

”The way of Heaven has its laws, doesn’t the Immortal Master fear retribution for defying the Heavenly Dao?”

”What is the Heavenly Dao?”

Fang Zheng scoffed even more at this.

”You declare democracy is democracy, freedom is freedom, and dictatorship is dictatorship? Who do you think you are? Just because you say the Heavenly Dao is supreme doesn’t make it so. Does the Heavenly Dao belong to your family? Would it respond if you called out to it? Even the Emperor needs to announce a decree to the world, yet I’ve never heard the Heavenly Dao saying ’You cannot do this, you cannot do that.’ Instead, you old monk from the Western Paradise are telling me this... do you not know the crime of issuing a false decree?”

”There is a difference between Immortal and Mortal. While the Immortal Master’s power is limitless, adding more killing in the mortal world is unwise. If the Immortal Master insists on proceeding, the consequences could be unimaginable...”

At this, Fang Zheng raised an eyebrow.

”Are you threatening me, old monk?”

”I wouldn’t dare.”

Abbot Baozhi pressed his palms together again.

”I only wish to advise the Immortal Master not to act recklessly, or else heaven’s punishment might not only endanger your life but also jeopardize the lands of the Song Dynasty...”

”Oh, I understand now.”

This time, before Abbot Baozhi could finish, Fang Zheng interrupted him with a cold laugh.

”You mean to say, you want another Martial King’s rebellion against King Zhou, don’t you.”

”......!!!”

Upon hearing this, both the Emperor and Yue Fei, along with Abbot Baozhi, were taken aback.

They naturally understood what Fang Zheng’s words implied!

”Very well.”

Having said this, Fang Zheng couldn’t be bothered to speak further, standing up.

”I will be waiting here. I want to see who dares to cause trouble in front of me! Hmph, there is a difference between Immortal and Mortal? When the common people suffer from war, everyone acts dead in the sky. Now you’re pretending to be good? Let’s see who has the audacity to act insolent before me! And you all.......”

As he spoke, Fang Zheng stared coldly at Abbot Baozhi.

”Western Paradise’s heretical monks, disrupting my Central Plains, seizing our Divine Land’s destiny, and still daring to spew nonsense here, do you really think there’s no one in the Lower Realm? A few hundred years ago, you colluded with the Chan Sect to destroy Nuwa’s faith, wrecking the Heavenly Dao of the mortal world, yet now you dare to lecture me... do you think I’m easy to bully?! I want to see who dares to obstruct my path this time!”

As he spoke, Fang Zheng shot Abbot Baozhi a cold smile.

”I advise you, old monk, to mind your own business... I wonder how long Buddhism can continue to spring around in this land... hehe...”

After saying this, Fang Zheng turned and left, leaving Abbot Baozhi standing there with a dark complexion, his chest heaving.

Meanwhile, the Emperor and Yue Fei exchanged glances without daring to interject. They hadn’t anticipated that the war against Jin could also involve a conflict between the Celestial and the Mortal, leaving the situation entirely beyond their control.

Watching Fang Zheng’s departure, Yue Fei hesitated for a moment, then suddenly stood up, bowing to the Emperor.

”Your Majesty, your humble servant has urgent matters to attend to, I request permission to take my leave first.”

”...Alright then.”

The Emperor wasn’t foolish. If he couldn’t see there was more to Abbot Baozhi’s obstruction of the war against the Jin, his position as Emperor might as well be forfeited for selling sweet potatoes. Ultimately, after much thought, the Emperor sighed reluctantly and nodded.

With the Emperor’s permission, Yue Fei also shot Abbot Baozhi a cold glare, then hurriedly turned and went after Fang Zheng.

”Celestial Immortal!!”

Fang Zheng hadn’t yet left the Royal Palace when he saw Yue Fei rushing out.

”Where does the Celestial Immortal intend to go?”

”To the frontline.”

Fang Zheng shrugged his shoulders.

”You of the Song Dynasty want to negotiate peace with the Jin Dynasty, that’s your business, but I do not intend to negotiate peace with the Jin. The Jin, the Mongolian Yuan, and Liaoxia are all nothing but trouble. If I don’t seize this opportunity to wipe them out, should I keep them for the new year?”

”Hahaha, the Celestial Immortal’s words are always so amusing.”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s reply, Yue Fei laughed heartily.

”I also wish to join you, is that possible?”

”Oh? You have no problem? Your Emperor seems unwilling.”

”I act as... an individual. Yes, as the Celestial Immortal once said, I am not acting in the capacity of a General of the Song Dynasty, but rather personally to continue the campaign against the Jin with the Celestial Immortal. Do you agree?”

”Sure, having General Yue Fei’s assistance is better than having a thousand troops.”

Fang Zheng naturally welcomed Yue Fei’s initiative to help. Although he had trained Miao and Han soldiers through the war against Jin, it’s often said that a general is hard to find even with a thousand troops. Fang Zheng lacked sufficiently skilled generals on his side, while Yue Fei was a renowned general against the Jin, with a widespread reputation, making it easier to recruit more soldiers.

As for public sentiment... hehe, Fang Zheng has prepared a big surprise for that old bald monk.

He hopes he’ll like it.

On this side, Abbot Baozhi too had left the Royal Palace early. He hadn’t expected that this Immortal Master would be so assertive, directly ready to defy the Divine Buddhas in confrontation, and it startled him greatly. With no other options, Abbot Baozhi returned to the temple to contemplate further.

”Abbot, something bad has happened! Abbot!!”

However, what Abbot Baozhi didn’t expect was that just as he left the Royal Palace, he was quickly approached by monks from his temple who rushed over to grab him. Witnessing this, Abbot Baozhi frowned.

”What’s wrong? What’s caused this panic?”

”Abbot, a moment ago you said in the Royal Palace that you wanted to make peace with the Jin and cease attacks on the Jin Dynasty, correct?”

”Hmm?”

Hearing this, Abbot Baozhi was suddenly taken aback.

”How did you know that?”

To ensure confidentiality, only the Emperor, Abbot Baozhi, Fang Zheng, and Yue Fei were present in the Imperial Study, along with some guards and eunuchs. No matter how fast the news spread, it couldn’t have spread this quickly!

”Abbot, you wouldn’t know! Shortly after you entered the palace, there was an anomaly in the sky, broadcasting exactly what you said in the Imperial Study to the world! Now... many people are gathering to besiege Jinji Temple, saying they want to burn it down!”

”What!?”

Hearing this, Abbot Baozhi was greatly shocked. He finally understood why, upon his recent exit, the guards and soldiers in the Royal Palace had cast unfriendly glances his way.

But what on earth was happening?!
