System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

At least, Zhou Bingxuan didn’t know that Director Du Qiang from General Surgery had such abilities, even if General Surgery also carried the banner of Vascular Surgery.

But it was just a nominal title.

”It wasn’t me, it was Lu Cheng from Emergency Department who did it.”

After Du Qiang finished speaking, he further explained, ”This person called from my relative, and I called in the people.”

Du Qiang’s explanation was quite by the book.

Lu Cheng’s kind of skill wouldn’t be easily displayed. It wasn’t something done casually for any patient coming in.

Blind procedures for hemostasis aren’t standard surgical operations in principle; it’s all a gamble.

Therefore, Lu Cheng wouldn’t initiate a surgery lightly.

Only when Du Qiang led the team did Lu Cheng come to help, being an assistant and not appearing on the surgical list.

Furthermore, even if such technology can’t be overtly used as a routine, it is indeed a life-saving technique when applied.

In emergencies with hemorrhagic circumstances among friends or relatives, once Lu Cheng is called upon, with life and death understood and accepted, Lu Cheng’s help might save a life.

In other words, such life-saving techniques are not for the masses but are specifically for very special situations, serving as an ’Anchor’.

Du Qiang’s words took Zhou Bingxuan a good minute to digest before he snapped out of it and left the operating room.

He didn’t ask why Du Qiang would call Lu Cheng, nor about any potential grudge between Lu Cheng and Du Qiang.

None of this was important. What mattered most now was that Du Qiang could call upon Lu Cheng, and that Lu Cheng could clamp the renal artery even after it ruptured.

Moreover!

Lu Cheng could identify renal artery damage even without knowing about a renal aneurysm...

When Lu Cheng arrived at the hospital, he didn’t bring an umbrella, so naturally, he didn’t have one when leaving.

Luckily, he hadn’t been there long, and the rain was still a light drizzle as before.

Hesitating for a moment, Lu Cheng didn’t act coy by calling Mu Nanshu for a ride and dashed into the rain as usual.

He wiped the water off the seat of his electric scooter, sat down, twisted the throttle, and headed home again.

After taking a shower and drying his hair, Lu Cheng sat down for dinner again.

By this time, Tian Hui and Lu Nanjia had already finished eating and were watching TV.

After changing the channel, Lu Nanjia turned to ask, ”What were you doing? You messaged us to eat first just after you got downstairs?”

”I got a call from the operating room, so I went to take a look.”

”Couldn’t wait for me to finish eating,” Lu Cheng replied with a smile.

Hearing it was work-related, Lu Nanjia didn’t ask further.

Lu Cheng’s work couldn’t be helped at home, so Lu Nanjia tried not to add to his burdens.

After eating, brushing his teeth, and washing his face, Lu Cheng went down to the underground garage again and drove back to the hospital.

Lu Cheng was on surgical duty today, and given the usual practices of the department, his surgical watch was unlikely to be peaceful, mainly because his range of operations was so broad that there would always be something to attend to.

At other times, Lu Cheng ignored the surgeries entirely and simply stayed in the department during his watch.

This time, Lu Cheng brought an umbrella.

As he shook the water off at the door, Zhang Tiesheng was just sending a patient with stones to the direction of the ultrasound room.

He caught sight of someone at the entrance of the Emergency Department and, out of habit, glanced over, thinking it might be a potential patient of his.

Upon seeing that it was Lu Cheng, Zhang Tiesheng whistled, ”Hello, Teacher Lu, good evening.”

”There’s fruit in the office, quickly go have some; it was specially brought by a patient’s family.”

”Which bed?” Lu Cheng asked with a smile.

Zhang Tiesheng joked, ”Not from our department; the patient is still in the operating room. The patient’s family sent it first.”

”They specifically mentioned it was for you, Teacher Lu. If you don’t have any, we wouldn’t dare touch it.”

It was likely that Du Qiang had called his relative again.

Having called in Lu Cheng for help, meals definitely weren’t properly had, and fruit like that should indeed be an expression.

After drying off his umbrella, Lu Cheng walked towards Zhang Tiesheng, ”Brother Zhang, you’re teasing me again.”

Zhang Tiesheng asked, ”What’s really going on? I don’t have any emergency surgeries for you to oversee here, right?”

”Is it the previous case from General Surgery? Or Neurosurgery?”

”You roam so widely, huh?”

Zhang Tiesheng, being on call, was quite informed about any surgeries that might occur.

”It was General Surgery; I just went over to have a look,” Lu Cheng did not provide a detailed explanation.

They walked into the doctors’ office together, took two boxes of fruit, and headed to the Emergency Surgery consulting room.

Inside the room, on Zhang Tiesheng’s desk, sat two cups of coffee. He naturally pushed one towards Lu Cheng, ”Director Du from General Surgery is quite eager to learn, isn’t he?”

”Whenever it’s your surgical watch, he surely takes the opportunity to learn something. It’s also what we should learn from.”

”A Director lowering his pride to consult you, Xiao Lu, such characteristics!” Zhang Tiesheng gave a thumbs-up.

It’s hard to say whether the fruit was just that sweet or whether he sincerely admired Du Qiang for his patience.

Generally speaking, not everyone can afford to lower their status to ask for help from a subordinate of lower rank.

Especially when it comes to instructional surgeries.

Zhang Tiesheng, having just been promoted to Deputy Chief Physician, didn’t mind such matters.

In contrast, Director Lin Qianlong couldn’t lower himself, thus not bringing up learning surgery from Lu Cheng at all.

”Brother Zhang, we’re just doing surgeries together for the sake of the patients, it’s not about teaching.”

”There’s really no formal teaching going on here, is there?” Lu Cheng hurriedly explained.
