Chapter 512: Chapter 511: The Zerg’s Monster King

The Zerg World on Ironblood remained as it had always been, yet Fang Zheng said that having become accustomed to it, he could accept it. Although the scenery of Another World was indeed beautiful, for Fang Zheng, he wasn’t there just to unwind and travel.

”Mirune, how is the task I asked you to do coming along?”

Having found Mirune, Fang Zheng immediately inquired. Before heading to the Northlands, Fang Zheng had issued an order to Mirune for a contingency plan, requesting her to rally the current Zerg forces to create a powerful heavy aerial unit.

The reason Fang Zheng did this was naturally for future forays into Monster World. If he really entered Godzilla’s world, then each Godzilla towering at eighty to a hundred meters high was simply undefeatable. Although the Zerg had units like the Thunder Beast for heavy ground combat, they lacked the equivalent rank in heavy aerial units.

Among the Zerg, the largest heavy aerial unit naturally was the Leviathan, but in Fang Zheng’s eyes, the Leviathan was to be used as a trump card. And since it was a trump card, it couldn’t be just thrown out carelessly. However, apart from that, the largest Zerg unit was the King Worm, and as for the King Worm’s attack power well...

Let’s talk about the Machine Gunners instead.

Considering his target was Godzilla, Fang Zheng also based his requirements for Mirune on Godzilla’s data.

First and foremost, size mattered. In Fang Zheng’s memory, Godzillas stood about 80 to 100 meters tall, which meant most Zerg units were like kittens or puppies in front of it.

Besides, Godzilla could also swim in the deep sea, which posed another trial for the Zerg. At the very least, Fang Zheng didn’t know how many of his Zerg could operate in water, so he demanded that besides the gigantic size, the unit should at least be capable of moving agilely in both water and air.

Of course, considering the immense strength of Godzilla, protective abilities were also essential.

To be honest, Fang Zheng had no clue what Mirune would end up creating to meet his specifications, but he didn’t care. After all, he was a planner before Rebirth, and for Fang Zheng, it was his job to set the requirements, how to fulfill them was the business of the developers below.

Like saying ”this female character must incite players to want to lift her skirt” or ”set up a critical hit prompt that makes players feel really good about themselves” and so on. As long as he gave the instructions, if they couldn’t be met, then start over. The planner just needs to plan, how it’s executed is the responsibility of the programmers and artists. If they couldn’t even do that, why should he pay them?

Of course, sometimes things would just be canceled... but this was common, wasn’t it? When parts laboriously created by the programming team at late nights were discarded, don’t be discouraged, just try harder next time. You aren’t left with nothing, after all, you still have your lives, right?

After all, Fang Zheng wasn’t a Devil.

But when Fang Zheng saw the new Zerg unit, he was startled.

Not because the unit was too ugly, on the contrary, it was because it was too beautiful!

The Zerg unit before him resembled a massive hybrid of a dolphin and a Plesiosaur in appearance, with the body showing the streamlined form of a dolphin, while the neck and head were slightly elongated, akin to a Dragon’s shape.

Besides that, on the sides of the Zerg unit’s body were not the common Zerg claws and teeth, but something like oversized fin-like wings. However, what was most eye-catching was its long tail and, at the end of the tail, a translucent fin that looked like a crescent moon Scimitar.

In terms of height, the Creature was almost ninety meters long not including the tail, and its tail was roughly the same length as its body, which at least superficially seemed to measure up against most Godzillas in size.

”Did you create this?”

This greatly surprised Fang Zheng, for one reason alone, and that was because the thing was too consistent with human aesthetics. Setting aside its utility, the first reaction of humans upon seeing this Dragon Race would definitely not be to immediately take up arms. After all, this Monster appeared too ”gentle and friendly” in form and didn’t at all resemble the ferocious nature of creatures like Godzilla.

Such a creation certainly wouldn’t be Mirune’s work, for she had a purely Zerg mindset, focusing on function over form. Although Lunala was also an ”artist,” that Zerg aesthetic... Fang Zheng really thought it better off absent.

”I created it,”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s question, Mirune nodded, then calmly added,

”The Parasites you brought also offered quite a few suggestions.”

”Parasites? Oh... I see.”

It was then that Fang Zheng noticed, not far from the Swarm structure, a group of ”Swarm girls” watching him anxiously. They were the Cursed Children who had become personified as part of the Swarm due to an infestation rate exceeding fifty percent. They seemed to be doing quite well here?

”No wonder I thought this thing was steeped in a fantastical, fairy-tale vibe.”

Fang Zheng finally understood that unlike other Zerg units, this new Zerg unit, although also red, wasn’t the dim red of meaty chunks typical of the Zerg. Instead, it had a dreamlike, semi-transparent red appearance.

From a distance, the Zerg unit appeared like a mirage from a desert city, an illusory figure rather than a real existence.

It looked more like a fairy tale creature than a Zerg killing machine.

However, the sharp bone spurs intermixed with the fins, looking like blades, still revealed that this creature was clearly not as harmless as it appeared.

According to Mirune’s introduction, this was a pure melee combat unit. It lacked ranged attack capabilities, but in return, it possessed armor as thick as that of a Thunder Beast, and those ”fins” on its body were sharp bone spurs and blades.

When it attacked an enemy, it would charge at them with the speed of a battering ram, colliding directly into their bodies, then open its mouth to tear at them. At the same time, it would whip its tail around like a snake, tightly coiling around the opponent’s body, and then use its fin-sharp blades to slice open multiple gashes.

Of course, most fragile enemies were torn to pieces at this stage. If, by chance, they did not die, what awaited the enemies next would be its fatal bites and strikes. Any negligence in the melee would lead to the deadliest of sneak attacks—this Zerg unit had also integrated Alien genes, so it also possessed the design of Inner Nest Fangs. If the enemies were careless, then a blow to the head would be their only outcome.

The movement of this Swarm unit relied entirely on psionic power. Since Mirune had designed it to adapt to air and water, it lacked the ability to engage in ground combat, but that was already enough for Fang Zheng. He had intended to leave the ground combat to the Thunder Beast, and as things stood, this Swarm unit was sufficient for Fang Zheng’s needs for visiting Godzilla World.

What remained was...

”Hmm... it should be given a name...”

At this thought, Fang Zheng raised his head and looked toward the girls in the distance, waving his hand at them. Seeing Fang Zheng’s gesture, the girls glanced at each other, and then the Hydralisk girl who had previously spoken with Fang Zheng tentatively approached him.

”Do you have any orders, Lord Fang Zheng?”

”Mirune mentioned that you also contributed to the creation of this unit?”

”We... we just made some minor suggestions...”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s question, the Hydralisk girl couldn’t help but become somewhat flustered, but seeing her slightly nervous expression, Fang Zheng smiled gently.

”Don’t be nervous, I’m not blaming you. On the contrary, I really like it. Thank you for your help. If Mirune had done this alone, who knows what would have happened.”

Fang Zheng’s comments weren’t just flattery. To be honest, if Mirune were to fully complete the design of this unit on her own, it definitely would have become a terrifying monster no less dreadful than Godzilla...

Hearing Fang Zheng’s answer, the Hydralisk girl beamed with excitement. She turned and flashed a victory sign to her companions. The other girls hiding behind her, upon seeing the Hydralisk girl’s sign, also hugged each other happily and even let out small cheers. Fang Zheng watched all this with a smile and then spoke.

”Since this is a design by all of you, I’ll leave the naming rights to you... Have you thought of any good names for it?”

”Really?”

Hearing this, the Hydralisk girl’s eyes widened in surprise, as if she couldn’t believe what she’d heard, and Fang Zheng nodded in response.

”Of course. So, do you have any good suggestions?”

”We... we...”

As she spoke, the Hydralisk girl turned her head again, and Fang Zheng could sense that they were communicating through the Swarm Network for a moment. Then, the Hydralisk girl looked at him sheepishly.

”We did think of a name... Lord Fang Zheng.”

”Oh? What name?”

”Kraken...”

The Northern Sea Kraken?

Hearing the name, Fang Zheng narrowed his eyes, then cast a glance at the colossal creature floating in the sky.

”Very well, from today on, it shall be called the Kraken.”
