Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 1376: Chapter 1375: I’m No Longer Surprised About Anything

With the retreat of the Chaos Knight, the battle has temporarily come to an end. Although Fang Zheng felt a bit annoyed that the Chaos Knight was scared away by his own little girls, all’s well that ends well... he didn’t bother to complain further.

The battle at Twilight Frontier hasn’t ended yet, so Fang Zheng quickly gathered his forces and began building a fortress on-site. He roughly guessed the true identity of that Chaos Knight; since the opponent actively sought them out, it indicated that the knight’s order should be nearby. Even if they have been scared off for now, there’s no telling when they might return.

Of course, after this, Fang Zheng finally met the Pope brought by the Golden Dragon Girl.

How should I put it...

”Nothing can surprise me anymore.”

Seeing Fina standing beside the Golden Dragon Girl, Fang Zheng sighed deeply. To be honest, when Fang Zheng first saw this Miss Cleric appear, he was somewhat surprised, but he quickly calmed down afterward.

”I never thought that this Pope would be running around everywhere... I must say, Lady Fina, your heart is big enough.”

”...Mr. Fang Zheng...”

Facing Fang Zheng’s joke, Fina seemed a bit embarrassed.

”In fact, I...”

”No need to apologize, no need to apologize, I don’t have any complaints about you hiding your identity.”

Fang Zheng waved his hand, interrupting Fina. To be honest, he genuinely didn’t have any complaints about Fina. Although Fina had several times fallen into dangerous situations with him, not once was it her fault leading Fang Zheng into them. Instead, it was always Fang Zheng stepping into danger first, and then Fina actively followed. Unlike those useless or troublesome women, this Miss Cleric... oh wait, Pope, always managed to help him a lot, so Fang Zheng really had no grievances against her.

However...

”I must say, Lady Fina, isn’t it too reckless for you to fight the Evil Dragon here alone? Why not call us along?”

Fang Zheng felt a bit dissatisfied with this; after all, they are friends. If you’re going out to risk your life, why not call upon my Heavenly Dao Palace? Is it because you look down on us or something?

”I am very sorry, Mr. Fang Zheng.”

Fina still maintained the appearance of a Little Priest, the only difference being that the small staff, which she always held close, about half an arm’s length, had now transformed into a white magic wand as tall as a person, engraved with the holy seal from the Goddess of Order... well, at least compared to those distorted things looking like Evil Gods’ murals, this holy seal was quite reliable, composed of three equilateral triangles merged together, filled with a kind of geometric and orderly beauty.

It seems the Goddess of Order at least knows what should be displayed outside and what shouldn’t be.

Holding this magic wand, the Little Priest indeed had a few Pope-like airs about her, but unfortunately her clothes, worn during the previous battle, were dirty and torn, and even the originally clean face was covered with dust and soot, looking somewhat disheveled.

”Mr. Fang Zheng’s Heavenly Dao Palace is the last barrier of the Order World, I don’t want to act recklessly, after all, the journey is almost a one-way ticket to death, even in failure, at least... it can preserve a thread of fire for the Order World.”

Fina’s words now carried some Pope-like air, bluntly put, it’s like not putting all eggs in one basket; Fang Zheng didn’t oppose this idea... frankly, he could understand it.

But Fang Zheng was still a bit curious.

”What in the world are you doing traipsing over to Twilight Frontier? It’s not like you thought the scenery was especially good here and planned to develop a tourism project.”

”Ahahaha...”

Fina had traveled with Fang Zheng several times, and naturally knew that Fang Zheng always comes up with strange words, so she didn’t mind too much and just smiled wryly.

”It’s not like that. In fact, ever since I learned from Kani that Mr. Fang Zheng was attacked, I’ve been investigating the matter...”

While she spoke, Fina lifted her head and glared at Kani, while the Golden Dragon Girl pretended as if she hadn’t seen it.

”But what surprised me was that during the investigation, I inadvertently discovered connections between Baemons the Evil Dragon and the Chaos Knight Order... Mr. Fang Zheng should know that Baemons the Evil Dragon is an Abyssal Fallen Silver Dragon, right? Have you ever considered why it appears in the Main Dimension?”

”Now that you mention it... it is indeed peculiar.”

Fang Zheng, hearing Fina’s words, recalled hearing from the Golden Dragon Girl that Baemons the Evil Dragon is one of the Abyssal Lords, and its lair should be in the Abyss. Initially, Fang Zheng thought about fighting from Hell all the way to the Abyss to capture this old guy, but didn’t expect it to proactively run to the Main Dimension.

Earlier, when seeing Baemons the Evil Dragon, Fang Zheng was only thinking about taking advantage while it’s weak, but now upon closer inspection... he broke out in a cold sweat.

”Could it be that this Evil Dragon is fake?”

Let’s not follow that Illidan path, where first being the boss, then imprisoned, revived, and finally redeemed!

”That’s not the case.”

Fortunately, Fina gave Fang Zheng a reassuring answer.

”In fact, according to my investigation, Baemons the Evil Dragon’s lair was destroyed earlier; it appeared in the Main Dimension partly to heal, and partly because of an agreement with the Chaos Knight Order.”

”Agreement?”

”That’s right.”

Fina nodded, her expression becoming much more serious.

”Honestly, I’m not too clear on the specifics either, but judging from various signs, the Chaos Knight Order seems to want to join forces with the evil dragon to destroy this world’s order barrier, letting chaos completely swallow the world.”

”Now?”

Hearing this, Fang Zheng couldn’t help but furrow his brow; he felt that the timing was somewhat delicate. Actually, many games have similar situations, but thinking about it carefully reveals something suspicious. In most games, the main characters are teenagers, barely two decades old from birth.

Yet those bosses are evil beings hundreds or thousands of years old. Why don’t they execute these plans before the main character is born? Why do they need to wait until the protagonist is born?

Of course, you could also say that it’s precisely because they’ve executed the plan and gotten caught, that the ones who ruin their plans become the protagonists—this is a chicken-and-egg problem.

”I find it strange too, especially the Chaos Knight’s attempt to rescue the evil dragon earlier... You should know, even though the evil dragon is here recuperating, it hasn’t had much contact with the Chaos Knights. I can only guess that perhaps this evil dragon is an important part of the Chaos Knights’ plan. Fortunately, Mr. Fang Zheng managed to eliminate the evil dragon.”

”Indeed.”

Saying this, Fang Zheng couldn’t help but let out a long sigh. He also felt at the time that since the Chaos Knights were trying to save the evil dragon, it definitely must be a critical character, so without hesitation, he killed it... Damn, remembering it now, that creature hadn’t bathed in thousands of years and stank to death. He must brush his teeth later!

”By the way, Lady Fina, I have another question I want to ask.”

Thinking of this, Fang Zheng suddenly remembered something else.

”What is it, Mr. Fang Zheng?”

”You might have seen it before, when my little girls chased away the Chaos Knights... I don’t get it, why do I struggle to fight that guy, yet my little kids come out, and he scatters everywhere? Then before leaving, that guy looked at my little girls and mentioned something about Chosen Ones... What does that mean?”

At this point, Fina’s identity wasn’t a secret. Fang Zheng naturally guessed that she was the reincarnation of the Goddess of Order. As for why Fina travels the world as a cleric, Fang Zheng understood clearly. After all, the backups of the Goddess of Order laid it out clearly: each reincarnation of the Goddess must travel the world for several years to experience life. Thankfully, this time it was a Miss Cleric and not some cold glasses girl who looked like a computer or a mercenary who guzzles wine and devours meat.

”I see.”

Upon hearing this, Fina nodded, then thought for a moment before looking back at Fang Zheng.

”Mr. Fang Zheng, those little sisters... they’re not from this world, are they?”

”That’s true, they come from other worlds... Is there a problem?”

The fact that Fang Zheng could summon was not kept secret from Fina, and she didn’t seem to mind either.

”That’s the problem.”

”??? I don’t quite understand...”

”The so-called Chosen One is the object favored by the Will of the World. When favored by the Will of the World, one receives the support of all the world’s forces...”

”Oh, so they’re the protagonists...”

Hearing this, Fang Zheng understood; indeed Fate and Nanoha are protagonists, and Little Sakura and Shisei are also protagonists. As for Illya and Little Hei... are they? Fang Zheng wasn’t sure. But clearly, Fina meant that these little girls were protagonists of their world, so they received that world’s power to counter the Chaos Knights?

But wait!!

”Didn’t I also receive some... Order Seal? Doesn’t that make me a Chosen One?”

”Not quite.”

Faced with Fang Zheng’s surprised rebuttal, Fina merely smiled helplessly.

”I know, Mr. Fang Zheng has the power of the Order Seal, but Mr. Fang Zheng may not know, the Order Seal and the Chaotic Power are both forces of this world, cut from the same cloth...”

”What the heck!”

Hearing this, Fang Zheng suddenly became gloomy.

So the little girls’ attacks are effective because they come from another world, where the world power settings are incompatible, creating an effect.

While he possesses powers from the Main World, resulting in immunity due to same attribute attacks?!

Who would listen to such reasoning!
