Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 476: Chapter 476: Ambush from Ten Sides

The process went even more smoothly than expected, and a smile spread across Iyas’s face. Following the main road guided by the Fox Beastman guards, they had reached a remarkably peaceful village.

Seeing the wooden houses similar to those in his own hometown, as well as the crowd of people chatting and laughing in harmony, a sense of comfort surged up from the bottom of Iyas’s heart.

Indeed, this kind of environment suits me best.

The cities on the Human side might be majestic and spectacular, but it’s this tranquil rural life that truly brings joy to my heart.

Just as Iyas was immersing himself in the embrace of the countryside, Yang Yu quickly walked up to Iyas and whispered in her ear,

”Let’s speed up and not linger here.”

Before Yang Yu’s words had finished, Lotcar’s keen hearing caught a piercing sound of swords being drawn.

At this signal, the clashing sound of swords echoed continuously, and in the next moment, the Beastmen who had just been chatting and laughing surrounded Yang Yu and his party from all around, sealing off any escape.

”What a nuisance, it looks like this was a trap from the very beginning.”

No sooner had Yang Yu’s words fallen than a black-haired dog-eared girl pointed her sword directly at Yang Yu and Bai Jin, demanding,

”Why have two Humans mixed in among you?”

”Two?” Iyas, doing her best to maintain her composure, replied with a beaming smile, ”Are you sure you’re not mistaken? It’s clear at a glance that this individual belongs to the Bear-man Clan.”

Setting Yang Yu aside for now, it simply didn’t make sense that even Bai Jin, who appeared to be a Bear Species Beastman, had been exposed.

Iyas tried to cover it up, but Yang Yu directly revealed his face, untied the rope around his neck,

”I didn’t expect to be unmasked so easily by you.”

”Don’t underestimate our sense of smell. Do you know how much effort we’ve put into remembering the scent of Humans?

Though I don’t know by what method that girl managed to change her form,

I definitely detected the scent of a Human female upon her.”

”I must say, the dog’s sense of smell is indeed sharp. No wonder there are so many canine Beastmen here.”

Yang Yu wasn’t surprised to be treated this way.

Before they even passed the guard post, Yang Yu had opened his panel, paying attention as he went, familiarizing himself with the attributes of everyone he encountered here.

The attribute values in this village were too peculiar; everyone’s Level was above 30, and while there were variances in attributes, the gaps were not wide.

Yang Yu hypothesized that there was only one possible explanation for this: they had undergone uniform training.

Why would those who received formal training try so hard to live as ordinary people?

The only situation Yang Yu could think of was this:

It was highly likely that this place was a trap, specifically set to lure Slave Hunters, to catch them in the act.

Many here were delicate and helpless Beastmen ”girls” who, at first glance, seemed to have no attack power at all, but in reality, each of them possessed strength comparable to a B-level adventurer.

Slave Hunters coming to hunt would see so many beautiful female Beastmen gathered here and think that by defeating the guards, these beauties would be theirs for the taking.

For these walking treasures, Slave Hunters would surely band together and attack, venturing deep into the village.

At that time, these ”girls” would reveal their true strength and unite to slaughter them.

”What on earth did you come here for!” The beast-eared girl demanded.

”Hold on, there’s definitely been a misunderstanding. You don’t have to be so aggressive; he is our lifesaver. He came here to take care of some business with us elves.”

Seeing the beast-eared girl’s aggressiveness, Iyas tried to explain, but the other party had no intention of listening,

”I don’t know what you want with the elves, but no good ever comes from humans entering our territory.”

A few beast-eared ”girls” chimed in with robust voices, ”That’s right. Just recently, I heard about someone secretly infiltrating Wansheng Country and stealing our secrets. Now, in such a critical period, we will absolutely not allow any suspicious persons here.”

”Listen to me; this guy is definitely a good person, nothing like the others.”

Iyas attempted to explain again, albeit her explanations were quite clumsy.

However, no explanation would have worked anyway.

In Yang Yu’s vision, he had already seen a hint of greed in the eyes of several ”girls”,

”So, what do you plan to do with me? Are you thinking of expelling me?”

”Like we’d let you off that easy. It’s because of your kind that our country has been dragged into war. You’re too suspicious, and if we don’t take you to the interrogation center for a thorough investigation, it would be an outrage.”

The initial targets of these people were Slave Hunters and spies, and those who undertake slave hunting are usually human.

Yang Yu couldn’t tell if they were simply trying to capture any humans they saw to seek commendation, or if they just didn’t want to let humans go.

Regardless of the reason, there was no chance of discussing or resolving the situation amicably. Without resistance, he would end up in their hands, thus delaying Lotcar’s plans for revenge and other schemes.

”No choice then.”

Yang Yu pulled out a shield and sword from the System, and, seeing this, Bai Jin and Iyas immediately prepared for battle.

”Be cautious, don’t kill them. Just make them lose the ability to fight, but if anyone really wants to fight to the death, then there’s no helping it.”

Yang Yu spoke loudly, his words intended not only for Bai Jin and the others but for all the beastmen surrounding them as well.

Could this guy be really strong?

This thought had just appeared in the beastmen’s minds when Yang Yu instantly moved to the position of a black-haired dog-ear beastman. Next to her, he delivered a kick straight to her lower abdomen, sending her flying before the others around could react.

”Such incredible speed.”

Not pausing for shock, the surrounding ”girls” all lunged at Yang Yu, trying to overwhelm him with sheer numbers and settle the outcome.

Just as they were about to act, a black Magic Array spread out from beneath Bai Jin’s feet.

Out of the desert, Bai Jin could use magic normally.

Not only that, but the practice of Magic Perception in the desert allowed Bai Jin to quickly and accurately channel Magic Power into the Magic Array, completing the magic faster than before.

In simpler terms, her casting animation had become quicker.

Though it might seem like a mere fraction of a second, in a clash between experts, that fraction of a second could decide the outcome.

As the black Array unfolded beneath Bai Jin’s feet, the ”girls’” Speed was suddenly slowed, like shadows of fish skimming through the Array.

As these shadows leapt from the Array, they transformed into tiny black imps wielding sharp claws, attacking the ”girls.”

In an instant, wigs and padding flew in all directions, revealing their true faces.
