Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Yang Yu reached out and shook hands with Chen Shi Chi Huo. Despite being part of the Blazing Fire Clan which belonged to the Fire Clan, their body temperature was not much different from an average person’s.

”It’s an honor to meet you.”

Sizing up Yang Yu, Chen Shi revealed a kindly smile,

”I can feel the abundant energy within you, truly befitting a representative of the Plant Clan.

If you can successfully reclaim our city, we shall extract the Racial Essence from the Warm Fire Stones as agreed, to treat your Woodification Disease.

We are well aware of the torment caused by illness.”

”Thank you, Clan Leader.”

After exchanging a few pleasantries, Dongmu rubbed his chin with his fuzzy hand and smiled,

”Now that we have been acquainted with one another,

let’s quickly discuss the combat plan.

The city of the Blazing Fire Clan is not going to be easy to take back.

General Potato, on the way here, you must have seen the architectural differences between different Sub-human Species...”

”That’s true; this trip has really opened my eyes.

This world is truly home to a variety of races.”

”Well, you’ve been to the Elf Forest before and seen the style of the elves...

to accept this so readily is great.

Though the cities and settlements of the various Sub-human Races have their unique differences, we can easily identify their Enemy Defense City Walls and defense facilities.

However, the city we’re about to attack, Blazing Fire City, is not like any we have seen before.”

Yang Yu asked, ”In what way is it different?”

Dongmu furrowed his brows, unsure how to explain,

”The city of the Blazing Fire Clan is near the volcano’s mouth...

Compared to the area surrounding Qinghe Volcano, it’s rather barren.

Their city is an invisible city.

The molten lava formed from previous volcanic eruptions contains plenty of pyroxene and volcanic glass.

They collect that material and lay it in the conduits...”

Seeing Dongmu struggling to clarify, Chen Shi took over the explanation:

”The city we built...

We excavate at the mid-levels of the volcano, creating a hollowed-out area, and then we construct the city within it.

Surrounding the city, we carve roads that connect to one another.

There are very beautiful crystals found in the volcanic lava which our clan adores.

Either we refine and mold them into shapes, or we use them directly to decorate our city.”

With that explanation, Yang Yu immediately understood that the Blazing Fire Clan’s city might well be a huge earthen kiln.

Perhaps, it would be more apt to describe it as an ant nest within the volcano.

”If you bury the city in the flank of a volcano, what’s your plan in case of an eruption?”

Chen Shi chuckled,

”Thank you for your concern.

We don’t completely penetrate the volcano; we stop when we hit hard rock.

The reason we build our city close to a volcano is to absorb the heat from within it.

Just as your Plant Clan has the Woodification Disease, we too have a particular ailment that afflicts us.”

”If we don’t regularly consume a large amount of heat, our bodies will darken and gradually stiffen until they finally become a complete statue.”

The Fire Birth Festival is a very important festival for us. As long as we absorb enough heat during the Fire Birth Festival, we don’t need to take in any other heat for the rest of the year.

We are most familiar with the status of Qinghe Volcano, as the race that lives in its shadow.

Before the volcano actually erupts, we will close the city and go into hibernation.

About ninety percent of our people survive until the volcano’s fury subsides.”

After confirming that there were no new tasks on the panel, Yang Yu spoke up,

”So that’s how it is, but your city is underground, which shouldn’t be easy to conquer.

How exactly did the Luo Ze Empire’s Army manage to drive you out of your city?”

Chen Shi revealed helplessness, ”We once thought we had no reason to fear humans. As long as they dared enter our city, we had many ways to ensure they would not return.

But those despicable humans, we don’t know what they threw into our city.

After it exploded, our city became engulfed in a white expanse. All my people couldn’t stop their tears and coughed incessantly.

And those humans were wearing strange masks, fighting nonchalantly through the smoke.

My people paid a heavy price to tear open a breach in the human troops and escape with some of our clan members and the Warm Fire Stones...”

At this point, Yang Yu could see the frustration written all over Chen Shi’s face.

The memory of that day was forever etched into the depths of his heart, lingering indelibly.

From Chen Shi’s description, it seemed humans had already developed tear gas and gas masks.

The technological progress of the Luo Ze Empire was alarmingly fast.

Initially, he had given Fuer Maling of the All Things Library an excellent suggestion to start producing cell phones, but the Luo Ze Empire had simply rolled out a prototype...

However, Yang Yu was certain that the Luo Ze Empire did not develop such things through a gradual build-up of their own industrial system.

They must have had help from some external force...

Could it be that some tech-savvy guy ended up in the Luo Ze Empire and began farming their technology?

Of course, this was less likely.

Not to mention anything else, given the communication box Yang Yu obtained from Luo Ze soldiers, designing a dialing system was far more covert and secure than a stack of folders.

Yang Yu didn’t believe that the Luo Ze Empire, capable of producing control panels for cannons, couldn’t make a dialing system.

So, Yang Yu leaned more toward another common trope—the Luo Ze Empire had seized control of dangerous ancient civilization remnants and was continuously researching and investigating.

The Luo Ze Empire also surely knew that to decipher the secrets of ancient civilizations was extremely difficult.

Since one can’t become fat with only one bite, one has to nibble away slowly.

Finally, after the relentless efforts of the Luo Ze Empire’s researchers, they caught a glimpse of the tip of the iceberg of the ancient civilization’s remnants, learned part of the principles of certain things, or were perhaps able to directly utilize some of the ancient devices.

Those remnants of ancient civilizations were like Pandora’s Box, filled with countless treasures.

Yang Yu had no idea what other bizarre things the Luo Ze Empire might come up with next. If they accidentally activated some superweapon, they might destroy the world.

The longer the war drags on, the more disadvantageous it becomes for Wansheng Country.

They must decide the outcome before magic can no longer defeat their technology...

If it weren’t for the unexpected event of the Demon King Descent, the Luo Ze Empire would probably continue to lie low for a few more years, until their elite troops were fully mature and technology widespread. At that point, Wansheng Country would be completely powerless to resist.

But now that the ”black swan” event of the Demon King Descent had occurred, the Luo Ze Empire was panicking.

Wansheng Country must seize this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to turn the tides.

”The humans across from us are truly unfathomable.

It seems that Wansheng Country doesn’t have much time left.

Chen Shi Clan Leader, I need you to provide more information so that I can devise better strategies.”
