Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 1379: Chapter 1378: This Damn System Is Acting Up Again

Seeing this task, Fang Zheng’s first reaction was—MMP, this broken system is itchy for trouble again!

You couldn’t come up with anything else, you just had to create a love game world. What does that even mean? I was all set to save the world or battle evil, and then you throw this at me?

This reminded Fang Zheng of the time he bought a bootleg ”Mjolnir” CD. When he installed it on his computer, he found that it was actually ”Cute Heart-Pounding Cat Ear Dream”... It left him utterly speechless!

Furthermore... daily love? Fine. But it even says if a girl’s affection exceeds 80, she can’t die; the protagonist himself can’t die. What is that supposed to mean? Isn’t this just a regular daily romance game world?

Of course, not being able to die as the protagonist makes sense. After all, if the protagonist dies, the game itself obviously can’t go on. But not having anyone with a goodwill score above 80 die... I don’t have goodwill-glasses! How am I supposed to know whose goodwill is above 80?

Besides, what does it mean to worry about someone’s death after their goodwill reaches 80? Is life in this game world really so fragile?

Well... Fang Zheng does remember Gui Kotonoha and Saiin-ji Sekai. Although he hasn’t watched much of their anime, the overwhelming barrage of comments and group memes left Fang Zheng with some impression of their lives. Basically, both of them liked the same man. Then the man got involved with Sekai and abandoned her, leading to Sekai stabbing him to death, and Kotonoha avenging him by killing Sekai... Yeah, it’s true they are prone to dying.

As for Kazusa Touma and Komizo Yukina, Fang Zheng’s impression of them is mostly limited to the meme ”Touma Three Sprite” that practically spams everything, right up to Granny’s house.

But there shouldn’t be any life-threatening issues with these two.

Honestly, Fang Zheng hasn’t really been into any of the works these girls are from. But he has received enough feedback from other viewers to know that these stories are love triangles, heartburn shows. Fang Zheng has absolutely no interest in these anime where people get heartburn. The male protagonists are always wishy-washy and foolish, and Fang Zheng has always steered clear of such ”Let them die” genres.

With this kind of energy, he’d rather watch a few more refined works like ”OO” or ”Campus O Humiliate” to cultivate his artistic taste and critique society. At least the male leads in those go straight for action, creating a storm on campus, and there’s no mental strain involved.

Speaking of which, if it’s all a love game world, why not just transfer me to the world of eroge? Wouldn’t that be awesome?

Of course, these are just Fang Zheng’s complaints. Now that the task is set, it’s obvious what Fang Zheng needs to do next.

It’s simple, really. Just find a girlfriend, focus on raising her goodwill, and ignore everyone else, right? Such a simple task can’t be difficult. Besides, this is just an ordinary love game world; there aren’t any threatening creature enemies, just a bunch of girls in love over trivial matters. What’s the challenge?

With this thought, Fang Zheng felt at ease. However, just as he was about to turn and leave, a dice suddenly appeared before his eyes.

”What’s this...”

Seeing the dice, Fang Zheng was stunned. He remembered this was the Dice of Fate... come to think of it, it’s been ages since he traveled to a normal instance. He had even forgotten about this thing... what’s it doing here?

Looking at the Dice of Fate, Fang Zheng suddenly had an ominous feeling. In the Elf World, this thing almost got him into trouble with a guy. Now that he’s back in a proper instance, this thing pops up to cause trouble again?

”Clatter!”

Without giving Fang Zheng time to ponder further, the Dice of Fate had already fallen to the ground, rolled a few times, and then stopped with a ”3” showing.

Immediately, a new system notification appeared before Fang Zheng.

[Random Daily Mode Activated]

[Random Daily—Fate]

[As the protagonist, you’re destined to encounter various incidents; every meeting could potentially be a new beginning—Random Daily mode activated, Note: You must complete at least one Random Daily, or else a girl with a goodwill above 80 will be randomly eliminated]

MMP, you two teamed up to mess with me, didn’t you!

Angry, Fang Zheng stared at the notification. His nose was out of joint and his eyes was crossed. The system was created by Laozi, and the Dice of Fate was molded by me using the Chaos Flames. I’m practically your father, and you stab your own dad like this? Trouble me with a FLAG when I don’t want one? Besides, the main quest says if a girl with a goodwill above 80 dies, I’ll fail the task. Yet your Daily punishment randomly kills one such girl. Why not just threaten me with task failure directly?

Why be so convoluted?!

It’s infuriating!

But... this system plotted and schemed, and still, it missed one crucial thing: there isn’t yet a girl around Fang Zheng with a goodwill above 80.

Ha ha ha, even the wisest man makes a mistake!

I’ll just stick around and see who outlasts who!

With this idea, Fang Zheng happily went back home, not forgetting to buy ingredients for dinner at a convenience store on the way.

”Sora, come out, it’s time to prepare for dinner, what do you want to eat tonight?”

Returning home, Fang Zheng immediately began to prepare dinner. Although Sora liked snacks, Fang Zheng wasn’t about to indulge her bad habit. Given her poor health, a diet of snacks would only make it worse. Even though Fang Zheng has never traveled to some ”Chinese Little Master” glowing cuisine world, he’s quite capable of making a home-cooked meal.

Yet, to his dismay, he’s inadvertently spoiled Sora’s taste buds. She refuses to eat any food other than his cooking, preferring to starve otherwise.

Except for snacks, of course.

”Clatter.”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s call, Sora opened the door and curiously peeked out. Seeing the ingredients on the table, she immediately stepped out.

”What are we making tonight?”

”Let’s make a soup and then stew some potatoes with beef. It’s easy, convenient, and delicious.”

Fang Zheng clapped his hands, then looked at Sora coming towards him. In the next moment—Fang Zheng was suddenly stunned.

”Brother?”

Watching Fang Zheng gaze at her in a daze, Sora asked curiously. Hearing her voice, Fang Zheng snapped back to reality and waved his hand dismissively.

”It’s nothing... just suddenly remembered something... Alright, let’s start cooking.”

As he spoke, Fang Zheng looked at Sora in front of him. At first glance, she seemed no different from usual, but if he concentrated, he could see a thermometer-like marker above her head.

There was also a line of information.

[Sora Haruno (Goodwill: 98)]

”.........”

How to put it...

Fang Zheng now just wanted to grab the system and give it a good thrashing.

Your own sister counts as a target for wooing?

Are you crazy?
