System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

After confirming that the patient who had undergone limb replantation yesterday afternoon had no issues with blood circulation, Lu Cheng returned to the doctor’s lounge to start packing his bag.

At the right moment, Director Lin Qianlong entered with Deputy Director Xie Liao from the medical department.

At this time, only Lu Cheng and Tian Zhuang, the two doctors coming off their night shift, were in the lounge.

”Director Lin, Director Xie.” Lu Cheng and Tian Zhuang called out together to the entrants.

Lin Qianlong spoke formally, ”Xiao Lu, please come to my office. Today, Director Xie is here on behalf of the hospital.”

Lu Cheng paused slightly in his actions, while Tian Zhuang muttered somewhat discontentedly, ”Director Lin, Director Xie, Brother Lu did nothing wrong! ~”

Lu Cheng was quite surprised that Tian Zhuang spoke up for him.

Lin Qianlong gave Tian Zhuang a few complex looks, ”You should go back and rest. With that brain of yours, you won’t figure it out anyway. Get some good rest.”

Lu Cheng put down the bag in his hand and followed behind Lin Qianlong and Xie Liao. Although Xie Liao remained silent throughout, he wore a smile, indicating it probably wasn’t anything bad.

After entering the director’s office, Lin Qianlong said, ”I’ll arrange the tea. Director Xie, you should have a good chat with Xiao Lu, and strive to clearly convey the hospital’s intentions.”

”He is a talent from our ward and has always been one of my favorite generals.”

Following this tone set by Lin Qianlong, Lu Cheng knew that Xie Liao wasn’t here because of Du Qiang.

”Dr. Lu Cheng, I’m Xie Liao from the medical department. In fact, technically speaking, I shouldn’t be the one talking to you. It should’ve been someone from the HR department of our hospital...” said Xie Liao.

Lu Cheng remained silent for a moment, suddenly realizing, ”Director Xie, is it because the hospital leadership has other thoughts and plans about me taking the selection exam?”

Previously, Lu Cheng had expressed to the medical department his intention to leave. Although he managed to smooth it over using other measures, the decision had been made, and many knew he planned to leave.

In this process, it’s possible that some leaders might be upset and make things difficult for him, but Lu Cheng wasn’t afraid of these minor obstacles.

Seeing Lu Cheng speaking so forthrightly, Xie Liao didn’t get entangled, ”The hospital leadership indeed has some other views, so they asked me to first come and gauge your intentions.”

Xie Liao sat down and signaled Lu Cheng to do the same, ”Dr. Lu, you’ve just finished a night shift. It shouldn’t have disturbed you, but this won’t take up much of your time either.”

”I’m here to precisely convey Dean Peng’s intentions. Umm… do you have any thoughts about continuing to stay at our hospital?”

”Ever since you mentioned wanting to take the selection exam at the medical department, our hospital leadership has held several meetings specifically about you, Dr. Lu.”

Lu Cheng’s eyes flashed.

He started having new insights internally.

If it wasn’t for Du Qiang from general surgery seeking him, Lu Cheng would’ve still thought that Du Qiang was just an oily-brained middle-aged man.

But later, when Du Qiang brought his wife, Wei Cheng, to apologize to him and spoke privately about certain matters, Lu Cheng gained a fresh understanding of Director Du Qiang.

This damn guy is a true social player, efficient in doing things with his own set of rules; some matters can’t be judged just by appearance.

”Director Xie, could you be a bit more explicit?” Lu Cheng asked.

Xie Liao said, ”Lu Cheng, you are a talent, and this is something you are clearly aware of. Our hospital is located remotely and is in even greater need of talents than the State People’s Hospital.”

”Especially lacking talents like you, so the hospital leadership’s idea is for me to come and talk to you.”

”Performance coefficients, promotions, external training, etc., are all negotiable.”

”Of course, it also depends on your own wishes; we wouldn’t dare delay matters concerning your future.”

Blocking someone’s financial path is like killing their parents; obstructing someone’s future is akin to digging their ancestor’s grave.

Without absolute animosity, no one would dare say that Lu Cheng can’t go to the State to take the selection exam.

Why say so?

Lu Cheng said, ”Director Xie, this selection exam is about to start... aren’t you putting me in a difficult position?”

Xie Liao also patted his own chest, jokingly saying, ”Isn’t that exactly why the other leaders are embarrassed to ask you directly?”

”To be blunt, it’s just too utilitarian.”

”But considering the medical conditions of the people in Long County, I was still tasked with coming over to explore your thoughts, Dr. Lu.”

”If you have the desire to stay, our hospital can give a sincere offer.”

”The preliminary consideration is to elevate your performance coefficient directly to the associate chief physician level, which is 1.5, and you’re currently at 1.1, a direct 0.4 increase.”

”Regarding promotion, we’ll certainly prioritize your development. Any external training opportunities or participation in advanced studies—if you apply, you get priority!~”

Xie Liao not only spoke of sincerity, but also made it specific.

He continued, ”Alternatively, if you’re interested in transferring from the emergency department to a specialty, it’s also negotiable.”

At this moment, Lin Qianlong happened to come out from the inner room of the office, and upon hearing this, he immediately objected.

”Director Xie, I kindly prepared tea and warmly hosted you, and now you’re stabbing me in the back with an icy knife?”

”What do you mean by saying that Dr. Lu wants to transfer to a specialty and it’s negotiable?”

Xie Liao said, ”Director Lin, this is also for the greater good.”

Lin Qianlong shook his head and approached, ”Stop talking about the greater good; Du Qiang from general surgery uses some tactics to try to snatch Lu Cheng away from me, is that such a good deal?”

”If it were that easy to poach someone, I’d do it every day.”

”If Du Qiang makes a scene and lets you see Lu Cheng’s true capabilities, should they then just hand him over to general surgery?”
