System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

”Come on, come on.” Ding Mou quickly invited.

Tong Yuan’an said, ”Brother Ding, let’s keep it civilized today. Xiao Lu has to compete tomorrow. You’ve already landed your jobs, so don’t make it hard for him...”

”Xiao Lu’s drinking ability, once knocked out two of me.”

Tong Yuan’an then introduced others to Lu Cheng.

Mainly from Xiangya Hospital, Associate Professor Han Yunshen, Associate Professor Xie Ziyuan, Hu Yi, Liu Xiaodong, attending physician Gu Yanlin, and three associate professors from Xiangya Second Hospital and Third Hospital.

After the introduction, Zhou Jian from Xiangya Third Hospital touched his big nose and said, ”Brother Jun, you should ask Xiao Lu about maintenance. People always say you’ve been to Africa for aid work, isn’t that so unfair?”

Huang Jun’s face couldn’t tell if it was dark or not, because his face and neck were really pitch black. If not for the faint hint of yellow skin, no one would doubt he was African.

Brother Jun was quite honest: ”Bro, how do you maintain yourself?”

Lu Cheng didn’t dare to stand on ceremony. Tong Yuan’an just introduced him; Huang Jun was currently the top associate in hand surgery at the Second Hospital: ”Teacher Huang, I don’t maintain myself, not to mention having any experience.”

Lu Cheng wanted to say Huang Jun looked very masculine, but he couldn’t get the words out.

”Brother Jun, it’s actually pretty good like this. If you’re walking at night and your wife bumps into you, she probably can’t recognize you. Isn’t it convenient for you to dodge to Western Liberation Street?” Wei Jianwen, associate professor from the Second Hospital, adjusted his thick eyebrows and laughed heartily.

Ding Mou, the serious-looking associate professor with a flat nose, joked, ”Brother Jun, to be honest, does your face attract a lot of attention when you’re out? Quite a few women like the relaxed look.”

”Brother Jun looks rather big.”

Huang Jun wouldn’t let the banter drop: ”Yeah, they’re all guys, we’ve used the bathroom together.”

Upon hearing this, Ding Mou’s face immediately turned serious again, the meat mole on his eyebrow kept twitching.

”Cough cough cough...” Tong Yuan’an coughed, covered his face, and turned his head coldly: ”Xiao Lu, I actually don’t know any of these people.”

Associate Professor Wei Jianwen from the Second Hospital called out: ”Xiao Lu, come on, come drink, drink! You’re from Long County, your drinking ability must be good.”

”You came late, you should drink more to refresh your palate.”

Ding Mou timely asked: ”Brother Wei, aren’t you going to accompany? Xiao Lu should be able to accompany you to your heart’s content today.”

”...”

Everyone was enthusiastic, but mostly focused the conversation on the topic of drinking.

After Lu Cheng was forced to drink three full beers, Zhou Jian, associate professor from Xiangya Third Hospital, touched his chin and casually asked, ”Brother Tong, what’s the deal with Xiao Lu coming here today?”

”Drinking,” Tong Yuan’an replied.

”Just drinking?” Zhou Jian’s expression instantly twisted, his tone a bit flighty.

Zhou Jian’s words caused many people’s faces to turn serious, with a half-smiling look, just waiting to see the excitement.

”What kind of explanation do you want then?” Tong Yuan’an countered casually.

Zhou Jian glanced at Lu Cheng and refrained from saying he didn’t deserve it: ”Brother Tong, it’s getting late, I’m heading back to rest. I have things to handle tomorrow.”

”Professor Zhou, you don’t have a competition tomorrow, where’s the thing?”

All three Xiangya hospitals have internally recommended match slots, no need to compete in provincial competitions.

But each hospital has limited slots, if you want more, you must compete.

”Bringing students. Unlike Brother Tong, you’re so carefreely,” Zhou Jian replied naturally.

Ding Mou hurriedly mediated: ”Xiao Lu, aren’t you going to toast Professor Zhou a few cups? Professor Zhou is bored, people might think we can’t afford wine.”

Lu Cheng thought for a moment, raised his glass: ”Teacher Zhou...I toast you.”

Zhou Jian raised his right hand to stop: ”Wait, don’t listen to Professor Ding’s spiel, he’s egging us on to drink and joke.”

”Since you know Professor Ding, you should toast him more, can’t leave your teacher out here.”

”Don’t toast me.”

Zhou Jian made it clear, he’s not Lu Cheng’s teacher, perhaps implying if not for Tong Yuan’an calling Lu Cheng here, he’d never get a chance to drink at this table.

”Teacher Zhou, everyone should be toasted.”

”I finished mine, you’re free, I should toast Teacher Ding too.” Just drinking beer, Lu Cheng could handle the amount.

Drinking ten or eight bottles only caused urgency for the restroom, not intoxication.

Zhou Jian didn’t directly embarrass Lu Cheng, although he didn’t finish a full glass, he drank half: ”We’ve had a round, can’t keep up with Dr. Lu’s capacity now.”

”One Brother Ding, one Brother Wei, they’re both good with drinks.” Zhou Jian politely redirected the issue, but his words carried implications.

Wei Jianwen from the Second Hospital immediately said: ”Xiao Lu, since you call Professor Ding as teacher, you should express lots.”

Wei Jianwen leaned back, lazily slouched down, showing no intention of raising his glass.

Ding Mou actively picked up his glass: ”Xiao Lu, let’s go for the last round, to be honest, I didn’t see you during my service in Long County.”

”I think my memory is quite good. Are you from the second ward?”

Lu Cheng poured while explaining: ”Teacher Ding, the month I came, you happened to leave. When I joined earlier, we had a meal together, Director Peng introduced you to me.”
