Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 482: Chapter 482: Listen to Me, Everyone Forgive Him

”Hands. Stretch them out.”

Upon hearing Yang Yu’s voice, the child panickedly did as told, afraid of what Yang Yu might do to him, but Yang Yu simply placed the pebble back into the child’s hands.

”Many people only believe the truth they choose to believe. But many things are not as simple as they seem. That said, you might not understand.”

After placing down the pebble, Yang Yu reached out toward the boy’s head. The boy instinctively closed his eyes and shrank back, only to receive a gentle pat.

”However, if you don’t try to understand, you will definitely not get closer to the truth.”

Having said that, Yang Yu casually returned to the back of Lotcar.

Everyone present was baffled, and their hostility towards Yang Yu dissipated somewhat.

Seeing this scene, Kai Bu maintained a smile on his face but slightly closed his eyes to conceal a hint of killing intent seeping from his gaze.

After being silent for seven whole years, and now returning, these people must have something special about them.

Kai Bu recalled every conversation he had with Bishop Tu Jing.

Those who could escape from the hands of the Curse Sect were definitely not simple; if he didn’t guard against them, his past actions could very well be exposed before the Curse Sect made its move.

Even if there was only a one in ten thousand chance, Kai Bu would never allow his painstakingly built achievements to be destroyed in an instant.

This time, no, ever since the last assassination attempt, Kai Bu had made up his mind to completely eradicate Lotcar.

Only by doing so could he sit firmly in the patriarch’s seat without being haunted by nightmares.

For this, he must not be impatient.

It was his impatience last time that had allowed Lotcar to escape from his ambush and seek refuge in the human dwellings, preventing him from acting further.

Kai Bu cleared his throat, drawing everyone’s attention to himself, and spoke with a smile:

”Everyone, please calm down and listen to me.

Even though they are of a different race, their coming from afar and meeting us can also be considered fate.

My cousin has already assured us they will not cause trouble here.

I trust my cousin; he must have returned having found a way to rid of that malevolent power.

Perhaps it was these people who helped him find a method to control that power.

After all, compared to before, Cousin Lotcar has become much weaker.

He shouldn’t pose any threat to the village, and we need not worry about past incidents reoccurring. This time, should he lose control, we should be able to manage him well.

My cousin is also a member of the Silver Teeth Clan and he has things he cares about here.

I hope you all can understand his feelings and grant them some leniency.”

Hearing the acting patriarch’s words, the members of the Silver Teeth Clan gradually let down their guard.

Their acting patriarch, so reliable, had even managed to set aside past grievances and accept a traitor.

Such an excellent person yet to be recognized as chief, having to achieve continuous success to claim the chief’s seat; everyone felt it was unjust for this capable and compassionate acting patriarch.

Such feelings did not arise overnight.

The residents’ compliance was the result of Kai Bu’s efforts during the seven years of Lotcar’s absence.

Seeing that Lotcar remained silent without indicating his stance, Kai Bu turned around,

”Cousin Lotcar, it’s been a long time, let us go meet the Old Clan Chief first, shall we? He surely has a lot to tell you. After that, you’ll have plenty of time to catch up with your daughter.”

”Thank you.”

Lotcar’s tone remained neutral. He followed Kai Bu’s steps forward, but hadn’t taken many steps when a voice called out from behind him.

”Wait for me!”

It was a delicate yet resolved voice. A young Silver Teeth girl appeared behind Lotcar. Despite the many years apart, her voice had matured, sounding just like her mother’s.

Lotcar instantly recognized who it was, but as if he hadn’t heard, he continued walking forward.

”I said wait! Why won’t you stop! Back then and now, I can never forget your retreating figure, you coward.”

”That’s unexpected,” Kai Bu stopped in his tracks, ”It seems we might need to move up our plans. Haven’t you always been concerned about how your daughter is doing? Now, as she stands right behind you, why not ask her yourself?”

Despite his smiling face, Lotcar did not waver due to the voice behind him; he knew that if he did not resolve the matters perfectly, no amount of talking would help.

During the seven years of his absence, a wide chasm had formed between him and his daughter; desperately explaining would only disturb his own arrangements.

”No need, let’s stick to the original plan and meet the Old Clan Chief first.”

Kai Bu’s smile vanished, ”Is that really okay? She is your daughter, whom you’ve been apart from for seven years. Don’t you want to know how she has been?”

”Even without seeing, I know she has grown into a fine lady. That she has grown up safely is enough for me.”

Lotcar responded evenly, but Yang Yu could feel him tensing up. He knew Lotcar was desperately restraining the urge to tell his daughter everything.

But Lotcar also knew that if he rushed forward to tell his daughter everything now, not only would it be ineffective, but others might also see it as pitiful.

Yang Yu, sitting askew on Lotcar’s back, looked slightly displeased at Dream Moon’s face,

”Miss, could you please not disturb us for now?

We came here not only to help him fulfill his wish, but also to uncover the truth behind certain matters.

Otherwise, we wouldn’t bother coming to such a godforsaken place.

We have already been delayed on the road, and now is not the time for your father to catch up with you and listen to your complaints.

Can’t whatever you have to say wait until our matters are resolved?

Lotcar, do not forget our purpose.”

Lotcar slightly lowered his head and simply said, ”I’m sorry,” before continuing to walk forward.

Dream Moon gazed at Lotcar’s tall stature, her eyes brimming with tears,

”So that’s how it is. Father truly has no place in his heart for me and mother anymore. I should have known.”

Having said that, Dream Moon left without looking back, while Lotcar continued forward in silence.

Yang Yu shook his head. At this point, all he could do was drive Dream Moon away; only this could slightly alleviate some of Lotcar’s burden.

Their enemy was formidable, and unveiling the truth required uncovering the heavy soil above it, demanding much effort and potentially thankless.

But, he had to complete it.
