Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

A massive explosion occurred, and Luo Ze Mages guarding the other cave entrances heard the commotion, but because they were too far away from the blasted entrance, they had no way of observing the Beastman Army’s movements.

Without much consideration, they gathered Magic Power and cast Reconnaissance Magic into the sky through the Magic Device.

The Beastman Magic Troop was already poised and ready, using Magic to counteract Magic, interfering with the Humans’ reconnaissance.

The Reconnaissance Magic was rendered ineffective, and the Luo Ze Soldiers guarding the other cave entrances, just to be safe, took out Crystal Balls to contact their General.

But to their surprise, their Crystal Balls were completely unresponsive.

The Beastman Army marched forward, racing against time, and darted into the cave.

One by one, the members of the Blazing Fire Clan ignited the fur on their bodies, transforming into a blaze of light, illuminating the path for the troops.

Upon seeing Yang Yu, Dongmu said nothing.

Everything that needed to be said had already been said before the operation began.

Climbing onto Lotcar’s back, Yang Yu whistled, and a thirty-man Beastman squad instantly peeled away from his force.

The Beastman Soldiers who made up the squad were mostly nimble in form and, like assassins, could clear out any Luo Ze Soldiers they might encounter along the way, clearing a path for the main force.

Due to the special construction of Blazing Fire City, those at the cave entrance could easily hear the commotion inside the city, but it was not necessarily the case for those inside to hear noises coming from the entrance.

Even if they could hear, Humans, lacking the keen hearing of the Beastmen, would find it difficult to discern whether the sounds coming from the cave entrance signaled good or bad news.

To be safe, the Luo Ze Empire had stationed soldiers at intervals.

However, these soldiers, still not clear about what was actually happening and debating whether to investigate toward the direction of the sounds, saw shadows flickering on the uneven cave walls, robbing them of any chance to investigate or report.

The roaring echoed within the spacious and majestic Blazing Fire Clan’s temple, yet the side of the temple close to the volcano showed no signs of collapse.

General Kai Lu, who had been watching the wall, couldn’t help but harbor some doubts.

The essence of a surprise attack was in its unpredictability, and it would be logical to quickly break through the wall and infiltrate. But...

There was much wind but little rain, as the walls showed no sign of breaking.

Was it because the wall was thicker than expected, or was there some other reason?

General Kai Lu furrowed his brow.

Many of Luo Ze Empire’s elite soldiers were gathered here; if this was merely a feint, if such a loud noise had been deliberately made, and if the main Beastman force chose to mount a frontal assault...

What then?

Kui Yi’s face was expressionless as he glanced at the green-haired man standing beside him.

”Chief, what do you think is going on?”

The green-haired man didn’t answer Kui Yi, but instead picked up his hammer and turned away, walking into the city.

Kui Yi, dissatisfied, curled his lip and approached General Kai Lu,

”General Kai Lu, it appears the walls are unexpectedly sturdy. To be cautious, how about trying to contact the soldiers guarding the cave entrances?”

General Kai Lu nodded in agreement and summoned the communications troop to try to reach the soldiers stationed at each cave entrance.

However, all of the communications troop’s Crystal Balls were without response.

”It can’t be...”

General Kai Lu’s expression turned extremely ugly,

”Could there be a traitor among the soldiers stationed here? Damn it, to think that at this critical moment...

Kui Yi, you and some of the elite continue to stay here, while I lead the troops to check the situation outside.”

”Your orders will be followed, General. If this is indeed a feint, I’ll rush over immediately.”

”No, if this is truly a feint, you are responsible for catching the traitor!”

High-level mages unable to intervene in this war, could only mean that the phenomenon was likely caused by a device manufactured by a research institute...

”Go and search him out for me!”

Having said that, General Kai Lu left the shrine with a considerable number of men.

Kui Yi stood emotionlessly on the spot, bidding General Kai Lu farewell with the corner of his eye and then glanced at the wall again.

Without hesitation, Kui Yi led his troops and turned to leave the shrine, also springing into action.

The beastman army’s march deep into the corridors, where they were supposed to confront the enemy, was nipped in the bud by Yang Yu’s forces.

The cave entrance that Yang Yu and his men chose led directly to the eastern edge of Blazing Fire City.

With the force of thunder, they took out the Luo Ze soldiers near the exit, and Yang Yu’s path suddenly cleared.

Blazing Fire City was not as dim as the underground cities depicted in most novels; on the contrary, it was a bit too bright.

This was all thanks to a white spherical object hanging directly above Blazing Fire City.

It was like a bright sun, radiating dazzling light and warm heat, enveloping Blazing Fire City.

Blazing Fire City, similar to the side of a Maya pyramid, possessed a stepped structure with a wider top than bottom, with a spacious staircase connecting all levels.

On each level, a series of exquisite and beautiful houses, akin to works of art, were arranged in an orderly fashion.

They were mostly made from volcanic glass or some other beautiful volcanic minerals.

In this soft light, they looked splendid and magnificent, exuding an air of luxury.

Without seeing it for oneself, no one would believe that such a city was hidden inside a volcano, nor would they believe that such finely crafted houses were inhabited by a race that wasn’t much to look at.

It seemed that the underground-dwelling race didn’t have much entertainment and excelling in a particular skillset wasn’t surprising.

However, this was truly a great construction project.

Judging by its scale, constructing such a city would take at least hundreds of years.

Yang Yu could feel the devotion the Blazing Fire Clan poured into Blazing Fire City.

They surely wanted to reclaim Blazing Fire city intact...

But things don’t always go as one would like.

Unusual sounds came from the tunnel; Luo Ze’s troops were already on guard.

Luo Ze’s newly assembled forces, under the command of their officers, immediately launched an assault on the incoming beastman soldiers.

The Luo Ze Empire’s mages and archers had already ascended to the second level of the terraced city, three stories high, taking advantage of the city’s structure to launch a high-ground assault.

But the situation was too urgent, and the numbers of Luo Ze’s assembled troops were far fewer than the beastmen.

Many of Luo Ze Empire’s troops were moving nearby at other exits, on standby, and simply could not provide quick reinforcements.

The beastman army simply, like a tide, swallowed up the Luo Ze troops in front of them.

Stepping out of the shrine at the top of Blazing Fire City, General Kai Lu was quite surprised to see so many beastmen flooding into Blazing Fire City all at once.

At that moment, a Luo Ze mage, out of breath, finally made his way up the stairway to Kai Lu.

Upon seeing Kai Lu, the mage immediately spoke up:

”General Kai Lu, the beastman forces...”

The report had arrived too late, and an infuriated General Kai Lu brushed past the mage; anyone could see what was going on now.

General Kai Lu descended the staircase, layer by layer, commanding his men to gather reinforcements.

With every level he descended, the number of soldiers by General Kai Lu’s side grew.

General Kai Lu personally led his troops, charging toward the fiercely approaching beastman army.
