Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 526: Chapter 525 This brainstorm even amazes me! (Part 1)

When Fang Zheng followed James to the Hong Kong Base, the entire base was already on high alert. Even though they were psychologically prepared, the sight of the Giant Dragon blotting out the sky still made them shiver uncontrollably with fear.

Fang Zheng neither subdued his Dragon Might nor chose to transform into a human. Being human himself, he was well aware of human psychology and thoughts. Indeed, if he could turn into a human, perhaps he could generate a sense of closeness with the people of this world. It’s just like how many people would shiver with fear at the sight of a Giant Dragon, but would only cry out ”adorable” if that Giant Dragon turned into a cute little girl. Even though the essence would be the same, differences would arise because of the outward appearance.

For this reason, Fang Zheng refrained from turning back into human form to communicate with them, because this would only increase humans’ sense of affinity towards him, thereby fostering a sense of equality. They would subconsciously think ”Since he can turn into a human, that means we can understand each other,” which would lead them to overreach themselves on this basis, or even deceive him or dismiss his words... ah, the intrinsic flaws of humanity, as a human, Fang Zheng understood all too well.

On the contrary, by maintaining his Giant Dragon form, even if these people were reluctant, they had to recognize that they were faced with a powerful, noble, ancient Giant Dragon. They had to treat the Giant Dragon with the utmost courtesy and not to offend its dignity and glory arbitrarily.

”Welcome to this place, respected Earth Guardian,”

Looking at the Giant Dragon lying on the tarmac, Commander Pandacos approached. He had intended to puff out his chest and hold his head high to show some human pride. But as he drew near to Fang Zheng, just the Dragon Might that radiated from him was enough to make Pandacos tremble. If he hadn’t clenched his teeth and forced himself to stay spirited, he probably would have already collapsed on the ground, quaking in fear.

”I am the Commander of this base, Pandacos...”

”I have no interest in your names, mortals,”

However, before Pandacos could finish, he was coldly interrupted by Fang Zheng.

”Whatever your name is, whether King or Lord, it’s all the same to me. In the end, you all will die and become nourishment for this land. I am here just to pass the time. Since you are so arrogantly convinced that you can save everything, I don’t mind wasting a little bit of time to watch your futile resistance. It probably won’t be long before I witness your destruction... I think it will be a memory worth savoring.”

”......”

Hearing the Giant Dragon speak, everyone was left speechless, is there anything left to say after you’ve already talked the sky to death?

At this moment, Commander Pandacos was pale, clearly having never experienced such a feeling before. For a while, the scene seemed a bit awkward. However, Fang Zheng didn’t care about these trivial matters. He narrowed his eyes as if dozing off, appearing to have no intention of paying any more attention to the humans in front of him.

Fang Zheng certainly understood why the atmosphere had become like this. It was no longer like it had been a few hundred years ago; if he had appeared before humans a few hundred to a thousand years ago, they would have bowed their heads respectfully. Even Kings and Popes with supreme authority would humbly request his protection. Because back then, humans were weak, ignorant, and powerless. They could not withstand natural disasters, nor could they fend off pandemics or the invading armies from outside their territories.

But now, it was different. They already possessed powerful strength and considered themselves capable of changing the world. They also saw themselves as the rulers of Earth. Therefore, when humans faced a creature that was clearly superior to themselves and which made it plainly clear that they considered humans insignificant, they would not kneel down like their ancestors to beg for his protection and assistance.

They would not offer beautiful young girls as gifts to him.

And indeed, Fang Zheng’s guess was correct.

”That damned overgrown lizard!”

As he entered the base, Pandacos’s face was as dark as a pot lid.

”Who does it think it is? We are the masters of this world! We’ve defeated so many Blossom Beasts! Where was it then? And now, it dares to speak to us like that?!”

”Commander, I advise you to be careful what you say!”

Hearing Pandacos’s complaint, James went pale. On his way back, he had received news that another Dragon, Muto, rampaging in America had been completely charred by a group of Fire Dragons, then sprinkled with cumin and chili powder and devoured in front of all Americans.

”That is a Giant Dragon, it could have been alive for thousands of years, perhaps we can gain some historical knowledge or even wisdom that we are unaware of from it...”

”So what do you want me to do?”

Hearing James’s words, Pandacos was even more infuriated.

”Are you suggesting, like in those magic stories, that I offer a girl to the Giant Dragon as a tribute?”

”Of course, that’s not what I mean.”

James waved his hand, knowing that wasn’t likely. Fortunately, the Giant Dragon had not demanded any tribute... otherwise, James really wouldn’t know what to do.

”I just hope you don’t show any hostility towards it. It’s a Giant Dragon, not a human. It might squash you into a meat patty on a whim... Also, we have already contacted leaders from various countries, and it won’t be long before they send people here. At the very least, we need to figure out what all this is about! I think, since the Giant Dragon was willing to follow us here, it should be willing to provide some information for us.”

Indeed, this was James’s primary objective. He did not immediately hope that the Giant Dragon would become their ally, but in James’s view, perhaps they could obtain some intelligence from the Giant Dragon! After all, the dragon must be very old, and the events it had experienced were definitely more reliable than the conjectures made by historians from mere ruins!

If they could get some secret messages about this world, that would be enough!

It must be acknowledged that although Pandacos looked down on the Giant Dragon, various countries took Fang Zheng very seriously. Within mere an hour, representatives from the high ranks of various countries had been sent to the Hong Kong Base, including not only high-profile officials but also some scholars. These included archaeologists, historians, and even experts in the study of the occult...

When everyone had arrived, they were led by James to the helipad in front of the base. After witnessing the Giant Dragon with their own eyes, everyone was profoundly shocked. Although they had already seen information about the Giant Dragon from various images, when they personally witnessed, and experienced the terrifying Dragon Might, they couldn’t help but shiver.

”Hmm...?”

At this moment, Fang Zheng, of course, also felt the arrival of those people. Opening his eyes, he lifted his head to look at the delegation in front of him. Feeling Fang Zheng’s gaze, many of them had their legs go weak, and even an old scholar fainted on the spot with a groan, perhaps due to overexcitement or because he couldn’t bear the oppressive might of the dragon!

”Whoosh!”

Seeing the old man faint, the soldiers who were already tense immediately raised their guns, aiming them at Fang Zheng. Watching this unfold, Fang Zheng let out a cold huff.

”Hmph——!”

People only felt that this sound exploded in their heads like muffled thunder, leaving everyone’s minds dizzy and hazy, and the soldiers even collapsed to the ground, rolling their eyes like idiots, unresponsive.

”Remember your places, pathetic mortals! Who gave you the courage to raise arms against me? If you do not know how to treat a Giant Dragon, then I do not mind teaching you with fire and destruction!”

”Yes, sorry, great Giant Dragon!”

At that moment, James also came to his senses. He scrambled on all fours to Fang Zheng’s front, his face pale.

”It was not intentional, please forgive them! ...Hurry, get all the soldiers out of here! Quick!!”

Under James’s near-frantic roar, the soldiers who had been on guard quickly retreated, and only then did Fang Zheng withdrew his gaze.

”All right, you have disturbed my rest, what is it that you want? If it’s for some trivial reason, then I don’t mind having you as a bedtime snack.”

”It’s like this...”

Hearing Fang Zheng speak, James was sweating profusely. He instinctively stepped back a few paces, then gathered his courage, lifting his head to look at Fang Zheng. NovelFire.Côm-cσ๓

”We, we hope to acquire some intelligence from you. After all, we do not understand these creatures well. If we could grasp why they appear here, why they attack humans, perhaps... we might find a way to cope with them...”

Excellent.

Facing James’s inquiry, Fang Zheng smirked inwardly. He was already planning to put on a show, and this fellow was playing right into his hands!

Privately commending the other party in his heart, Fang Zheng once again lazily lay back down on the ground.

”Self-conceited fools, utterly pointless, humans... You are walking towards your doom, yet you are completely unaware of it, ignorant and arrogant, such is humanity. I have no sympathy for you, nor do I care about your opinions...”

”What, what did you say?”

At these words, everyone was greatly taken aback.

”We... are walking towards doom? Great Earth Guardian, what on earth does this mean?”

Faced with James’s again anxious question, Fang Zheng smirked slightly.

”Are you truly certain that you want to know the truth of this world? Are you truly prepared to accept it all? You are but the ashes of a bygone fire... and even so, do you wish to throw yourselves into the midst of it?”
