System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

Doing a research project in a top comprehensive teaching hospital is expected; if you don’t, you’re falling behind.

But in the current domestic environment, not all city-level hospitals carry out research projects. Once you start one, your department will stand out among many city-level hospitals.

If a County Hospital is conducting a project... oh well, that’s something to brag about. Not to say it’s the only one in the province, but ranking in the top five or even top ten specialized County Hospitals in the province, no one would dare object...

Especially with the things clinical projects bring—the original techniques and methods.

If you can learn it first, you can even take it to academic conferences across the province for exchanges.

And the Tendon Suturing Technique that Lu Cheng plans to develop in the emergency department is one that Lin Qianlong assessed and felt people in his department could learn.

It’s something to look forward to.

Xie Liao frowned slightly, thought deeply for a moment, and said, ”Well, how about this, Dr. Lu, if you still want to go out, then we can only improve your treatment.”

”Priority in other aspects? It would be inappropriate to give you more of that.”

Xie Liao changed the address from ”you” to ”您” (an honorific for ’you’).

More polite, yet more distancing.

If Lu Cheng successfully passes the selection exam and goes to State People’s Hospital, whether he places the project at Long County People’s Hospital or Feng County People’s Hospital or Yong County People’s Hospital, isn’t that his freedom?

Verbal promises are not reliable.

If you don’t get along with people, why would they bring you benefits willingly?

Can’t offer more promotion channels, but giving more money is a way to create goodwill.

”Thank you, Director Xie and the hospital leaders, I personally express my most sincere gratitude for the hospital’s decision.” Lu Cheng knew this was the County Hospital’s sincerity.

...

Lu Cheng finally finished work.

Just got home and hadn’t even had a sip of water when Du Qiang’s message arrived on his phone.

”Xiao Lu, regarding yesterday’s matter, your Uncle Du won’t over-explain. If you don’t understand today, you should surely understand by tomorrow or the day after.”

”Some things have already been established and definitely can’t be reversed.”

”But if the established things can be used, they can also be materials to build upon.”

”Come over for a drink sometime,” Du Qiang’s tone was not cold but was undeniably assertive.

After reading the message, a few words of ”old fox” floated in Lu Cheng’s mind.

He then chose to delete the message record, deleting his chat with Du Qiang.

These things can exist but can’t leave traces.

If someone wants to investigate, they can certainly find the WeChat message backups, but why would anyone look into such small matters?

All because Du Qiang added some leverage for Lu Cheng, letting the hospital know how capable Lu Cheng is, and staged a performance to give Lu Cheng more achievements—is it reasonable to have such a thorough investigation?

Lu Cheng squinted his eyes.

At that moment, he felt like a naive and immature child, compared to someone as experienced as Du Qiang, he realized he still had much to learn.

After a while, Lu Cheng opened his eyes again.

”Ruthless person!~”

”If you can’t be friends, don’t become enemies with him either!” Lu Cheng labeled Du Qiang this way.

At the right time, Tong Yuan’an called to check in: ”Xiao Lu, were you okay last night?”

”I heard from the department that you got chewed out last night?”

Tong Yuan’an’s voice was filled with care and concern.

He clearly took this matter seriously.

Tong Yuan’an’s IQ and EQ were fine, but being under forty, he couldn’t understand the tactics of old foxes who’ve been navigating the county for years, like Du Qiang.

Societal issues can’t be fully understood just through studies and IQ.

”It’s fine, it’s fine, Professor Tong, aren’t you off today?” Lu Cheng asked politely.

”I’m just bored, so I’m going over to see the patient from yesterday’s surgery.”

”I’m about to head back. You weren’t very busy last night, after you rest this afternoon, let’s meet.” Tong Yuan’an invited proactively.

The project is there and definitely needs structuring and planning; it can’t yield results on its own.

”Alright, Teacher Tong, I’ll contact you once I’m back this afternoon.”

At least Tong Yuan’an is no longer withdrawn.
