Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

”Listen carefully! Learn diligently!”

Before they officially entered the area surrounding Qinghe Volcano, Yang Yu conducted special training for his troops in the nearby forest.

He tapped on the blackboard and drew a bird’s-eye view of Qinghe Volcano and its surrounding environment using his Soul Painting Skill,

”Qinghe Volcano is a dormant volcano that has not erupted for many years.

Because it has spewed a large amount of volcanic ash in the past, the area is densely vegetated.

Various races have settled here in the form of small tribes, and there are only a few major cities.

But ’a few’ does not mean they are not important.

Those major cities, positioned in strategic locations due to the terrain, are easy to defend but difficult to attack.

Our target is not to aim for those major cities and bite off more than we can chew right from the start.

Instead, we’ll do the opposite — we’ll surround the cities using the countryside.”

Yang Yu drew several human-occupied strongholds on the blackboard,

”As we understand it, though humans of the same Level may have a lower individual combat ability compared to beastmen, if they unite, we can’t withstand their attacks.

Therefore, we should fully utilize the beastmen’s advantages.

You possess sensitive hearing and a keen sense of smell.

In most cases, it is the beastmen who detect humans first.

When we fight humans, we aim for small annihilative battles, accumulating small victories to achieve a significant victory, gradually defeating the enemy’s morale through countless battles and expanding our advantage...”

Yang Yu wrote and drew on the blackboard, depicting guerrilla warfare as best as he could from his memories.

This is a world of swords and magic; in Yang Yu’s world, the presence of firearms often made lethal strikes convenient, enabling easy guerrilla tactics.

However, in this world, because each person has levels and different attributes, it is difficult to kill with a single blow.

Thus, executing guerrilla warfare requires careful attention to many aspects.

Such as knowing when to retreat and when to fight.

As long as we can clarify this issue, we can further reduce our soldiers’ losses.

To train the soldiers in this crucial aspect, Yang Yu specifically picked some that looked strong but were weak, and some that looked ordinary but were strong, using them as examples for the various situations to be wary of on the battlefield, conducting thorough and repetitive instruction.

He let the soldiers know when to strike and when to promptly retreat to seek reinforcements, thereby outnumbering the enemy.

In this way, just the teaching and drills alone took another five or six days.

However, to make all soldiers thoroughly understand this tactic, a real battle was indeed necessary.

The brief truce in spring ended.

The Luo Ze Empire’s soldiers stationed at Qinghe Volcano also started moving. This year, they planned to use Qinghe Volcano as a base to further infiltrate Wansheng Country and force it into surrender quickly.

A General Luo Ze named Qiuyue, following a narrow path, swiftly attacked towards Qingyu City—an important city of Wansheng Country located outside the Qinghe Volcano forest range.

After humans captured Qinghe Volcano, a large number of beastmen retreated there, planning a counterattack.

Capturing it was difficult, but conversely, once captured, the Empire could more quickly conquer Wansheng Country and bring it under its foot.

While leading the troops through the jungle, suddenly, several sharp Frost Ice Arrows tore through the sky, ”Bam” striking at the rear of the troops.

Accompanied by cries of agony, Qiuyue instantly organized the troops to be on alert on the spot,

”Don’t panic! You are the well-trained troops of Luo Ze, get ready to meet the enemy.”

Under Qiuyue’s command, Luo Ze’s soldiers quickly formed a defensive formation, yet for the past one or two hours, the anticipated Beastman Army hadn’t attacked.

Even though magicians cast Surveillance Magic into the sky, they couldn’t spot a single beastman.

”What’s going on?”

Sensing something was off, Qiuyue furrowed his brows and constantly pondered countermeasures, finally deciding to continue leading the troops forward.

But before Qiuyue could move his troops a few steps, suddenly, another round of magic was cast toward him.

This time his troops were prepared, but still, several men were lost.

Judging by the intensity of the attack from the other side, the number of enemy soldiers shouldn’t be many; it likely was the Beastman Scouts that had spotted them, attempting to disrupt their march.

Qiuyue made a snap decision, sending out a small, reliable squad deep into the jungle to scout.

But an hour later, no one in his army could establish contact with that squad.

Qiuyue swallowed hard, and this time an attack came from another side of the troops; luckily, the Luo Ze Mage reacted promptly, preventing major casualties.

However, the next moment countless arrows appeared from another side of the troop, and several Luo Ze soldiers fell instantly.

Not achieving success upon setting forth and having lost so many subordinates already was intolerable for any Luo Ze officer.

This time, Qiuyue looked around and saw several figures rapidly moving through the jungle,

”Pass my orders, pursue independently; I want those beastly motherf***ers to witness the might of humans. If they don’t surrender when caught, kill without mercy.”

Following Qiuyue’s command, several Centurions rapidly led their troops in all directions for the pursuit.

However, before long, these troops too vanished without a trace.

Dead silence surrounded them; Qiuyue, left at the original spot, wiped the sweat off his forehead and continuously called for attempts to contact them, but still failed to reach any dispatched squad.

Suddenly, a crow’s call from the depths of the forest alarmed Qiuyue so much he nearly lost grip of his reins.

Just then, a new magic attack was hurled directly at them.

This attack was weaker than the last; the dispatched troops had been effective. But why wasn’t there any response?

Once more he spotted several scurrying figures, and Qiuyue couldn’t stand it anymore,

”Continue the split operation! I want to see what tricks those beastmen are pulling! Find whoever dared to attack us and hang him!”

Qiuyue’s troops were instantly divided into several groups, chasing in different directions.

They hadn’t gone far when the just divided troops were attacked from all around; this time they could see clearer figures darting in the jungle.

To deal with them separately, Qiuyue’s troops kept dividing and eventually got lost in the jungle.

”Damn it! Damn it! Where had they gone! They are just like a group of rats!”

Qiuyue wheeled his horse around, facing the less than two hundred troops left, realizing he might have fallen into a trap, attempted to regroup his soldiers, only to find that his horse stepped into a trap, tipping to the side.

At that moment, a crimson figure suddenly emerged from the bushes, crashing into the midst of Qiuyue’s remaining few troops.

The red light stopped in front of Qiuyue, and he finally saw clearly that it was a man in strange attire, wearing a mask, an orange light converging on his sword blade,

”[Double-sided Slash]”

Qiuyue frantically drew his sword, but due to overwhelming tension, failed to unsheathe it immediately, and was instantly cut down from his horse.

Just then, several Frost Ice Arrows came speeding in, hitting his back and pinning him to a tree.
