Chapter 1367: Chapter 1366: Where Do You Want to Go?

After bidding farewell to Bishop Carl, Fang Zheng went searching for the Golden Dragon Girl’s lair. If he remembered correctly, the Golden Dragon Girl had mentioned her lair was not far from the Holy City. Fortunately, thanks to ”Ratziel,” Fang Zheng easily found her lair within the Radiant Mountains near the Holy City.

He could confirm it was the Golden Dragon Girl’s lair for two reasons.

First, it’s quite lively here.

Second, the Golden Dragon Girl was enthusiastically running around with a large pile of gold and silver treasure, looking as if she had just won five million in a lottery while planning to grab a barbecue on her way home.

”La la la, the air on Dragon Island is so wonderful, the flowers are smiling at me, look at the flames spewed by the volcano, that is.....”

”Hey, what are you doing?”

Seeing the Golden Dragon Girl so joyful she seemed ready to bust out a song about how the skies are clear in the liberated zone, Fang Zheng was bewildered. He hurriedly descended from above, baffled, and asked. Upon seeing Fang Zheng arrive, the Golden Dragon Girl showed a delighted smile.

”Ah, Mr. Fang Zheng, why are you here? Hahaha, you’re not thinking of coming to see me off, are you? There’s no need for such formality. I think you should come with me back to Dragon Island... Oh, the thought of that sweet, delicious roast is too enticing!”

”Stop, stop, stop!”

Grabbing Fang Zheng by the arm and trying to walk away, Fang Zheng quickly halted her.

”Wait, you haven’t clarified yet, where are you going?”

”I’m going back to Dragon Island, of course.”

”You don’t want to be the Pope anymore?”

”Nope! I’m liberated now!”

”Liberated??? What do you mean???”

”It’s very simple.”

While continuing to pack her belongings, the Golden Dragon Girl cheerfully replied.

”Because the Pope is dead.”

”......??? Wait a minute.”

Upon hearing this, Fang Zheng was momentarily stunned.

”What do you mean by the Pope is dead so you don’t want the job anymore? You’ve been the Pope for so long, and several Popes have died during your tenure, right?”

”Yes, but each Pope had a designated successor before they died. I said that I guard the Pope, so as long as the Pope is around, I have to stay.”

”So, now you’re saying....... the Pope died without leaving a successor? Wait a minute, how do you know the Pope died? How did he die? Where did he die?”

”I don’t know.”

The Golden Dragon Girl’s answer could truly drive someone mad.

”Then how can you be sure the Pope is dead?”

”According to the agreement, the Pope must return each year to offer tribute and communicate with me, but this year the tribute period has completely passed without the Pope showing up, so he must be dead. Since the Pope has died without appointing a successor, I can go back!”

”Wait, wait, wait....”

Stunned by the Golden Dragon Girl’s chaotic logic, Fang Zheng massaged his forehead as he sorted through the situation.

”Let me sort this out..... So your point is, the agreement states that the Pope must offer tribute to you annually, and because this year he didn’t, you quit?”

Isn’t this just like a corporate worker quitting because the boss didn’t pay them for a year?

”That’s right!”

”But wait a minute, isn’t your duty to protect the Pope? What if the Pope isn’t dead?”

”Oh, what does that have to do with me? By then, I would’ve long returned to Dragon Island to enjoy my freedom. At worst, a few meals won’t have any meat, but that’s fine, my sister is also at the age where she needs to see the world.......”

MMP, this must be your true thoughts!

Fang Zheng finally understood, these are just excuses; the Golden Dragon Girl just wants to use this opportunity to escape this unlucky labor role, and if things fall apart, she can scam her sister into becoming the scapegoat!

Goodness, are all of you Golden Dragons this devious?

”So, Mr. Fang Zheng, let’s go to Dragon Island together, I can introduce you to my parents, they will definitely like you!”

Now the Golden Dragon Girl had packed up her belongings, like migrant workers returning home for the New Year, standing in front of Fang Zheng with bags in tow, chuckling as she spoke. Fang Zheng looked at her helplessly before sighing. Then Fang Zheng extended his hand towards the Golden Dragon Girl, and with a flash of radiance, all of the Golden Dragon Girl’s luggage—carried in hands, on her back, in her mouth, and wrapped around her tail—vanished without a trace!

”Wha-What are you doing?!”

Realizing her luggage disappeared into thin air, the Golden Dragon Girl was astonished, leaping up to fiercely grab Fang Zheng’s collar, shaking him back and forth with all her might.

”Give it back, I worked so hard for that, risking my life as Acting Pope to gather all of it! Give back my treasure!”

”Come with me to find the Pope, and once found, I’ll return your treasure to you.”

Seeing the Golden Dragon Girl’s face streaked with tears, Fang Zheng felt at a loss. Those who didn’t know better might think he’d done something dreadful to her.

”Really?”

To Fang Zheng’s surprise, upon hearing this, the Golden Dragon Girl’s face switched from crying to sunshine like a child’s face in May, as easily as flipping a switch....

”You must keep your word, once the Pope is found, you must give me back my treasure!”

”No matter what, I wouldn’t covet a little girl’s small amount of stuff.”

Fang Zheng indicated that he wasn’t interested in the Golden Dragon Girl’s treasure. After all, he’s a man who owns several worlds; why care about the little treasure in the Golden Dragon Girl’s hands?

”It’s a deal! Agreed! Swear it by Bahamut’s name!”

As a quasi-god, swearing by another deity’s name—what kind of strange thing is that.

Hearing the Golden Dragon Girl’s persistent demands, Fang Zheng helplessly rolled his eyes.

”Swearing by Bahamut’s name is impossible, at most I’ll swear by my own name.”

”Well..... Okay.”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s response, the Golden Dragon Girl was dissatisfied, but after contemplating long and hard, she finally nodded reluctantly. However, the next moment, she jumped over with a smile, grabbing Fang Zheng’s hand.

”Alright, Mr. Fang Zheng, let’s go, and find that untrustworthy Pope!”

”....... Do you know where the Pope is?”

”Sigh hey!”

”Hey your sister! You’re clearly doing this on purpose, aren’t you!”

Watching the Golden Dragon Girl making faces at him, Fang Zheng was utterly speechless. Clearly, she knew very well about the Pope’s disappearance but was intentional in using this opportunity to sneak away!

The Pope really entrusted the wrong person....

Looking at the mischievous Golden Dragon Girl, Fang Zheng sighed in resignation.

”So, where is the Pope?”

As soon as the topic was broached, the Golden Dragon Girl promptly shifted from her playful demeanor to a more serious expression.

”Twilight Border.”

”.......”

Does this Pope possess mind reading abilities?
