Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Seeing Yang Yu’s unwavering expression in the face of danger, a nameless impatience surged into Liu Chuan’s heart. Swinging his warhammer, he launched another attack at Yang Yu.

Yang Yu took a deep breath calmly and began to deftly dodge Liu Chuan’s attacks.

Liu Chuan was utilizing area-of-effect skills, which would catch anyone off guard and pull them into the swing of the warhammer.

He told the soldiers of the Luo Ze Empire not to interfere precisely to prevent Yang Yu from using his attacks to seriously injure his own teammates.

The crackling sounds were incessant as the Holy Light Skills released by Liu Chuan blasted debris in every direction.

Yang Yu carefully sought out escape paths, evading skill after skill, opting only to endure the damage from the residuals.

Because of the existence of ”Holy Storm,” Yang Yu no longer had to worry about soldiers from the Luo Ze Empire stabbing him in the back.

With complete focus, Yang Yu quickly flipped through his internal skill book in his mind, guessing what Liu Chuan’s next skill might be, preparing in advance for defense and counterattack.

Perhaps it was because his performance was too outstanding, Yang Yu could feel Liu Chuan’s determination against him.

Liu Chuan sought by all means to reduce him to ashes.

However, with ”Holy Storm” in play, unable to rely on Bai Jin and Iyas’s power, the battle within the storm turned into a war of attrition for Yang Yu.

In the Sixth Layer of Blazing Fire City, Kui Yi commanded his troops, kicking open one room after another without hesitation, conducting a search.

Then, Kui Yi leaped onto the tallest building nearby and gazed out at the battle between Yang Yu and Liu Chuan from afar.

”He truly is worthy.

Despite facing the Chief, he remains so adept.

He has grown quite a lot since that time.

If he continues to grow unchecked, he will surely become a serious threat in the future.

Even if the Chief has no way with you...

There will surely be someone who can handle you after this.”

With a cold snort, as if he had completely lost interest in their battle, Kui Yi looked around.

At that moment, Kui Yi noticed an officer acting sneakily, inching towards the fort chamber where the Command Bell was kept.

Without saying another word, Kui Yi quietly followed him.

The officer greeted the soldiers guarding the bell tower with a swagger, then strutted into the fort chamber with his chest out.

Kui Yi was about to shift his gaze back, but caught a shadow out of the corner of his eye, silently scaling the highest point of the fort wall.

Clicking his tongue, Kui Yi jumped down from the roof and walked towards the fort chamber.

The guards casually stopped Kui Yi, ”Lord Kui Yi, what’s the matter? The fort chamber is off-limits to outsiders.”

Kui Yi spoke seriously, ”What business did that officer have here just now?”

The guarding soldiers answered, ”Don’t know, seems like he was conveying orders on behalf of General Kai Lu.”

”Is that so?”

Kui Yi looked up towards the top layer of the fort chamber, waited a while, but the expected bell sound did not ring out.

Without a word, under the watchful eyes of all, he climbed along the wall to the top layer of the fort chamber.

There, a black serpentine shadow had entangled a man holding a wooden mallet, about to strike the bell—the very officer Kui Yi had just seen.

Around him, soldiers lay in a bloodbath, brought down by something unknown.

The only one alive was the officer now ensnared by the shadow.

At the window, Kui Yi heard the shadow whispering to the officer:

”Giggle giggle giggle, won’t let you ring the bell, the more people that die in this war, the better...

All of this is for the advent of the Demon Lord.”

Souls are still not enough, not enough.

Without that thing, we need even more lost souls!”

The shadowy figure laughed eerily as it tightened its serpent-like body around the NCO’s neck.

With a ”snap,” Kui Yi jumped through the window into the highest floor of the bunker.

”Who’s there!”

The shadowy figure turned its head at the arrival of Kui Yi, and upon seeing he was alone, couldn’t help but sneer:

”Unbelievable, another one not afraid to die.”

The shadowy figure instantly extended, striking at Kui Yi like a long serpent.

Kui Yi didn’t dodge; he merely caught the attacking shadow with a regular grasp, and the next second, with a squeeze of his hand, the shadow let out a painful howl.

The shadow felt that something was amiss and tried to slip out of Kui Yi’s grasp.

But no matter how hard it tried, Kui Yi held it firmly.

An inexplicable force was pulling the shadow, slowly absorbing it into Kui Yi’s body.

”What in the world is going on?!

You’re supposed to be human, why do you have such power!!

Mother, save me! Save me!”

No matter how the shadow screamed, Kui Yi did not let go.

The shadow was thus absorbed into Kui Yi’s hand, turning into a small black dot in the palm of his hand.

”She will definitely like this gift.”

Muttering softly, Kui Yi approached the officer who was coughing violently on the ground and extended a hand:

”Are you okay? That thing has been dealt with.”

The officer, looking at the hand Kui Yi offered, was bewildered and uncertain about how to explain to Kui Yi in front of him. He could only take Kui Yi’s hand, stand up, and offer flattery:

”Lord Kui Yi truly lives up to his reputation, dealing with that thing so effortlessly... I owe my rescue to you...I will tell you everything I’ve experienced, in detail...”

Kui Yi patted the officer’s shoulder, showing a smile:

”Don’t be so tense; we are the same kind of people.

You came here to ring the bell, right?

Hurry and ring it, so the human elite can quickly transfer through the teleportation device to avoid more deaths.

For the future, preserving our strength is of utmost importance.”

Hearing Kui Yi’s words, the officer was stunned for a moment before showing a smile of realization and walked over to the wooden pestle to ring the Luo Ze Empire’s command bell—a pattern of three long and three short.

The bell had just finished ringing when an icy sword blade pierced directly through the officer, who had just rung the bell.

The bell-ringing officer, with disbelief in his eyes, turned back and saw only Kui Yi standing there smiling expressionlessly.

Before doing this, the officer had imagined his own sacrifice... but he could never have anticipated that it would turn out like this.

Who in the world is this man?

If he truly were a comrade, upon seeing that shadow and knowing about the Curse Sect’s involvement, there could have been countless ways to save me...

Lying in a pool of blood, the officer couldn’t understand until his death that several other forces had been involved in this war.

Kui Yi showed a smile as he withdrew the sword blade from the officer’s body.

”This war will not come to a peaceful end as you all imagine. It will only continue.”
