Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 518: Chapter 517: The Special Power of Monster World

After occupying Skull Island, Fang Zheng and the Zerg he brought with him were busily engaged in construction work. At the same time, he and Lulana began to conduct research on the creatures of the island.

It was not until then that Fang Zheng discovered that King Kong was not the only freak of nature on Skull Island; in fact, there were all sorts of giant animals, such as octopuses over thirty meters long, water buffalos taller than a double-decker bus, and spiders with legs long enough to stretch over an entire bamboo forest...... This puzzled Fang Zheng, who did not know what to make of these animals. Fortunately, as the pinnacle of a biological civilization, Lulana was able to come to a conclusion after studying these creatures.

”So, what you’re saying is...... that these guys are so huge because of a special kind of cellular structure?”

”Yes.”

Faced with Fang Zheng’s question, Lulana nodded, while Fang Zheng stroked his chin and then furrowed his brow.

”But if you put it that way, just how special is it? I remember that the Swarm itself also has units like the Thunder Beast, Leviathan, and Behemoth, don’t they?”

”That’s different, Master.”

Lulana quickly shook her head and then began to explain to Fang Zheng.

”These are the results of the Swarm absorbing original creatures and then transforming them. That is, their size is so large because they were originally that big, so their genetic structure is also unique and cannot be replicated. But this cellular structure is different; it can secrete a special hormone to maintain other tissue structures to avoid issues that might arise due to gigantism.”

”So you mean to say that as long as this cell fluid is absorbed, any creature can become big?”

Hearing this, Fang Zheng finally understood Lulana’s point. It was like whales, naturally so large, but that did not mean humans could also become that large. In fact, turning a human into the size of a whale was not as simple as enlarging all organs and cellular genes by several tens of times. There has been a balance in biological evolution until now; unless it was a genetic mutation, suddenly producing a giant forty or fifty meters tall would face major issues, not to mention the problem of atmospheric pressure alone.

Not to speak of the nutrients needed during the growth process...... Come to think of it, Fang Zheng estimated that only in this place could a freak like King Kong be raised; otherwise, in other places, one cow wouldn’t even be enough for a single gulp by King Kong.

And according to Lulana, this cellular structure would allow any creature to grow enormously large without any stress?

Could it be that this was the truth behind the emergence of so many giant monsters in this world?

Thinking this, the more Fang Zheng thought about it, the more he felt it was possible, for there were so many worlds, and he had only encountered giant monsters in the Pitch Black World and here, especially in this world. Even in the Pitch Black World, giant monsters only appeared as bosses, but here it was like a fashion show on the runway, one after another without a break......

”Actually, I do not recommend that you choose to supersize most of the Zerg units, Master. It would have a certain impact on the reproduction of the Swarm.”

”So you mean to say that if the body size increases, the reproduction rate goes down?”

Hearing this, Fang Zheng was stunned for a moment, but he quickly understood. It seemed that indeed, what the heavens give, they also take away; if these monsters were all as fertile as cockroaches while being incredibly strong, then Earth might have been devoid of humans long ago.

However, Fang Zheng was not content to just let such a find go without making use of it......

”Let’s do this.”

With that thought, Fang Zheng quickly made a decision.

”Let’s experiment on the Flying Dragon first and see what the effects are.”

Ever since he had ”beautified” the Zerg’s Flying Dragon into the form of the Fire Dragon Empire’s dragon, Fang Zheng had been eager to form a Giant Dragon Legion......

New York, headquarters of the Emperor Organization.

”Mr. James!”

”What’s the matter?”

Upon hearing the voice of his subordinate, James looked up from his computer and towards the young man before him. The young man extended his hand nervously, passing a report to James.

”We’ve received a message from our Vietnam branch. A few days ago, there were tremors in the direction of Skull Island...”

”Oh?”

Upon hearing this, James’s expression shifted slightly, and he quickly reached out to grab the report and began to read it, his expression becoming increasingly serious.

”...Has anyone been sent to check out what happened?”

”I don’t know, Mr. James. You’re well aware that the island is always shrouded in storms, making it very difficult for us to get in...”

”Assemble a team immediately; I want to lead them to Skull Island myself!”

After dropping this statement, James began to hurriedly pack his belongings. Witnessing this, the young man was visibly shocked.

”But it’s dangerous, Mr. James. Now is not the optimal time for us to enter Skull Island, and also, the President...”

”I’ll explain things to the President. You just get ready,” James said, cutting off the young man’s remarks.

James looked again at the satellite image before him. Few people knew that James had visited Skull Island decades ago and had even encountered King Kong. James’s interest in that creature exceeded the ordinary, which is why, after leaving Skull Island, he joined the Emperor Organization.

But now... there was a problem on Skull Island, and James felt that he had to go and see for himself no matter what.

”Knock knock knock!”

Just then, the sound of knocking abruptly started again. James looked up toward the door to see the same young man who had left before walking back in. James frowned in displeasure at his reappearance.

”What is it now? Is there something else?”

”Mr. James! There’s news from Japan, Muto has awakened! It has left the base, and its current whereabouts are unknown!”

”What?”

Upon receiving this news, James felt overwhelmed.

Since the founding of the Emperor Organization, their work had always revolved around prehistoric monsters—precisely speaking, those similiar to Godzilla. And twenty-five years ago, a mining company in the Philippines uncovered what appeared to be ancient remains of a Godzilla-like creature. There, the Emperor Organization found evidence of another prehistoric life form. Soon after that, the creature attacked a nuclear power station in Japan, absorbing radiation from the reactor to replenish its strength.

This triggered a major disaster, and to conceal the fact, the Emperor Organization claimed it was a nuclear leak, turning the area into a restricted zone. They also deployed a large array of facilities and personnel to monitor and study this species that absorbed nuclear radiation, which the Emperor Organization named ”Muto.”

But now... the most unimaginable scenario for James had occurred.

”Those idiots, didn’t they take any emergency measures?”

Upon hearing the report, James forcefully punched the table. To be honest, ever since they found Muto’s location, James had strongly insisted that the creature be destroyed. In his view, this species was not as friendly as King Kong and was full of danger. However, the organization ultimately decided to capture Muto alive for research since a live prehistoric monster, especially one not yet fully hatched, was an extremely valuable research subject.

Of course, to be cautious, they had also designed emergency measures in case Muto got out of control, wherein it would be killed immediately. But now it seemed... these fools had clearly botched it!

”Mr. James, we’ve been ordered by the higher-ups to head out immediately...”

”I know.”

Looking at the satellite cloud map in his hands, James hesitated for a moment, then sighed and tossed the report aside, picking up his bag.

”We leave now!!”
