Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 501: 500 Chapters The difference in aesthetic views is really huge!

What appeared before Fang Zheng was a colossal underground cavern, reaching over a hundred meters in height. The flat ceiling and various supports above suggest that this was clearly man-made. And on the ground, one could see all kinds of strange devices. Although Fang Zheng didn’t know what they were for, it was certain that this place was more than just a simple cavern.

However...

”Is this... really a relic of the Goddess?”

Looking at the space before him, the corner of Fang Zheng’s eye began to twitch involuntarily. Hearing his words, Fina turned her head curiously toward him.

”Indeed, this is a relic of the Goddess... Do you not think so, Mr. Fang Zheng?”

”No, this...”

At Fina’s inquiry, Fang Zheng didn’t know how to respond. He glanced at Fina, then looked out the window... If it weren’t for the blank expression on Fina’s face, as if he’d asked something as foolish as ”Won’t people die if they don’t breathe air?” he would have even doubted whether this Cleric Maiden was deliberately teasing him.

Are you really sure this is a relic of the Goddess and not of an Evil God?

Fang Zheng, having traveled through many worlds, had seen various forms of religion and civilization, like the headquarters of the Cultists in Dark World, the grand and dilapidated cities in Black Soul World, and the majestic and elegant Star Spirits that exude an imposing presence at first glance. In general, these things all have their own distinct features, but they still fall within the range of human aesthetics that Fang Zheng can accept.

But this... does not look like a relic of a Deity at all!

Like most man-made structures, this underground space was adorned with patterns and symbols on its exterior, which was not surprising. Even the ancient Mayans would decorate their Pyramids with such things. However, the issue lies with the patterns and symbols themselves!

Generally, the patterns drawn by a civilization have certain characteristics, and this so-called ”Goddess’s relic” is no exception. But that pattern... Sorry, Fang Zheng felt that, with his human aesthetic sense, he simply couldn’t accept it!

Although they were not ”indescribable” entities, the patterns depicted were extremely peculiar. Almost all the civilizations that Fang Zheng had encountered, whether good or evil, included straight lines in their designs.

But here, Fang Zheng saw not a single straight line; everything was ”~” shaped, curving like flowing water. Even the things that looked like supports were the same; moreover, the patterns on the walls were composed of ”~”, these curved lines, forming shapes like distorted dandelions.

Such things were everywhere, making Fang Zheng wonder if he had crossed over into a horror movie. Based on his experience, such imagery usually indicated a ritual for an Evil God or a Devil worship, right?

Is this a relic of the Goddess?

”This is indeed the symbol of the Goddess, Mr. Fang Zheng.”

Perhaps sensing Fang Zheng’s inner thoughts, Fina sternly faced him, speaking word for word.

”The Goddess signifies order, but any order should not be too rigid; a degree of flexibility is necessary. Too rigid, and it will break—that is the Goddess’s teaching. It’s just that ordinary people cannot understand the Goddess’s true intentions, and even inside the Sanctuary, there lies the Holy Emblem of the Goddess...”

Although what you’re saying makes sense, are you really sure this Goddess of Order isn’t some Evil God? Not to mention, with such a huge gap in aesthetics, how could we ever joyously play together?

Glancing again at the twisted lines filling the walls outside, Fang Zheng only felt his head spinning. He wasn’t sure if it was an illusion, but he felt as if under the illumination of the light, these lines seemed to flow like water, moving continuously... Okay, no matter how one looked at it, this was like setting up a flag for a horror film.

”Land the Javelin,”

By this point, Fang Zheng had no choice but to trust Lady Fina, and since Neptune had confirmed there was no threat, the investigation naturally had to continue.

Incidentally, while landing, Fang Zheng also used ”Concept Transmission” to inquire about the Javelin, Iona, and Nymph’s opinions on this place, only to find out that all three of them couldn’t see what was so beautiful about this thing...

Now, all Fang Zheng could hope was that this world wasn’t one where, in the end, you find out the God of Creation is the final boss— he had set up that plot twist too many times in games.

The Purification-Class Stealth Bomber landed as lightly as a bird on a platform at the bottom of the space, which rather than being made up of straight lines, was composed of circular shapes that resembled lotus leaves. Fang Zheng stepped off the warship, lifted his head, and looked forward. He could see a winding path stretching from the connection of the platform all the way to the other side...

Luckily, Fang Zheng wasn’t afflicted with obsessive-compulsive disorder, or he wouldn’t rest until he straightened out all of these things.

Speaking of which, Lady Goddess, you’re well aware that too much can be as bad as too little, so why still go for such eye-scorching architectural decorations! Should I recommend that you go back to Lanxiang to re-learn?

”Let’s go, Iona, Javelin, you cover the back, leave the front to me, and Nymph, Lady Fina, you walk in the middle,”

Among these people, the weakest in combat were Nymph and Lady Fina; naturally, Fang Zheng had to ensure their protection. Iona and Javelin were Mind Models; their bodies were, frankly, crafted from nanomaterials, and even if destroyed, they could be reconstructed as long as their cores were not damaged. Fang Zheng himself had even less to fear; if something went wrong, he could always use the Teleportation scroll and make a run for it to a designated world.

Not to mention, as a Time Dragon, he wasn’t that easy to kill.

Lady Fina had no objections to Fang Zheng’s arrangement. Miss Cleric was good in that she was obedient and sensible, never causing trouble for others. So, Fang Zheng quite liked carrying out missions with her, at least if anything went wrong, he didn’t have to worry she would, like many female characters in horror or science fiction films, be a hindrance.

For instance, being overly motherly wanting to save people and thus wasting time, or accidentally touching something that shouldn’t be touched releasing a monster, or because they couldn’t bear to see dinosaurs die and directly introduced them to the human world... Fang Zheng believed that such detrimental teammates had to be shot on sight, otherwise who knows who would end up dead.

”This place looks like a warehouse...”

While looking around, Fang Zheng muttered to himself. Aside from the eye-irritating decorations, everything else here felt very much like a warehouse for storing large items. Because the center of the space was almost entirely hollow, with only a few suspended platforms on the side, which clearly weren’t meant for sightseeing here underground (since there wasn’t much to look at below), it was obvious they were likely meant to connect with some kind of large machinery, in the same way, rocket platforms are.

But now, there was nothing here.

Was it always empty, or...

”Squeak squeak...”

Just as Fang Zheng was contemplating, suddenly, he caught a slight sound of metal scraping, and at that noise, he immediately stopped in his tracks, and then reached out to draw his Vampire Greatsword, vigilantly scanning the surroundings. At the same time, Javelin and Iona also positioned themselves protectively, one on each side of Lady Fina.

And at that moment, under Fang Zheng’s watchful gaze, the twisted patterns on the walls started to spin abruptly, followed by beams of light shooting out from them and enveloping everyone in their glow!

At this instant, Nymph’s eyes also shone with a dazzling light.

”I’m detecting a high-energy source response coming from below, Master!”
