Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 470: Chapter 470: Catching Sharks in the Sand

Hurriedly flailing its short limbs through the sand, the Fierce Land Shark no longer cared about the prey nearly within its grasp; it just wanted to escape as quickly as possible.

But it was already too late.

The roar of the cannons echoed through the sky, but what the Sand Sailing Ship fired was not powerful cannonballs, but rather its crew members.

The Lamia’s vanguard troops descended from the sky, their spears piercing the sand first. Like human skin that suddenly dons snake scales before touching the sand, they smoothly burrowed into the ground.

As soon as the Captain of this Sand Sailing Ship spotted the fleeing Fierce Land Shark, these crew members were loaded into the cannons, just to be air-dropped right next to the Fierce Land Shark in record time.

The spears in their hands were much bigger than those of other crew members, and they were not meant to kill the Fierce Land Shark but to prevent it from escaping after being hard-found.

Each member of the vanguard landed in a different spot, surrounding the Fierce Land Shark as they emerged from the sand, raising their spears.

The nearest spears cast light, forming a series of purple light walls, creating a massive octagon together.

Sitting on Lotcar, Bai Jin and Qing Shi looked at the huge octagonal barrier, clearly feeling the mass of Magic Power being released from the purple translucent walls.

This array formed by eight spears was draining the magic from the sand around the Fierce Land Shark, ensuring that even if it burrowed into the desert, it could not move an inch due to the lack of magic in the sand.

Burrowing into the sand was undoubtedly self-binding.

The Fierce Land Shark quickly realized this; it felt the magic in the surrounding sand rapidly draining, and the remaining magic was not enough to allow it to swim freely in the Sand Sea. Worse yet, it could not find a flaw in the barrier laid by the Lamia Clan like it had last time.

The loose sand moved, and the body of the Fierce Land Shark that had burrowed into the ground resurfaced, bathing in the yellow sand once again.

Since escaping through the sand was futile, it sought a place where this method might work.

If it could cross the barrier laid by the Lamia Clan, it could escape into the sand with normal magic power.

But alas, as soon as the cannons fired, the Lamia crew members began to neatly jump off the deck. As the Fierce Land Shark tried to break out of the barrier, the last Lamia crew member had also jumped into the Sand Sea.

Before entering the sand, each crew member’s body was covered with delicate scales to prevent the sand from scraping the skin on their upper bodies.

After entering the sand, they writhed, gradually surfacing from the depths of the Sand Sea, leaving winding trails on the desert surface.

The Lamia were fast, closing in on the Fierce Land Shark in the blink of an eye.

The Fierce Land Shark swung its tail, trying to fend off the approaching hunters, but this was merely its pathetic and futile struggle.

Faced with the sweeping tail, the approaching Lamia dived headfirst into the sand, burrowing underground, and spearing straight into the Fierce Land Shark’s belly.

The weapons of the Lamia Clan easily pierced the skin of the Fierce Land Shark, and blood immediately flowed from the wounds, adding a fresh splash of red to the sand.

This served as a signal, and the eighteen Lamia responsible for the attack used the sand to launch assaults from all directions on the Fierce Land Shark.

The Fierce Land Shark roared, its limbs furiously stirring the sand, trying to fend off everyone attacking it with its sharp claws and pointed teeth.

But it was all in vain as the Lamia’s spears pierced into the soft body of the Fierce Land Shark like sharp steel needles.

The Fierce Land Shark struggled violently, but with every movement, more wounds were added to its body; the more it struggled, the more unbearable the pain became.

Sitting on Lotcar, Yang Yu opened his panel to observe the status of the Fierce Land Shark; its blood volume over twenty thousand was plummeting rapidly.

The Fierce Land Shark tried to harness its magic power to heal its wounds utilizing its Skill, but before the wounds could heal, the Lamia’s spears struck again, tearing even longer gashes.

Roaring and bellowing, the Fierce Land Shark couldn’t stop the group of agile hunters. At last, it lay prostrate on the ground as if resigned, allowing the Lamia to slaughter it.

”I’ve never seen the Lamia hunt before, an unbelievable overwhelming victory.”

The giant whale enters the sea, known as Whale Fall.

The land shark sinks into the abyss, named Shark Decay.

Qing Shi couldn’t help but feel moved; he had heard from his father that although the Fierce Land Shark could rule the Sand Sea, it would keep its distance when it meets a Lamia.

The Lamia clan is the true apex of the desert food chain.

”I neither came early nor late, precisely when I had used up my potions.”

Yang Yu shook his head, a tinge of bitterness between his brows, as another trump card had unwittingly slipped from his hands.

But since it couldn’t be helped, he could only accept it.

”Lotcar, while their attention is on the Fierce Land Shark, let’s go!”

As soon as Yang Yu’s words fell, a magnetic voice rang out in front of Lotcar,

”It seems you hold no gratitude for our kindness; perhaps, we should wait until the Fierce Land Shark devours you before we make our move.”

Lotcar’s mane bristled as he looked ahead, to see a Lamia clad in a captain’s uniform materialize out of thin air.

Her slightly curly fiery red hair cascaded over her shoulders, her right eye obscured by a black eye patch, a ghastly scar extending from both sides of the patch, one end reaching the middle of her hairline and the other to the root of her ear.

Without that long scar, this Lamia’s appearance alone could merit the title of a femme fatale.

A single Lamia wasn’t terrifying, but a Lamia with a crew of Lamias was.

Yang Yu scanned the Lamia crew; their levels were mostly above seventy, quite experienced sailors.

Being surrounded by them was even more daunting than facing the Fierce Land Shark.

Mellen’s mana was depleted; it seemed she had used a skill called ”Sand Concealment.”

That skill was exclusive to Lamia, restricted to sandy terrains, but if successfully triggered, it allowed them to approach their prey silently and strike fatally, proving to be rather troublesome.

Yang Yu hadn’t expected that while he mildly complained, Mellen had already approached them silently and even overheard his whispers.

Since he was caught, there was nothing he could do about it. Yang Yu climbed down from Lotcar and smiled at the cold-faced Mellen,

”My lady, I think you have misunderstood me; I’m indeed extremely grateful for your help. My earlier words were just an offhand complaint, please forgive me.”
