Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 547: Chapter 546 The Dragon Race’s Marriage: Blissful Yet Dangerous

Having confirmed that the Golden Dragon Girl was not an enemy, Fang Zheng finally felt at ease, and then he informed her about his suspicion that the banquet might be dangerous. Hearing Fang Zheng’s words, the Golden Dragon Girl furrowed her brows and showed a troubled expression.

”You’re saying you feel attending this banquet might be dangerous? Hmm... I finally understand why you brought so few people with you this time...”

The Golden Dragon Girl wasn’t particularly bothered by Fang Zheng’s ”fear of death,” as the value system of the Dragon Race differed from humans. Nobody who could live desired to die unless someone attacked them or attempted to plunder the treasures in their lair. Most of the Dragon Race preferred to sleep in their own lairs rather than stir up trouble elsewhere.

After all, dragons knew better than anyone that the higher you jump, the harder you fall...

”However... here? In the Holy City? If you weren’t a Time Dragon, I’d think you were joking with me. Who would dare to make a move here... No, wait, there actually might be some...”

”Do you have any clues?”

”Of course.”

When Fang Zheng asked, the Golden Dragon Girl proudly patted her chest.

”How should I put it, I’m the Protector of the Kingdom of the Holy Church. I’m fully aware of what happens here. The entire Holy City is enveloped by the Goddess’s Guardian Barrier, so at the very least, Chaos’s minions cannot enter. If there’s someone daring enough to cause trouble on my domain, I think it’s more likely to be the followers of the Demon King of Hell. But would they really have the guts to do so? If those people dared to make trouble in the Holy City, I’ll go to Hell tomorrow to have tea with their master... There are better ways to break a pact than this...”

”Break a pact?”

Hearing the new term from the Golden Dragon Girl, Fang Zheng paused, and the Golden Dragon Girl waved her hand.

”Oh, you might not know, but when the Goddess created the world, it wasn’t just her alone. As they say, where there is light, there is darkness; where there is good, there is evil; where there is life, there is death... Everything is a part of the order. So from the beginning, the Goddess and other deities, as well as the Demon King, signed an Order Pact, specifying that everyone must act according to order... Simply put, the stability of order is the supreme first element, and any action that endangers the stability of order must be stopped. The Holy City is not just the core of the Kingdom of the Holy Church, it is also the pillar of order for the entire continent. If they cause any trouble in the Holy City, they’ll have to bear the consequences!”

”So... when the Holy Spirit Knight fell...”

Hearing this, Fang Zheng was taken aback and then he suddenly remembered the story he had heard about the Holy Spirit Order. The Golden Dragon Girl sighed.

”Although I wasn’t in charge at that time, I’m also aware of it. To be honest, it was quite pitiful for that mortal, but who told him to side with Chaos? If he had chosen to follow the Demon King of Hell instead, it would have been better than siding with Chaos. At least the Goddess’s Barrier wouldn’t have stopped him. But since he was tainted with the power of Chaos, and ended up driving himself mad, well, that’s too bad. The stability of order is the highest priority. No matter what grievances you have, Chaos must not be allowed to disrupt the Order Core... So... in any case, it’s not my problem. I’ll just let those mortals handle it.”

”...”

Hearing this, Fang Zheng was utterly speechless. So it turned out the reason the former Knight Commander of the Holy Spirit Order couldn’t enter the Holy City was because he chose the wrong side...

However...

”Are you certain that Chaos and the Demon King of Hell won’t join forces? When I was in the Dark Marsh... weren’t those Cultists collaborating with the Chaos Monster Lord planning to attack the Northlands?”

Although Fang Zheng didn’t pay attention to the follow-up investigation of that incident, based on the situation at the time, it seemed less like the Demon King of Hell was taking advantage of Chaos’s assault on the Northlands and more like a joint tactic between the two.

”That’s hard to say.”

Mentioning this, the Golden Dragon Girl too showed a look of distress.

”I sent people to investigate this as well, but so far there are no clues. That’s why mortals are mortals, they can’t even handle such a simple thing... But don’t worry, if all else fails, just stick by my side. I’m carrying the summoning horn bestowed by His Majesty Bahamut, so in case of emergency, I can summon Him immediately. By the way, if we do encounter danger and I end up saving you, remember to propose marriage to His Majesty Bahamut, okay?”

While saying this, the Golden Dragon Girl stretched out her pinky finger with a mischievous grin.

”Come on, pinkie promise!”

”.........”

Staring at the tiny pinkie extended in front of him, Fang Zheng couldn’t help falling into silence.

What’s more important, his life or his chastity?

The answer, of course, is beyond doubt.

”So I...”

”The Alliance Hierarch doesn’t need your protection.”

But before Fang Zheng could finish, Black Katie, who had been silent by his side, suddenly stepped in, positioning herself between Fang Zheng and the Golden Dragon Girl, holding a silver staff, and staring coldly at the Golden Dragon Girl in front of her.

”With me here, the Alliance Hierarch won’t suffer any harm, so you don’t need to meddle!”

”Adults are talking here, kid. It’s not your place to butt in; you’re not even part of the Dragon Race.”

The Golden Dragon Girl glanced at Black Katie and curled her lip, her reaction quite normal. Among the Dragon Race, whether it’s the law-abiding Metal Dragons or inherently evil Colorful Dragons, or even neutral parties like Power Dragons, Crystal Dragons, and Time Dragons, there is an accepted rule: only marriages within the same race are considered legitimate. Courtships with other species—even if it leads to romantic trysts—mean nothing. In fact, it’s not uncommon for female dragons to encourage male dragons to actively pursue relationships with females of other species.

The reason is simple: after all, nobody is born knowing how to do the deed—dragons enjoy it as well. For the female dragons, a partner who is experienced and knows how to make them happy is obviously preferable to a novice who doesn’t even know where to put his feet in bed.

So for the female dragons, issues like ”How are you so skilled? How many times have you been with her?” aren’t really concerns. Instead, problems are more likely to arise with remarks like, ”You can’t even do this and you want to be my mate? Can’t you practice with females of other species first?”

Therefore, first marriages can be a real sore point for many male dragons, resulting in marital discord that may last a few hundred years—and that’s considering a good outcome. If not, it wouldn’t be unusual for a male dragon to be slapped to death by a female dragon.

Of course, it’s usually the Colorful Dragons who tend to commit such acts.

”No matter what, I will protect the Alliance Hierarch, and I don’t need you.”

Black Katie’s voice was soft, but very resolute. Hearing Black Katie’s reply, the Golden Dragon Girl snorted lightly.

”Tsk, I was just making a suggestion. I’m a Golden Dragon, not a Green Dragon; I would never take advantage of someone in a vulnerable position... But...”

At this point, the Golden Dragon Girl once again turned to look at Fang Zheng.

”Think about it, huh? Our ages are not far apart, and I am ready to bear children! I’m also confident in my appearance. Since you have no companion or spouse, I should have some priority, right?”

”Not necessary!”

”Ah...”

Watching Black Katie and the Golden Dragon Girl at odds with each other, Fang Zheng couldn’t help sighing.

Aren’t you two focusing on the wrong thing?
