Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Lazily leaning against the tree trunk, Yang Yu let out a massive yawn, akin to a salted fish hung up to dry.

After the troops left to carry out guerrilla warfare, he actually found himself with nothing to do.

The Beastman Army, sticking to their usual tactics, harassed when the enemy rested and retreated when the enemy attacked, exploiting their superior hearing and smell to bully the human forces.

The effectiveness of the guerrilla warfare surpassed Yang Yu’s imagination, with the Beastmen even combining the two senses to track the humans without leaving a single trace.

He had thought that calls for reinforcements would be incessant and that, during a crisis for the Beastman groups, he could make a grand entrance and dramatically boost his presence.

Instead, the scattered Beastman squads, each like a War God, relentlessly pursued the disorganized human troops, beating them until they cried for mercy.

It could be said that Beastmen were naturally cut out for guerrilla warfare.

But that is hardly surprising, as different countries cultivate different kinds of armies.

Luo Ze’s troops, who had long planned against Wansheng Country, underwent unified and formalized training.

Wansheng Country was forced into the war; many areas were haphazard in preparation, and many highly evaluated soldiers had worked as adventurers or guards. Their capabilities in individual or small-group combat were extremely strong.

While standardized training could enhance coordination, being too standardized could also, to some extent, erase individuality, making it difficult for them to adapt.

It’s like pioneering a boss in a game: after a dozen or twenty attempts, ordinary people can also grasp some tricks. But when confronted with a different boss, they wouldn’t know how to fight.

Yang Yu hadn’t noticed this while facing mostly Luo Ze Elites.

Now that he interacted more with common soldiers in the jungle, he began to see the problems within the Luo Ze Empire.

Furthermore, the skills learned by those Luo Ze soldiers were very similar.

Having seen them often, Yang Yu could somewhat predict what tactics the officers would employ next.

Defeating these Luo Ze soldiers brought some initial sense of Achievement, but as time passed, the more Yang Yu fought them, the more it felt like he was just reaping vegetables.

With no other option, Yang Yu shamelessly blocked any troops he encountered on the road dealing with Beastmen, claiming to be training them as an excuse to collect Experience.

Thus, Yang Yu’s squad’s Level was now nearing a Hundred-Level.

Due to the rules set by the giant dragon, participants’ strengths in this war were limited within a certain range.

Someone like Aslit, who was known on the Genius List, was enough to give most troops a hard time.

Not to mention the squad trained by Yang Yu.

Bai Jin had full output, despite being a bit unwieldy and fragile.

Iyas started taking on the responsibilities of a Priest, and was busily learning high-level Healing Skills.

Iyas, with a high Level and the ”Blessed by the Goddess LV.MAX” status, could heal more than a quarter of Yang Yu’s health in one shot.

Of course, Yang Yu converted all the Healing into output.

Sitting on the treetop, Yang Yu turned his gaze to Bai Jin, who was practicing by the nearby river.

”Great Water Element, heed my call...”

Since Bai Jin had learned Chant Simplification and No Chanting, Yang Yu hadn’t listened to Bai Jin Chant such a long Spell like this.

The water in the river heeded Bai Jin’s call, slowly rose, and gradually formed rain clouds not far from Bai Jin, starting a drizzle.

The difficulties of Rainfall Magic had been overcome, now what remained was simplification, increasing the range and height, to make it cover an entire city as needed.

Suddenly, Bai Jin’s Magic abruptly stopped, and she sprinted and leaped up.

In her spare time, Bai Jin also began to practice Flying Magic. By now, she was able to hover in the air for a short time quite effortlessly.

”Grand General, it’s a communication from General Dongmu.”

Taking the Crystal Ball from Bai Jin’s hand, Yang Yu connected the call, and General Dongmu’s simple and honest face once again appeared on the Crystal Ball.

General Dongmu was very satisfied with the achievements Yang Yu had made,

”Hahaha, to think you’ve done it again.

How many more times do you intend to surprise me before you’re willing to call it quits?”

”The troops I sent out have already made contact with yours.

They have learned quite a lot from your troops; it’s been hugely beneficial.

It looks like as long as we continue implementing the tactics you’ve devised, we should be able to stabilize the situation at Qinghe Volcano.

Are we ready to move on to the next phase of operations?”

”You’re right, I should almost go and find something to do.

This past month, we’ve had pleasing achievements. While morale is high, it’s time we made some attempts.”

”Indeed, I have a proposal. The Stripe Guardians have been causing trouble lately, how about we start with their hometown? That’s also why I contacted you.”

”Of course.”

After saying this, Yang Yu pondered for a moment,

”General Dongmu, there’s something I want to discuss with you.

If we can take down Qinghe Volcano ahead of schedule, I’d like to ask for a little leave to conquer a few Underground Mazes.

The last time I faced Luo Ze Elite, the quality of my shield was far inferior to her sword, her blade cut through iron like mud, and I lost several shields.

As long as this war continues, I’ll inevitably cross swords with her again.

I’ve already asked His Majesty for Racial Essence, and at this point, it would be impolite to ask for any other rewards.

If I could acquire some rare items from the Underground Mazes, I could also make a trade with His Majesty for the weapons I want.

It would make my battles to come a little easier.”

”It’s really nothing of a bother. As long as you take down this place successfully, I believe His Majesty will be more than willing to reward you.”

General Dongmu laughed heartily,

”However, the Underground Maze is indeed a good place for training. You can become even stronger, and wouldn’t it be great if you could turn the tide of battle with the strength of one person?”

Yang Yu smiled, ”Turning the tide of a battle single-handedly only exists in fairy tales.”

At that moment, Iyas, who was on lookout, rushed over to Yang Yu at high speed, and Yang Yu and General Dongmu actively cut off the connection.

”Grand General, something’s wrong, I saw a troop of five hundred men heading our way.”

”Five hundred men?”

Yang Yu took out his sword and shield and leaped down from the tree,

”With that number of enemies, we should be able to handle it. Everyone else, get ready.”

At Yang Yu’s command, Bai Jin and the others took out their weapons and followed Yang Yu, blocking the path of the advancing troop.

”You are surrounded, surrender quietly!”

The Luo Ze Empire’s army saw that there were only four of them and immediately laughed.

But their laughter quickly turned serious, for in this world, it was indeed possible to fight a hundred to one.

If this small squad turned out to be as elite as those trained by the Luo Ze Empire, what would they do then?

This thought flashed by, and the Deputy General leading the troops launched a charge.

In an instant, a burly man leaped from the treetops, transforming into a massive werewolf, barreling straight through their ranks.

Yang Yu followed Lotcar’s lead, a ”Support Charge” completing his maneuver, then used Red Blood Path to create space for his comrades to attack.

The Frost Ice Arrows crafted by Bai Jin went ’bam’ as they hit one soldier after another, instantly bringing them down in pools of blood, leaving them without the power to fight back.

Hundreds of men faced only a small squad of four people and a Slime, yet were beaten back relentlessly.

Just as Yang Yu was about to deal a fatal blow to the Deputy General, suddenly several Wind Blades flew from the sky, landing right in front of Yang Yu and his companions.

Yang Yu looked up, only to see a flying Hapi in the sky.
