Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 534: Chapter 533: The Construction of a Spiritual Civilization is Also Very Important!

After that, Fang Zheng watched the live broadcasts with great interest all day long and finally understood what these little guys were thinking.

According to Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, human needs can be divided into five levels, from the lowest to the highest: physiological, safety, love and belonging, esteem, and self-actualization.

In the Pitch Black World before, these Cursed Children couldn’t even satisfy the most basic physiological and safety needs, so naturally, they had no time to consider anything else. However, after arriving at the Heavenly Dao Palace, these Cursed Children could eat well, dress warmly, and after being modified, they didn’t have to worry about turning into Intestinal Creatures. No one here discriminated against them, and they had many companions.

Therefore, it could be said that out of the five conditions of Maslow’s needs hierarchy, they had already met four, with only self-actualization remaining. Of course, for these children, the most important thing at the moment is still to learn and live, not to work. But even so, they also need to engage in actions that can prove their value.

Of course, this doesn’t mean that every Cursed Child has to save the world or fight a life-and-death battle with a phase five Intestinal Creature. In fact, it is quite similar to school club activities. As long as these Cursed Children feel that what they are doing is not in vain and that there are results, then that is the best reward.

After closely watching these broadcasts, Fang Zheng found that these little rascals seemed just like the original streamers in his world, broadcasting things they liked wholeheartedly based on their interests and enthusiasm. For instance, Nobiru liked to stream adventure and exploration programs similar to ”National Geographic,” which was somewhat related to her lively personality and fondness for running around everywhere.

In contrast, Natsuse seemed much more composed. In fact, what she broadcast had little entertainment value. To Fang Zheng, Natsuse’s program was less like a show and more like news. Basically, she reported on internal affairs of the Heavenly Dao Palace, such as new regulations issued in the three schools, complaints against a certain school’s club for noise pollution, and warnings to curious Cursed Children to stay away from the core areas.

As for Tina’s program, it really surprised Fang Zheng. Because of the owl factor in her body, Tina usually slept during the day and broadcast at night, and her program was.... ghost stories!!

Fang Zheng didn’t know where this little girl found the energy to collect so many ghost stories, but she would start non-stop storytelling past midnight. The stories varied widely, from haunted Western Mansions and villas on the Main Continent to mysterious disappearing taxis and subways leading to Hell in the Pitch Black World—she narrated them with relish.

If one were to say that Aohara Enju was a qualified outdoor broadcaster, then Senju Natsuyo would be more like a news anchor or spokesperson, and Tina would be more like a late-night radio host...

”It seems we really need to prioritize the development of spiritual civilization,” Fang Zheng thought.

Maybe due to the restrictions from Nymph, Fang Zheng noticed that there were only these three broadcasting in the channel after watching for a day. Fumie Busei didn’t have her ”solo act,” but Fang Zheng could understand that, for a cat-eared loli like her, facing thousands of people to talk was really asking too much of her.

Besides that, there wasn’t much other content in the entire channel. Others seemed not to care, basically just using their free time to chat on forums and post messages.

Although these little girls seemed to be enjoying themselves, Fang Zheng was well aware that it was a dereliction of his duty; otherwise, they wouldn’t have to ”fend for themselves.”

But he couldn’t blame himself. To be honest, he had been busy dealing with the Sanctuary and had gone off to have fun in the Northlands for a while. He had no time to care about these minor matters, but now, Fang Zheng felt it might be time to bring the development of spiritual civilization in the Heavenly Dao Palace onto the agenda.

After all, the kind of thing driven by pure interest doesn’t last long. Fang Zheng didn’t believe that someone like Nobiru could keep it up indefinitely; it was very possible she might not last even half a month. And from the look of these messages, the Cursed Children obviously liked their programs very much, and there were even people who wanted to apply to start their own live broadcasts.

Unfortunately, he didn’t have any usable media talents at hand.

Fang Zheng sighed. Media was both important and unimportant, but it was something that could not be ignored. Therefore, control over media channels and rights had to be firmly in his own hands, which meant that only those whom Fang Zheng truly trusted, or those who would never question any of his commands, were qualified to be the main person in charge of the media department.

What was more important was that this person had to know how to control others’ emotions and learn to guide public opinion; finding such talent was not easy. Currently, the ones most suited for this position under Fang Zheng were either Tilia or Black Katie, but the former was already swamped with managing the internal affairs of the Heavenly Dao Palace, to the extent that it had been a long time since she last initiated a ”night raid” on Fang Zheng. For the sake of Tilia’s and his own happiness, Fang Zheng had no intention of adding any more burdens to her plate.

As for Black Katie... hmm, the Grand Priestess didn’t seem to like the idea of being in the limelight either.

Of course, in Fang Zheng’s opinion, the best option would actually be to create an AI, as this would ensure control at all times and eliminate concerns about the AI doing things beyond his grasp. However, to his frustration, Fang Zheng had only encountered complete AI technology in The Matrix of Hackers world, and, due to various reasons, he hadn’t acquired it.

Although logically speaking, Nymph, who specialized in electronic warfare, should have been quite capable of creating an AI, to Fang Zheng’s surprise, Nymph indicated that they, the Omnipotent Angels, were not allowed to create electronic intelligent life. This was core restriction similar to their own version of the ”Three Laws of Robotics,” and it was immutable.

This puzzled Fang Zheng, because the restriction seemed illogical. To say it was to prevent Artificial Angels from having creative thinking clearly didn’t make sense. The Little Angel displayed an extraordinary talent for Alchemy, and she had shown the ability to think and create independently on all levels. If it weren’t for the physical quality limitations of the Omnipotent Angels, the Little Angel probably wouldn’t have any problems becoming a Mage either.

But why did the Little Angel have zero authority when it came to creating artificial AI?

To this, Nymph herself couldn’t provide a clear answer, but she indeed was unable to conduct research in this area, so it seemed that Fang Zheng had no choice but to give up on the idea for now.

Although one could opt to bring a few artificial AIs back from other worlds—for example, many of the novels Fang Zheng read suggested taking the Red Empress from the world of Resident Evil—he always felt somewhat anxious about it. After all, the AI from another world would be someone else’s creation, and without understanding the core codes and operating logic, they could be a death trap.

You see, like the employees in the underground base of the Umbrella Corporation in the Resident Evil movies, they knew Red Empress’s orders were, ”Protect company staff from harm,” but they never anticipated what kind of ”protection” it would entail...

Fang Zheng was definitely not keen on this kind of AI that could potentially harm his own people and still believe that its actions were logical and totally justified.

But to create one himself... hmm, maybe he could give it a try?

Although Fang Zheng had previously been just someone who wrote plans and coded, and his understanding of artificial intelligence wasn’t very extensive, the current Fang Zheng, with the Physical Quality of a Time Dragon, had a learning capability that was incomparable to that of ordinary people. Not to mention, he had also collected a lot of scientific and technological materials from various worlds, including research on artificial intelligence. Perhaps he could use these as a foundation for systematic study... At least for now, there were no crises in this world, and he had mostly finished what he needed to do. Apart from idly waiting for the instance world to open next month, what else was there to do, right?

With this in mind, Fang Zheng quickly made a decision.

With nothing to do during this period, why not hit the books and power up? ”Study hard and ascend every day” indeed!
