Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 471: Chapter 471 Are You Trying to Stew Us?

The hunting target of the Lamia was the Fierce Land Shark, and since neither she nor the Lamia knew each other, they should be able to leave here safely as long as they didn’t provoke them.

Yang Yu displayed a friendly smile to show goodwill while observing Mellen’s reaction.

If Mellen was determined to pursue them, Lotcar’s Mortal Wolf Body was no match for the Steel Bones of the Sand Sailing Ship, which would chase them around like small pigs.

As for fighting with the Lamia...

If it was a mob attack by ordinary people, Yang Yu and his team might still stand a chance to fight.

But Mellen had just demonstrated her Skill, clearly telling Yang Yu that if they dared to run away, she could catch them silently at any time.

Under any circumstances, making enemies with the Lamia Clan in the desert was the worst choice.

Looking at Mellen intently, Yang Yu could sense a unique maturity about her.

Facing Yang Yu’s statement, Mellen just stood there motionlessly, her one eye reflecting Yang Yu’s figure.

A suffocating oppression attacked Yang Yu, as if Mellen was telling him that, under her watch, any clumsy disguise was only futile.

Realizing this, Yang Yu cast aside his humility, smiling yet not smiling,

”To be honest, having complete gratitude for you lot is simply impossible.”

Mellen remained silent, quietly watching Yang Yu, her piercing gaze as if trying to see right through him, but the more this was the case, the less Yang Yu could cower.

”Ultimately, it’s impossible that the Fierce Land Shark should appear in the center of the desert. It was you group of Hunters who drove the Fierce Land Shark to this region. If it weren’t for you, my companions and I would have crossed this desert normally.”

”So you’re saying, this is our fault?” Mellen crossed her arms, ”I didn’t make it run over here either. And it never crossed my mind that it would desperately choose to run into the desert uninhabited by humans.”

”That’s its instinct; it knew if it didn’t flee, it would end up as your meal, so it panicked and chose to risk its life by running into the uninhabited desert.

Let me ask a question, there’s a person practicing throwing darts in the open air, suddenly a gust of wind blows, the dart goes off target, and hits someone, who do you think is responsible?”

Mellen thought for a moment and answered, ”Both?”

”Different people see it differently,

Some people think that the person throwing the dart was doing fine, and it was the wind that caused the dart to go off target, so blame the wind. Some people think the wind was fine, it was you who insisted on practicing darts in the open air, which ended up hitting someone, so blame the person.

Of course, there are those who think it’s the passerby’s fault, why would you choose to walk there.

You and I share the same view.

That means, we still have something to discuss.”

Yang Yu smiled,

”I admit, if in the end you hadn’t intervened to help, my team and I would have barely survived, much like the person throwing the dart and the one hit by it, even if the dart thrower kindly paid the medical bills, the one hit can’t genuinely feel grateful.”

Touching upon the point, Yang Yu changed the topic,

”I have heard a bit about the situation between Humans and the Lamia.”

No matter the race, there will always be a few fools, and I find it extremely foolish to hastily elevate conflicts between individuals to conflicts between races because of these few.

While searching for your Sand Sailing Ship, I was actually quite anxious...

But now, I’m completely reassured.

I don’t want to say much more, but if you really wanted to do something to us, you would have acted a moment ago.”

”Roar,” Mellen looked at Yang Yu with interest, ”Aren’t you afraid that I came just to test your depth and then decide whether or not to eliminate you?”

”If you really meant that, we would resist just like that Fierce Land Shark, and although we might not be able to handle you, causing some of your crew to suffer wouldn’t be a problem.”

After Yang Yu finished speaking, Mellen suddenly grinned and burst into loud laughter,

”Hahahaha, I’ve been sailing for many years, and this is the first time I’ve met someone who dares to speak to me like that. This is interesting—a giant wolf, three humans, two elves, and a Slime; quite a rare combination indeed.”

Using his index finger to wipe the tears of laughter from his eyes, Mellen showed a friendly smile to Yang Yu and his company, saying:

”Don’t worry, I won’t do anything to you. The only reason I came here is that I am simply interested in you and the giant wolf by your side.”

”If you’re lusting after our bodies, forget it.”

Of course, when Yang Yu mentioned lusting, he meant it literally; he was truly afraid that Mellen had his eyes on his companion, Lotcar.

If Mellen took a big pot, added some mint, and stewed Lotcar, where then could he find such a convenient mode of transportation?

”I think you misunderstand something.” Mellen’s tail lightly slapped the sandy ground, excited, ”I just want to know why that tired giant wolf could instantly recover its status, and why you could burst out with such astonishing speed at that moment. What exactly did you do to him?”

Lotcar’s physical condition could still be easily explained, but explaining the title that he himself held was somewhat complicated.

”This might be quite a lengthy story; if you’re willing to listen, I’m willing to talk. The weather is so hot, my team and I need to rest for a while, and with you here, you can ensure our safety.”

Facing him without fear, Mellen’s evaluation of Yang Yu went up a notch.

In her early years, when Mellen sailed with the troops, she had also served as part of the vanguard; the terrifying scar on her face was from her youthful ignorance and fearlessness.

After becoming a captain, her inscrutable beauty, coupled with the fearsome scar, exuded an indescribable aura of authority that invariably inspired awe in any traveler who saw her.

The actions and words of Yang Yu were indeed unique to her.

Humans were not a species Mellen was unfamiliar with; she had even seen quite a few.

Just as Yang Yu said, there were people who visited their village to hunt for slaves, and even tried to intercept the Sand Sailing Ships to capture them.

Those people also showed no fear on their faces, at least not before their death.

But those people were not representative of the main tone of those visiting the Lamia village; the majority of the humans they interacted with brought many materials hard to obtain in the desert, allowing them to live a relatively affluent life in this barren desert.

In addition, occasionally, fearless human adventurers would cross the vast desert to visit them.

In her youth, Mellen even fell for a human, but those old stories are better left untold.
