Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 474: Chapter 474: Only to be Admired from Afar, Not to be Blasphemed

Frustratedly patting his head, Qian Xialan looked towards the Prime Minister beside him,

”Ming Dalak, what do you think our next step should be?”

Unlike Qian Xialan, Ming Dalak did not have furry ears but possessed long golden hair that reached his waist, and a handsome face that hadn’t changed for hundreds of years.

He was an elf.

Wansheng Country was established by the Beast Sub-race as its leaders, and many important positions had always been held by members of different Beast Sub-races.

For a member of the Sub-human Race, unrelated to Wansheng Country’s ruling weave, to hold the position of Prime Minister was a first in the three-hundred-year history of Wansheng Country.

This was a high recognition of his abilities by Wansheng Country.

In response to the princess’s inquiry, Ming Dalak respectfully answered:

”Your Highness, I believe that we should still prioritize uniting the various races of this country.

As you know, the ones who obey the rule are mostly the Beast Sub-race.

There are many races that remain outside our system, each possessing unique skills, yet they only honor their own clan leaders or kings, and unless their own interests are involved, they don’t actively contribute.

If we can clarify the pros and cons and unite them, our army can surely turn the tide and transition from defense to offense.”

”This again...” Qian Xialan frowned, she too wanted to swiftly unite those races not belonging to the Beast Sub-race.

But if lobbying could be accomplished so simply, they wouldn’t have to struggle so much.

In fact, right after the establishment of Wansheng Country, the earliest king had tried to unite all different races, but because of the wide cultural and traditional differences among the races, the assembled communities dispersed.

In the end, only those Beast Sub-races with minor differences managed to successfully unite, forming the current country.

The difficulty of unifying all the Sub-human Species within Wansheng Country had already been proven in past history.

”Your Highness, never lose hope.

I have experienced the founding war of Wansheng Country; it was precisely when various races united to resist the fierce attacks of the humans that this country was able to exist.

What we need to do is replicate what had happened before.

If you can fulfill the unfinished task of the founding king, Your Highness will surely be renowned for all eternity.”

Qian Xialan shook her head, her brow furrowed, ”I have no interest in everlasting fame; I am only concerned about how to successfully get through this crisis.”

”Your Highness, the Silver Teeth Clan has already expressed their intent to support us with more troops. Even such a mysterious race can see the situation clearly and is willing to help us at any cost; other races will realize this sooner or later.”

Ming Dalak spoke confidently,

”As for the Elf Clan, a year ago, after several elf villages were attacked, Your Highness sent a significant number of troops for protection, and the effect was remarkable.

Though there were one or two that escaped, all those who attempted to capture elves have disappeared without a return.

Recently, I will personally revisit the Elf Forest to persuade my stubborn niece. If unsuccessful, then please, Your Majesty, withdraw the troops.

If another tragedy occurs, she will definitely come crying for Your Highness’s protection.

At that time, we can reasonably put forth our demands and reach a cooperation with them.

The difficult ones are the Plant Clan and Lamia; they are formidable forces not to be underestimated, but sadly, they each have their own treasures to guard, making it extremely difficult to persuade them.”

”But if humans display greed on their territories, they will not sit idly by.

In summary, let’s start with the easiest task, the elves, who are the second most prosperous subhumans in Wansheng Country.

It’s about time that your Highness, after protecting them for so long, recieves some compensation.”

Qian Xialan pondered for a moment, unable to find a better method, could only nod vigorously, agreeing to Ming Dalak’s proposal.

If all the races living in Wansheng Country combined cannot resist the onslaught of the Luoze Empire, perhaps this country really isn’t far from destruction.

...

Five days later.

...

At the endless desert’s edge, a pale green hue emerged, Qing Shi confirmed that it was indeed not a mirage, and Yang Yu and his companions finally breathed a sigh of relief, no longer worried about a giant shark suddenly leaping out on the road.

Taking out the map, Qing Shi thoughtfully pointed out their current location to Yang Yu and his party, just continue southeast to arrive at Life Forest, and not far from Life Forest is the habitat of the Lotcar tribe.

After helping Lotcar accomplish his revenge, just head north to reach the Elf Forest and settle Hake, the burden.

Having completed these chores, they could then head directly to the capital of Wansheng Country, trying to intervene in the war between the Luoze Empire and Wansheng Country.

Having made all necessary instructions clear, Qing Shi said goodbye to Yang Yu and his company with a relaxed expression,

”The rest is all up to you. Wansheng Country is too dangerous, my task is to bring you here. I don’t want to hold you back.”

”What are your plans next?” asked Yang Yu.

Qing Shi smiled broadly, ”I’ll see if anyone here wants to go to the other side of the desert, and if not, I’ll return alone. There certainly are people who need my help.”

Yang Yu said nothing more, stuffing some money into Qing Shi’s hands as a reward.

Qing Shi initially wanted to refuse, but after some hesitation, he accepted Yang Yu’s kindness and then walked away along the long desert border without looking back.

He knew where to find people in need of a desert guide; such was the nature of his profession.

Although the time spent with travelers was short, being able to glimpse a tiptoe of human nature in this harsh desert was why Qing Shi truly loved this job.

Watching Qing Shi depart, Yang Yu placed the Race Disguise Necklace on Bai Jin and adjusted the race setting to a bear from the Beastmen.

In Iyas’s view, an unbelievable scene occurred—suddenly, atop Bai Jin’s messy hair, ”poof,” two small round ears sprouted.

Out of curiosity, Iyas approached Bai Jin, extended her hands to touch, but felt nothing, just a sense of emptiness.

The changes brought about by the Race Disguise Necklace were to be observed from afar and were not to be trifled with; upon closer inspection, one could discover its clues, revealing one’s true race.

Lifting her hand and looking at the necklace in it, Bai Jin looked lost, not knowing what she was thinking, and after a while, she tugged at Yang Yu’s sleeve, hesitantly,

”If you give me the necklace, what will you do? There’s only one such necklace, and you need it more than I do.”

Yang Yu, calm and unhurried, simply accessed his system panel, used up the lottery draws he earned from the ”Hall of Courage” task, and ended up with Crispy Corners, a volleyball, and tiles – junk.

Confirming that he had not won a second Race Disguise Necklace, Yang Yu patted Bai Jin’s messy hair, smiled and said,

”Don’t worry too much. Now that we’re at the boundary of Wansheng Country, as long as we’re careful, my true identity as a human won’t be exposed.”
