System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

In the beginning, there weren’t many participants in the microsurgery competition, so it was based on an application system.

Basically, applying was enough to participate, since the competition was ’entertainment’ after all.

Even though the intention was for entertainment, this was ultimately a formal national-level competition with official backing. Achieving good results here would make one stand out, at least within the city, if not the entire province, right?

There aren’t that many patients in the hospitals of prefecture-level cities, so why wouldn’t all the hand surgery departments rush to compete for them?

With more people, the organizers couldn’t handle it, so they had to adopt a recommendation system. The hand surgery professional committees in each provincial capital recommended some people to participate.

Controlling the number of participants also made the competition more qualitative and easier to manage.

”The selection exam at the State Hospital is in November, and now there’s an additional provincial competition.”

”Our prepared project proposal is useless now.” Lu Cheng bit his lip.

Plans can’t keep up with changes!~

Mu Nanshu said, ”Don’t worry, with Professor Tong and Professor Chen Song, your selection exam shouldn’t have much of a problem.”

”At least in the directions of hand surgery and the emergency department, after they ask their questions over there, the exam process wouldn’t dare to be unfair.”

”Some things, if no one pays attention, naturally more daring actions can be taken, but when people are watching, you can’t just mess around.”

”Then we can only accept it, when people from the provincial courtyard step in, what can we do?”

Lu Cheng frowned, ”Would Professor Chen Song be willing to ask a question?”

Mu Nanshu nodded, ”The project you collaborated on with Professor Chen is at least ten times more meaningful than the one with Professor Tong.”

”Actually, if you want to go into hand surgery, it’s easier.”

”The emergency department, however, is a bit more difficult because hand surgery is a subspecialty, and its capabilities are straightforward to see.”

”But the competitive exam for the emergency department requires testing comprehensive abilities.” Mu Nanshu said.

Lu Cheng resolutely said, ”I’ll go to the emergency department, as it offers more surgical opportunities, which benefits me more.”

Mu Nanshu suddenly said, ”Today, my dad actually wanted you to meet the director of the emergency department in Ji City.”

Upon hearing this, Lu Cheng checked the time immediately, speaking with a slightly reproachful tone, ”Why didn’t you say it earlier? I should’ve gone.”

Getting familiar in advance, not necessarily to build connections, could still build some rapport.

Mu Nanshu said, ”You said you were meeting Professor Tong, so I thought it might also be good to meet Professor Tong first; you can meet Director Xiao of the emergency department in a few days.”

Seeing Lu Cheng’s slightly puzzled expression, Mu Nanshu clarified, ”This Director Xiao has some distant family ties with my family.”

”Although it’s a bit distant, when we talk, it gets there.”

”You don’t have to worry about it for now.”

”Oh...” Lu Cheng nodded.

Xiangzhou is large, but not that large, sometimes human connections circle back to oneself.

”Are you coming with me to Sha City on the 24th and 25th of next week?” Lu Cheng asked.

Because of the changes in the microsurgery competition, the hand surgery association of Xiang Province had to hastily organize an additional provincial competition.

This was announced in a formal notice yesterday, and Lu Cheng registered as soon as he could.

It’s about earning a living, nothing shameful about it.

The competition is scheduled on October 24th and 25th, with a short duration.

”We’ll see...” Mu Nanshu thought for a while, raised his right index finger in front of Lu Cheng, waved it, and said crisply, ”We’ll see about it when the time comes...”

Mu Nanshu wasn’t young anymore, nor was Lu Cheng.

This time going out, if they indeed went together, Mu Nanshu was well aware of what might happen.

Not exactly nervous, but surely a bit of trepidation is inevitable.
