System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

But it was precisely because of this professionalism that made Tong Yuan’an feel particularly uncomfortable.

Having some speculation, but being unable to confirm its authenticity, was truly damn uncomfortable...

Tong Yuan’an watched for about three minutes, then pressed down his emotions to continue the wound cleaning operation.

With the distraction of the surgery, Tong Yuan’an finally settled down and began to concentrate fully.

Time slowly moved forward, and about fifteen minutes later, Tong Yuan’an’s mind became chaotic again.

No other reason, Lu Cheng was watching him now!~

The reason was simply that Lu Cheng had completed the proximal wound cleaning and was now waiting for the bone fixation, also known as internal bone fixation surgery.

But the distal limb had not yet been cleaned, so Lu Cheng could only wait.

During the waiting, Lu Cheng could only ”watch” as he had done before...

Tong Yuan’an noticed Lu Cheng’s gaze but only after his Adam’s apple bobbed a few times. Then he glanced again at Lu Cheng’s cleaned end.

If he didn’t nitpick, there’s nothing to find fault with to make Lu Cheng stop ”watching.”

With this, Tong Yuan’an began to feel the pressure—

Damn it.

What the hell is my identity? A countryside doctor here to provide targeted assistance.

In other words, I’m here to teach.

But the current reality is that my student’s operational level is higher than mine. What kind of teaching is this?

How will my extended countryside term proceed in the future?

Could it be that Lu Cheng is only better at the basic skills of wound cleaning, not actual limb replantation surgery?

Such thoughts crossed Tong Yuan’an’s mind for a few seconds before he dismissed them because it’s even more impossible.

Tong Yuan’an was very clear about his wound cleaning skills; there was no way Lu Cheng could surpass him. If he could, even if he were being nitpicky to find faults, he might not find any.

There’s no way Lu Cheng could be found at fault with his detail handling.

After another seven or eight minutes, Tong Yuan’an finally completed the cleaning.

Having other thoughts in his mind, Tong Yuan’an said in a very cool tone, ”You’re young and quick with your hands, you handle the rest.”

Upon hearing this, Lu Cheng glanced at Tong Yuan’an, not noticing the ”tease” and ”doubt” in his eyes, and nodded in agreement.

”Okay, Teacher Tong.” Lu Cheng agreed and began rinsing the end with heparin saline.

Immediately, Lu Cheng very quickly proceeded with the manipulation and repositioning of the severed limb’s bones.

The hand was completely severed, so during replantation, there must be no directional deviation; this step is crucial...

Otherwise, no matter how well the suturing is done, if the bone repositioning isn’t correct, the postoperative hand position could be completely different from a normal hand, which would be a big joke.

Typically, this process is not difficult, but it does require some time to deal with various anatomical structures properly.

Lu Cheng was addressing them one by one, but what was noticeable was his exceptional speed in doing so.

Ulna, radius, nerves, blood vessels, tendons...

Lu Cheng took less than two minutes to align them, finding the appropriate matching directions.

After making the matches, Lu Cheng had Tian Zhuang begin temporary fixation with Kirschner wires to thoroughly secure the position.

After inserting two Kirschner wires, Lu Cheng and Tian Zhuang started plating...

The operational difficulty of the internal fixation with plates and screws in limb replantation is far lower than in non-severed fractures.

Since there is no tension in the soft tissue, the distal hand can rotate 360 degrees, and the bone surroundings are completely severed, providing a clear view.

In this situation, plating is just routine.

Align the fracture line and peel the periosteum.

After positioning the plate on the bone end, holes are drilled using the screw formula, the depth is measured to determine screw length, and an electric screwdriver is used to secure the screws.

Within just half an hour, Lu Cheng and Tian Zhuang completed the internal fixation of the ulnar and radial bones with plates and screws.

This speed wasn’t blazingly fast, but it was quite quick; even if Tong Yuan’an evaluated his speed, it would probably take over forty minutes.

Based on this, Tong Yuan’an was more convinced that Lu Cheng’s skill level in limb replantation surgery is likely higher than his own.

This damn talent is simply beyond the reach of ordinary people.

The thing about talent, it’s not about being taught but understanding yourself. For example, even though I haven’t completely performed bone fracture reduction and internal fixation surgery, I still know how.

But once someone like him has operated a few times, one time for him is equivalent to ten or fifty times for others.

Not requiring a large number of surgeries to push his skill level to the extreme.

For such people, the most important are the first few surgeries as the main operator...

Surgery is not mastered by watching but by doing.

”You continue,” Tong Yuan’an said before Lu Cheng could ask with his eyes.

Lu Cheng immediately began suturing the muscles and tendons.

This was even more of Lu Cheng’s forte...

Speed, quality, and technique selection, all Tong Yuan’an could do was admire.

How many types of tendon suturing techniques does Lu Cheng know? What is his skill level in these techniques?

He has the most experience.

For instance, the newly developed Tajima Suturing Technique surpasses even the level of Professor Tajima’s team as main operators.

For the original ”Tong Technique” from his own team, his level surpasses Tong’s own, let alone Lu Cheng’s own newly developed ’suturing technique’!

These techniques can’t be used arbitrarily; Lu Cheng hasn’t yet reached the associate senior level and isn’t allowed to innovate techniques for fear of being reported. Otherwise, the quality of the vascular beds that Lu Cheng creates might even surpass that of the old professors at Xiangya Hospital, which is still an unknown.
