Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Several Luo Ze officers guarding the cities around Qinghe Volcano saw the cities fall so swiftly that they realized it was only a matter of time before Yang Yu reached them.

The illustrious name of the colorful-haired masked man had, at some point, become legendary among the troops.

His swift capture of the cities surrounding Qinghe Volcano was a striking addition to his legend.

During a speech, all it took was an inadvertent mention that the colorful-haired masked man was in charge of the Beastmen’s battle operations for the troops’ morale to be cut in half.

If they really confronted the colorful-haired masked man, even though the soldiers would still follow orders, one could not expect those who had lost a great deal of their morale to perform at their normal level.

The final outcome was self-evident.

After much deliberation, several officers defending the city decided to abandon it and flee.

Little did they know, a Beastmen guerrilla force had been waiting outside the city for some time, pummeling them chaotically and sending them to a prisoner-of-war camp.

The battle for Qinghe Volcano was so effortless that the Beastmen began to wonder how they had ever lost the volcano in the first place.

The defense of the Sailuomen Plain, thanks to the intervention of the Centaur troops, was firmer than any year before.

Ajiket continuously exploited the mobility of the Centaurs to harass Luo Ze Empire’s Army, executing a successful containment.

In addition to the Centaur troops, the battlefields saw a continuous emergence of sub-human soldiers of various races, each with their own unique abilities.

For example, there were the Giant Horn Clan with the strength to uproot mountains; the Stone Lizard Clan that was merely one meter long but exceptionally swift; and the Black Claw Clan, with their massive claws and expertise in digging.

These special sub-humans often appeared at the most critical moments of the battle, turning the tide with their individual prowess.

The Luo Ze Empire suffered heavy losses.

More fatally, the Wansheng Country had captured many low-level soldiers of the Luo Ze Empire, preventing humans from gaining an advantage through small-scale conflicts.

The spring-summer offensive of the Luo Ze Empire suddenly became severe without warning.

Their first reaction was that Wansheng Country, like them, was hiding its true power.

Sitting atop a recently captured city, Yang Yu wiped the blood off his sword blade and looked toward the face emerging on Bai Jin’s Crystal Ball, saying,

”From what you’ve just told me, the war situation seems to have developed unexpectedly in the Beastmen’s favor.”

”It’s not without warning.

This result was also within expectations; none of the special sub-human forces that passed the assessment are ordinary.

Our educational strength and their own abilities are still far more than what has been shown.

But from what I can tell, they are still far less than General Potato.

We never expected that you could achieve so much with just that small number of troops.

We look forward to your future performance.”

The face that emerged on the crystal ball was not someone else but Dorena, the Elf instructor who had communicated with Yang Yu on numerous occasions.

She had just informed Yang Yu about the situations on the other battlefields and had asked for his future combat suggestions.

Yang Yu had also taken the time during his rest to inform Dorena of his situation, allowing her to collate and report to Minister Ming Dalak.

Now, Yang Yu and Dorena were just having an informal chat.

”Speaking of which, you’ve taught so many sub-humans at once...

How many sub-human races still don’t want to get involved in this war?”

”Except for the Lamia Clan, all other sub-human species living in Wansheng Country have completed their alliance,”

Dorena answered expressionlessly,

”The Lamias are a particularly stubborn race; they seem to be guarding something important.

Even at such a crisis, they are unwilling to participate.”

”Clearly, if they lost the protection of their nation, the very thing they have always been guarding would likely be taken away by humans...”

”Minister Ming Dalak repeatedly tried to persuade them personally, yet he could not manage to win over the Lamia Clan.”

”Hmm... I, too, have had an encounter with the Lamia Clan, and they indeed seem reluctant to leave the Sand Sea.

By the way, I wanted to ask about the current state of the Elf Clan on behalf of the elves in my team.”

Dorena continued to respond expressionlessly:

”The first group of Elf Priests was put into service in winter.

After spring arrived, more and more Elf Priests joined the battlefield, and our casualties rapidly declined.

The Holy Light possessed by elves is not something ordinary humans can match; essentially, all elves have the potential to become high-level Priests.

The Elf Queen has heeded our advice and has agreed to dispatch several more groups of elves in succession to undergo training,

to become a part of our forces.”

”That’s excellent news. And what about the elves who were taken captive? Has there been any news of them?”

”On this matter, General Potato need not worry.

With our relentless efforts, we finally located the trace of those humans in the eastern mountains and brought back the vast majority of the elves to a secure place.

We also uncovered some information about the assailants who attacked the Elf Village.

After suffering, many kidnapped elves who returned expressed a willingness to join the cause against humans.

Our side is intensifying their training, and I believe they will soon be able to meet with General Potato.”

”Is that so? That’s good to hear. The Elf Queen will surely be pleased to see this development.

Please convey to Minister Ming Dalak again that, after recapturing Qinghe Volcano, I might go to conquer several Underground Mazes to further strengthen my power, so that in this harsh winter, I can reclaim the Selovomen Plain completely.

Put everything on the negotiation table.

I hope that after my success, I can receive the reward I deserve.”

”I understand, I will convey the message for General Potato.

Well, I have other business to attend to...”

Just as she was about to terminate the communication, Dorena seemed to remember something else,

”Also, General Potato’s tactics have been proven viable on the battlefields surrounding Qinghe Volcano.

If the General allows it, I would like to promote those tactics and attire throughout our military forces.

Apart from Selovomen and Kafezaro, our country has many forests; I believe they will undoubtedly be very effective.”

”No problem.”

Saying this, Yang Yu let Bai Jin cut off the communication and began organizing a team for the next city.

Dongmu, leading his forces westward to besiege Qinghe Volcano, advanced at a pace far slower than Yang Yu, but they were just as unstoppable.

After several communications to confirm each other’s siege progress, Dongmu eventually met with Yang Yu at the northern base of Qinghe Volcano.

And now, the only remaining place to conquer at Qinghe Volcano was the city of the Blazing Fire Clan.

Upon seeing Yang Yu, Dongmu, as always, burst into loud laughter, walked behind Yang Yu, slapped him on the back, and lavishly praised his performance in the war before summoning the Blazing Fire Clan he led.

To look at them, the Blazing Fire Clan was hardly different from humans, but all of them had fiery red hair and pale red skin, with pointed ears that were not as sharp as those of the elves.

Through Dongmu’s introductions, a hunched old man from the Blazing Fire Clan extended his bony, emaciated hand to Yang Yu,

”I am the Clan Leader of the Blazing Fire Clan, named Chen Shi Chi Huo. I am very pleased to meet you!”
