Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 509: Chapter 508: The Secret Hidden Beneath the Tip of the Iceberg (Part 3)

The dizziness from teleportation vanished in an instant.

When Fang Zheng opened his eyes again, he was no longer in the dark, gloomy underground tunnel but on a snowy plain engulfed in a blizzard. Not far away, he could see a huge complex of buildings buried under the snow. Although the vast majority of the structure was hidden under layers of snow, from the exposed parts, it still somewhat resembled a majestic palace.

”Boom! Boom! Boom!!”

Explosions rumbling like thunder echoed through the storm, even causing the surrounding snow to shake and fall. Fang Zheng looked up and saw the Giant of Light in the midst of the compounds, battling a horde of Chaos Monsters.

Although he did not know what history and splendor this complex had witnessed, it now clearly had become a nest for these Chaos Monsters, with various types of demon creatures pouring out of the buildings’ gates, frenziedly attacking their enemy.

But the Giant of Light was obviously not so easy to handle, as it raised its hand, and then Fang Zheng saw triangular beams of light whistling out from the seams of the Giant’s armor, like searchlights shining towards the ground. The Chaos Monsters hit by these beams would transform into corpses in the blink of an eye, like insects sprayed with insecticide.

”Thump! Thump!”

It could be said that the Giant of Light had an overwhelming advantage against these Chaos Monsters. Most of them died immediately upon being touched by the light from its body, while those who fortuitously evaded would be directly crushed into pieces. It was clear that the Giant of Light dominated the battlefield, turning these Chaos Monsters into mere chickens and dogs, incapable of standing a single blow.

”Nymph, can you analyze the beams it is shooting out?”

Watching the Giant of Light fighting Chaos Monsters in the distance, Fang Zheng quickly looked toward the Little Angel nearby. The Little Angel nodded, then raised her hand and reached forward. Soon, Fang Zheng could see faint rays of light shooting from the tips of the Little Angel’s fingers, extending along the ground toward the distant battlefield.

”There’s strong interference here; my analysis might take some time...”

”I know.”

Looking around, even without Nymph’s warning, Fang Zheng could feel the Chaos Aura mixed within the snowstorm. Although he could still bear it, staying in this environment for a long time was clearly not the right choice.

”Iona, Javelin, bring some Coordinators and Tanji here for support immediately. We need to set up a structural base here as soon as possible! Also, notify Knight Commander Wells that we have found the Guardian of the Goddess and ask them to come support us as quickly as possible.”

”Yes, Captain.”

”Received, Commander.”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s orders, Iona and Javelin exchanged glances, then nodded. As the Mind Models of the Warship of Sea Mist, they could naturally manipulate their ship from a distance, so even though they were far from their base, it was not a problem for the two.

Soon, Iona responded.

”Commander, support will arrive in ten minutes.”

”I know,” said Fang Zheng, nodding. He then looked up again, focusing on the distant battlefield. By now, the number of Chaos Monsters had grown, and the Giant of Light, like having disturbed a hornet’s nest, was surrounded by countless Chaos Monsters. However, it did not cower; instead, it resolutely fought these Chaos Creatures to the end.

Although the Giant of Light had a clear advantage at the moment, Fang Zheng grew increasingly anxious. He realized his guess might be correct — that the Giant of Light was not a living creature but a rigid automated defense mechanism.

From the environmental conditions at the scene, the Giant of Light could clearly have retreated and then formed an impenetrable defense at a narrower pass behind him, but it insisted on standing in the middle of the square, fighting the Chaos Monsters coming from all directions, even from above. Furthermore, after clearing a batch of monsters, it would immediately turn to destroy other monsters in different places. Not only that, Fang Zheng also noticed that the Giant of Light seemed to be consistently avoiding damaging the buildings, even though sometimes the monsters could have been stopped by just destroying the architecture.

Moreover, the movements of the Giant of Light were very rigid, lacking the fluidity that a living being should possess. With all these points considered, it was evident that the Giant of Light did not have its own will.

So, how was it activated?

”Boom!!”

Just as Fang Zheng was pondering, suddenly, the ground beneath the Giant of Light cracked open, and its massive body fell into the crevasse. Following closely, a Chaos Monster, almost as large as the Giant of Light and resembling a spider, roared as it emerged from the hole, wrapping its limbs tightly around the Giant. Then, spider silk shot from the Chaos Monster’s mouth, binding the Giant of Light like chains.

”———!!”

But in the face of the spider silk that bound him, the Giant of Light was utterly unmoved. Fang Zheng watched as its right hand suddenly elongated, transforming into the shape of a gargantuan longsword. Then, the Giant of Light’s upper body spun around abruptly, chopping the massive Spider Lord along with its spider silk in two.

The enormous Spider Lord, however, did not give up; it frantically waved its forelegs, clamping its mouth firmly onto the Giant of Light’s armor, and began tearing fiercely.

While the Giant of Light was restrained by the Spider Lord, other Chaos Monsters also rushed forward, attempting to completely crush their foe. Under the assault of the Chaos Monsters, the Giant of Light seemed to falter as its huge body swayed left and right amidst the holes it had created.

Yet soon, the Giant of Light steadied itself again. Its head whipped around abruptly, and Fang Zheng then saw a series of runes flash across the helmet of the Giant of Light. Following this, accompanied by a loud explosion, a blinding radiance erupted from the center of the Giant of Light, engulfing both the Spider Lord and the Chaos Monsters.

”Boom————!

Blinding white light shot towards them, making Fang Zheng and the others reflexively raise their hands to shield their faces. When the glow had dissipated, they saw nothing but scorched earth around the Giant of Light, and as for those Chaos Monsters, none were left.

”Creak———”

This ”self-detonation” skill of the Giant of Light seemed to have also inflicted substantial damage upon itself. Fang Zheng could see the radiance connecting the limbs of the Giant of Light dim considerably, as it wobbled and slowly climbed out of the cavity, then turned and walked slowly toward where Fang Zheng and the others stood.

”—————”

But after only a few steps, the Giant of Light stopped again and raised its head to look at the sky. Simultaneously, Fang Zheng and Fina’s expressions changed, and they looked up as well.

”Woo...!”

A deep, mournful sound, akin to an animal’s lament, emanated from the clouds, which then began to swirl as if merging with some entity. Soon after, a massive octopus, as large as Rodney, appeared within the clouds, waving its tentacles.

Its twin golden eyes fixed on the Giant of Light, glowing like two moons suspended in the air. The Giant of Light, sensing the formidable presence of the Chaos Lord before it, once again raised its hands, morphing them into lightsabers, ready for battle.

”Flying without wings? Is this octopus even possible?”

Seeing the octopus undulating in the sea of clouds took Fang Zheng by surprise. Compared to the giant gorilla and Moth Lord he had seen before, this Octopus Lord seemed even more formidable—not least because of its sheer size.

The Octopus Lord again opened its mouth and roared at the Giant of Light. Simultaneously, numerous thick tentacles soared out from the clouds and attacked the enemy.

And facing the tentacles lunging towards it, the Giant of Light did not hesitate; it brandished its lightsaber and swiftly severed those tentacles. But the octopus’s tentacles seemed endless, and as soon as the Giant of Light’s lightsaber fell, more tentacles burst out, continuing their assault on the enemy.

”Master, I’ve completed the analysis!”

At that moment, Nymph spoke up.

”This is a very special form of energy, but quite regular. If we can obtain the core from inside the Giant of Light, I am confident that I can conduct further analysis!”

”Oh?”

Hearing Nymph’s response, Fang Zheng perked up. But just then, suddenly, the situation dramatically changed!

Perhaps due to the excessive energy expended in the previous fights, the reaction of the Giant of Light slowed down. At the same time, the Octopus Lord’s tentacles finally ensnared the Giant of Light tightly!

Despite the Giant of Light’s frantic struggles, the Octopus clearly had the upper hand. As its tentacles gradually tightened, Fang Zheng saw the Giant of Light’s resistance increasingly suppressed. Meanwhile, the Octopus began slowly lifting the humongous Giant of Light, seemingly planning to carry it into the clouds to devour...

”———————!!”

Just at that moment, suddenly, accompanied by dazzling radiance flashing, numerous light beams roared through the sky, striking the Octopus Lord’s body heavily!

Simultaneously, in the distance, the silhouette of a warship gradually emerged.

The Warship of Sea Mist had finally entered the battle.
